I know it may be early to speculate...But when do you guys think we will see a lineup? Gov. Ball and Lost Lands haven't yet, so I don't expect soon?
I would assume before mid may. So somewhere in the next month and a half
Blahhhh, this is going to kill me. Seeing Roo go on sale today hurts because I know they're going to sell out quick. I'm not convinced on the Roo lineup so I'm waiting on Firefly.

If you aren't convinced on the Roo lineup I wouldn't be holding hope Firefly is going to be somehow better. Maybe a different headliner or two but I'd be thrilled for Firefly to book that lineup. There's bound to be plenty of crossover anyway.

While I agree with your point, I admittedly have a younger taste in music at 25 years old. I think Firefly caters to the young adult crowd a little more (18-30?) than Roo. However, with Covid, all bets are off I feel like, and they will book whoever is available.

The big uncertainty with the impending Firefly lineup is the amount of holdover from 2020. If that was to your tastes, then you should mostly be good with the 2021 lineup.
For example, I don't think Firefly is getting Tame. Especially with Gov. Ball likely re-booking him. Obviously could be wrong, but interested to see who would replace. Also, don't think Rage is playing shows. Interested to see who would replace. Billie likely to remain on lineup? Now, with Lost Lands being a primarily bass festival, I don't see EDM competition being that big for Firefly. I don't think they will run into the issues that Roo did w/Rezz, Ganja, etc. Acts like Cash Cash and Loud Luxury more likely to stay.
Anyway, I'm rambling, but for above mentioned reasons I'd be surprised to see Roo and Firefly thattt similar. This is why I think Firefly will resemble Life is Beautiful.

I wonder if that April 12th date that is holding back IIIPoints and LIB back from releasing their mystery names is playing a part in the release of this lineup.

I'd rather see Green Day than last year's top line of Halsey, Maggie Rogers, Khalid, or Blink 182.
But let's be real y'all, this festival and its attendees are gonna go all out on the Great Atlantic Campout experience after a year and a half of social distancing. Count on there being lots of hospital transports and no interesting acts playing before 7pm.

I actually do think Tame will play because I don’t think the Philly or DC indoor shows will happen

Tame is playing Philly?
I feel like we'll either get all concerts/festivals to return this fall, or none at all.

I love that Roo lineup, but it's hard for me to convince a group of friends to travel 1500 miles and take a full week off. Firefly would be so much more convenient, so I'm really hoping for some lineup crossover.
Travis has been teasing about Blink shows coming this year, so I have a feeling they'll stay on the lineup. Would love for Rage to stay on, but if they end up getting replaced by Foo Fighters I would be totally fine with that. I'm cool with Billie too. Halsey is definitely out, but I can see her getting replaced by Lizzo or Tame.

This is actually my current dilemma to a T...
I like the Roo lineup (don't love it), but it's not enough for me to convince family and friends to drive 12 hours there and back, even if I know the experience is better at Roo. It's hard to portray that to people who have never been.
With that being said, I hope they carry as much over from 2020 as possible. There is something for everyone on the 2020 lineup and I know my fam/friends are down for that.

I honestly just can't find the trip worth it to Roo unless there is a very unique headliner. Like I would have went for U2 a few years back. I'm not sure how far the drive is for me, maybe 8 hours? Plus the scorching hot sun... it's just not as appealing as it would have been 5 or ten years ago.

The long drive to Roo has always prevented me from actually attending, but if that fest continues to attract a much more dedicated and pleasant crowd, it still seems worth considering.
But other factors to consider:
1) Firefly will actually have more sets in total darkness than Roo, as it's happening later in September. 2) Most of the acts on the Roo lineup are guaranteed to play their own dates in the fall, so there will be other opportunities to see them near urban centers such as Philly and DC.

The irony with Roo is that 10 years ago I rarely went because me and my friends were young and poor and couldnt afford it. Now we have the money, but have families and careers and too many responsibilities to put on hold for it.
We'll see if I ever get back there. But for now fests like Govball and Firefly are much more convenient. But damn yeah Primavera would be a hell of a vacation

I’m curious to see who stays on the new lineup. It’s a pretty safe bet that Halsey and Maggie Rogers are out. Out of the headliners, Billie is probably the most likely to stay on board.

Yeah, this has been my "concern" for lack of a better term. We have received no indication or leak that Firefly intends to keep the lineup. Not like Roo where What Pod and InfinityPass said they were keeping 60%. Firefly's lineup could be completely new, too.

Man, I need a dumb undercard act to leak the lineup. Who's going to be the Mdou Moctar of Firefly?
