To ensure this year’s festival will be the safest possible environment for all fans, staff, artists and the world at large, we have made the decision to shift Outside Lands 2021 to October 29-31, 2021. We are excited to return to Golden Gate Park with a special Halloween edition of the festival - and knowing how much Halloween means to San Francisco, you can expect a few treats in store!
The health and safety of the Outside Lands and San Francisco communities remains our top priority. We are working closely with local and state officials to create the safest festival experience possible. As guidance on openings of public gatherings is shifting rapidly, the move to October allows us the time to work collectively to determine any new safety procedures necessary to implement during the festival. In the meanwhile please do what you can to help us with this effort by continuing to wear your masks and getting your vaccine when it’s your turn!
The lineup has adjusted a bit due to the shift in dates and we’re thrilled to announce additional artists like Glass Animals, Kaytranada, Lord Huron, Flo Milli, San Francisco’s own 24kGoldn and many more to our 2021 festival!
Can’t wait to see you all in the park this fall – tickets are on sale now. For those who have not yet purchased tickets, grab them now and join us for an unforgettable Outside Lands Halloween weekend. For further information, please visit our festival FAQs.
Thank you for your understanding, love and continued support.
It will be . It’s cold at night in august . I can imagine a lot of people costumes won’t be really fun after 6 pm
October is a lot hotter than August in SF. I always thought it should be in October as opposed to August but hardly strictly bluegrass always takes that slot.
Climate records show there isn't a huge difference of temps between August and October in SF. Probably because the ocean moderates temperatures and keeps it cooler in the summer.
The year I went to OSL, it was in the low 60s at the park, upper 60s downtown, 70s in Oakland, and about 30 miles inland it cracked the 90s. It got cold at night, the gf had to buy a coat and wore it the rest of the trip. I had packed long sleeves and pants, which was weird when I came back east.
Anyone think this will sell out soon? It’s very tempting
A little surprised it hasn't already considering LIB sold out in 35 mins and OSL has been selling tickets for this since last August. To be fair, a large reason it had not already sold out yet is that people were not expecting this to happen. But given this announcement & Coachella moving to April I'd be shocked if this isn't sold out by the end of the weekend.
The high ticket price is part of it I think. And that this poster has been out there for a while. If you knew about it way before this date change it might effect a decision. Like it wasnt just dropped out of nowhere and got people excited.
On reflection I do agree that the price point & Billie are two differentiators between this and LIB. Definitely also something to be said for this lineup not being "new". I do still feel like the pent up demand for festivals & the confirmation that this is actually going to happen will push this to sellout fairly soon, but I am going to step back from my "shocked if no sellout by the end of the weekend" assertation.

Yeah none of the headliners are scorching hot now either. Thug and Lizzo’s albums are old. Kehlani album didnt go crazy. Tame has an arena date and the album is old.
Do the week of Tame Impala west coast arena dates in August build around the previous OSL date stay in place. Not sure about Gorge outside near Halloween in the Northwest.
I think they can just keep them and not worry that much. Unless they get forced to scrap some and just make dates revolve around LiB and such. And The Gorge isnt open that late into the year, right? Dont think Ive ever recalled a show bordering Nov up there.

This is actually pretty well balanced for me. My biggest concern is Friday night.
Vets - Should I expect complete overlap with The Strokes and Tyler? Will either conflict with Glass Animals?
Last time I went in 2018 the second billed act on each respective day is who closed on Twin Peaks against the headliner. And 3rd was on right before main stage headliner. Schedule wise youll be able to see all of Glass Animals and then you could see half of the Strokes and then go to Tyler to see half his set cause there is like maybe going to be a 30 min diff in start time.
