But yeah, hopefully Warpaint doesn't get a crowd THAT small like the ridiculously tiny one Beach House had...I felt really bad for them, but that's the way it can go when a festival brings someone in outta left field while trying to mix things up.
Two comments and now I gotta ask how bad was it? Like hundreds bad or dozens bad?
I'm stoked on Brutus and Pinback but was never really a fan of much else.
On a positive note, Mrs. GL send me the additions poster, 3 exclamation marks, and a screenshot of her ticket purchase. Gonna be an interesting 4 days now for sure.

i thought they had a decent crowd. Definitely in the mid to high hundreds. I have no idea how many people the capacity was because the arena was never full for any show I was at

That's not horrible, imo. It probably felt less crowded due to the sheer volume in size of the venue.

Cursive is good. Domestica and the Ugly Organ are great early 2000s post-hardcore albums. Their newest is pretty good too
I just don’t go to Psycho for this kind of music. I appreciate a bit of branching out but at this point they’re already at the limit imo of non-metal/stoner stuff I would want to see and they have 2/3rds of the lineup yet to announce

That's not what I recall, especially toward the latter half of their set. When they first started there was probably around 500 people there, but as the set went on people kept trickling out...I had no problem going straight to the floor, front center to watch their set...By the end, there was just 100-200 people on the floor and very few in the stands. The band even commented on how "intimate" the show was but that they appreciated those in attendance.
well for those of us worried they were drifting too far from their roots with the last announcement, this is all firmly in the doom/psych/stoner realm so that’s cool
Love the announcement but that’s a terrible way to announce the biggest band.
Agreed. I think they just got the Visa conformation and got excited.
It's been a few years since I've seen Emperor. 2006, I think? Excited to get another shot. Let's add Darkthrone and make this like a high school reunion.
No one so far has mentioned Boysetsfire.. They're an old school punk band from Delaware that used to be pretty awesome, although the vocals are kinda cringe a lot of the time
03/14 - Thievery Corporation 04/25 - Black Country, New Road 05/04 - In Flames, Gatecreeper 05/10 - Modern Life is War 05/21 - Spite, Bodysnatcher, Thrown 05/29 - Knocked Loose, Loathe, Show me the Body, Speed 06/02 - Bush 06/22 - George Thorogood 06/23 - Dillinger Escape Plan, Deadguy, Candy, Carbomb

This is one of those bands that I wasn't very into in the 90s and doubt I would be 30 years later. That said, it's one of the things that made Mrs. GL buy a ticket. Schedule pending, I'll be there, I'm sure.
At The Gates is the one I'm still in shock with. That Slaughter of the Soul has been one of my 'go to' for years.
To be honest the only reason I brought up BSF is because they're from my homestate of DE.. and they're the one band I've already seen live on the entire lineup so far, if you don't count Old Man Gloom on Thursday. I wanted to swing this fest last year, but I'm determined to make it happen this year, the rarity of some of these acts easily makes it worth it, plus I couldn't imagine a better festival setting for an aging metalhead. I really hope the full lineup drops in the next few days.

My buddy and I used to book them all the time wayback when. Some of the nicest dudes you'll ever meet. I never got into them but A LOT of people did which is always a "good on them" thing.
My personal thought is next week and they were trying to get more hype outta the Emperor news.
Those Ministy dates look suspicious to me but really hoping I'm wrong on that one.
E: if you're doing the fan block for hotels, I'd get on those. Apparently, they're close to selling out.
So is Emperor a headliner or are they sub level with like BOC
??? - ??? - Down BOC - Emperor
Feel like they're the two biggest outside of Down announced
According to the Psycho post, they're the Friday headliner.
They didn't say "headliner" with either BOC or Down so I'm suspecting we have two more to go. Personally setting my expectations up for Megadeath/Danzig does Elvis/ Emperor. I realize it's missing a doom HL but I'm a pessimist.
I sent an email this morning to Mandalay Bay about MGLA with some links to articles about them.to my surprise, I got a response back only a few hours later from a Senior VP of entertainment
My email:
Hi,
I was directed to send this to the concierge desk. I’m hoping you can put me in contact with someone with MGM entertainment regarding a concern I have with Psycho Las Vegas 2020.
My issue is as follows:
Recently the band MGŁA was announced to be playing Psycho 2020. This band has historically been associated with the National Socialist Black Metal scene—essentially, they are Nazis. As recently as 2016, members of the band have also performed as part of the band Clandestine Blaze, whose lyrics are explicitly about exterminating the Jewish people. One member has also released an album entitled “Judenfrei”, or “free of Jews”. Here are some links that give more details; including some of the lyrics in question:
I’m wondering, first of all, if MGM/Mandalay is aware that a band of this nature has been booked to play the festival. I and many others who have been Psycho Las Vegas fans are concerned about A)our money going to support a band like this and B)the message that it sends to give a platform to a band whose members hold such terrible views.
Again, I hope you can direct me to the correct person that can address these issues.
Thanks,
The response:
