It’s sketchy as fuck that of like 9 announced bands so far, 4 of them have nazi ties
It’s one thing to book them as part of your 60+ band lineup (though I don’t necessarily agree), it’s another thing entirely to use them as your initial marketing push
Like, Watain on their own I give the benefit of the doubt, their connection to NSBM is tenuous and possibly misinterpreted
But when it’s also along with certified Nazis like Mgla, it becomes a pattern and that ain’t cool

its a pretty lame pool party if there's not a burning cross in the middle of it
I want to go to this fest every year, but missing out will sting a lot less if they keep booking scumbags.
The only thing I remember about Watain was the New York/tossing blood at the crowd controversy. I've seen a ton of documentaries with Erik Danielsson and dude seems weird AF.

What did I miss on that end?
Touring guitarist of 10+ years kept throwing up sieg hiels on stage. He left the band, but Danielsson fired off some angry bullshit about witch hunts and making metal too safe instead of actually addressing it as a real problem. I believe he and the rest of the band are probably as apolitical as they say (they seem kinda dumb tbh), but I have no patience for his response. There are actual bad guys in the metal scene promoting toxic ideologies, and refusing to tolerate Nazi bullshit isn't a witch hunt.

Ahh I forgot all about that. I do remember that from earlier in the decade. Agreed on both accounts.
I just realized Bömbers is Abbath's Mötorhead tribute band. I'm guessing Abbath will be added later down the road.

I sent an email this morning to Mandalay Bay about MGLA with some links to articles about them.to my surprise, I got a response back only a few hours later from a Senior VP of entertainment
My email:
Hi,
I was directed to send this to the concierge desk. I’m hoping you can put me in contact with someone with MGM entertainment regarding a concern I have with Psycho Las Vegas 2020.
My issue is as follows:
Recently the band MGŁA was announced to be playing Psycho 2020. This band has historically been associated with the National Socialist Black Metal scene—essentially, they are Nazis. As recently as 2016, members of the band have also performed as part of the band Clandestine Blaze, whose lyrics are explicitly about exterminating the Jewish people. One member has also released an album entitled “Judenfrei”, or “free of Jews”. Here are some links that give more details; including some of the lyrics in question:
I’m wondering, first of all, if MGM/Mandalay is aware that a band of this nature has been booked to play the festival. I and many others who have been Psycho Las Vegas fans are concerned about A)our money going to support a band like this and B)the message that it sends to give a platform to a band whose members hold such terrible views.
Again, I hope you can direct me to the correct person that can address these issues.
Thanks,

What is that saying?
Sometimes heroes don't wear capes.

Let's see what comes of this...Interesting that you got a response this quickly from somebody that high up the food chain.
Not sure if any of you comment on Psycho's Facebook page, but whoever runs their social media is extremely trigger-happy when it comes to deleting and censoring any and all criticism of Psycho. Last year when Oranssi Pazuzu canceled I was pretty fucking pissed, but thought I made a decent joke when I commented on their post about it saying their lineups are bigger gambles than the slot machines. I was promptly permanently banned from their page along with about half a dozen (at least) others that were also upset about the news. Come this year, they're back at it again and have removed entire comment strings of reasonable critique and feedback regarding the questionable bookings thus far. There's an unofficial Facebook group that has been trying to preserve all of the original comments and it's pretty disgusting to see just how much deleting and banning comes from them to present a look of 100% approving and excited fans.

So, if I post on there that several of their bands are Nazis, I'll get banned? This could be fun.

You’d never troll a moderator into banning you, would you?
Haha wow. Diversification is one thing, but Thursday? What's next, AFI as a headliner?
Also, remembering how pathetically small the Beach House crowd was this past year, best of luck to Warpaint.
Nice - I'll take Warpaint, Pinback, and Brutus...The rest? Either don't care for or never heard of 'em.
But yeah, hopefully Warpaint doesn't get a crowd THAT small like the ridiculously tiny one Beach House had...I felt really bad for them, but that's the way it can go when a festival brings someone in outta left field while trying to mix things up.
