i think what we always want is to be both delighted (by some acts we recognize and love) and surprised (by some acts we didn't even consider). for people like us who follow festivals like other people follow baseball, the surprise part is especially important.
on this lineup i'm surprised by Miley Cyrus, Ed O'Brien, and Bill Frisell. nothing that knocked me off my seat but still some nice surprises. i'd really like to see all three of those acts, especially at bonnaroo.
Plot twist: On top of the fake lineup picture, Meatball was actually running the reddit account that said the lineup was coming on the 14th and was dropping names every few days like Beck, MMJ, Grimes, Pussy Riot, etc. He was also running that account on reddit last night where they claimed to work with live nation and they created that AMA thread where they confirmed that kid cudi, excision, and pretty lights. He also ran all those other accounts where they “confirmed” Cage the Elephant, MMJ, etc.
So long story short, I truly believe that our beloved meatball is the greatest, most amazing, most dashing, bonnaroo troll.
(ps I love you meatball and thank you for making this thread fun this year)
Why thank you. The rest of you can learn some things from this guy.

Like how to think up delusional theories? I think we've got that covered.
The only thing that makes me sad is Thursday going back to being a wasteland.
All I am hearing is complaints about Thursday but this being my 8th Roo I have never been more excited. Call it development in my growth with music but my first seven Roos were being excited for big name mainstream indie acts but the magic of Thursday isn't who will be there, it's about DISCOVERING all of the amazing music out there.
while I am mainly an indie guy, the possibility of Grand Ole Opry, Featuring Special Guests, and In Alphabetical Order has me shaking in excitement. I'm gonna fucking party and I want all of you fucks dancing with me.
Probably doesn't mean much, but last year, all of the acts that were bolded/in color ended up playing a stage (What/Which/the Other) with the exception of Prine (who got moved up on the poster after the initial lineup release).
So something like this?
Friday What: Young the Giant > Glass Animals > Miley Cyrus > Tool > Bassnectar LN Which: Megan Thee Stallion > The 1975 > Run the Jewels LN Other: Tipper
Saturday What: DaBaby > Flume > Lizzo Which: Jason Isbell > Tenacious D Oysterhead > Gizz LN Other: Seven Lions maybe move Tenacious D to the What?
Sunday What: Grace Potter > Leon Bridges > Lana Del Rey > Tame Impala Which: Flogging Molly > Young Thug > Vampire Weekend Other: Rezz
I always thought it was cool that Roo used to book acts like Alice Cooper, Billy Idol, Tears for Fears, and Earth Wind and Fire. Sure those guys tour regularly, but it was always a neat experience seeing them at a festival with a group of your peers instead of the county fair with you drunk aunt lol! Was kinda hoping that the Doobie Brothers rumor was true because the time I saw them open for Chicago when I was with my parents did not #radiatepositivitiy
I'm a big loser and am not familiar with Tipper. Where do I start? Specific album?
I'd recommend you watch live shit and not focus on any of the albums or tapes. He's got like 30 releases (albums, ep's and tapes). He is from London and has been around a long time (since like the late 90's or something). He's a non-douchy guy and kind of always stayed underground. He can play any type of EDM or IDM and usually plays completely different sets at his Tipper and Friends shows - which incidentally he just played here this past Friday (IDM/Idea set), Saturday (Downtempo Set) and Sunday (Ambient). He's literally one of the most creative producers there is.
All of his shows are completely different and often feature the work of some of the world's greatest graphical artists. Expect him to do something unique at Bonnaroo. Some recent shows I can recommend are: 1) Tipper at Voodoo 2018 where he did a specific Voodoo themed show with dancing shadows, voodoo shit and all and then the next night at Hulaween 2018. Skim through them. You're going to notice it tends trippy way more than it does bass-y, but he can throw down if he wants to in that realm as well.
He's got kind of a cult following of freaks who travel all over the country to see him when he's here. I've seen him maybe 7 or so times, and it was always entertaining. If you "experiment" you will probably get more out of it.
I didn't think he was better live. I've seen Cudi twice and DaBaby once. Cudi has gone more dreamier than he used to be, whereas DaBaby's show is more ratchet-like. There are a fuckload of better ratchety rappers. He's not terrible though. Like I told the incel last week, if you can stomach at least 10 "That's not DaBaby, That's My Baby" fillers, you're better than me. This will probably be the only major rap act I end up skipping though I'm not recommending to anyone not to see it if they've never seen him live.
King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Brittany Howard Jason Isbell Sylvan Esso Superjam Billy Strings Lizzo Tenacious D Pinegrove Oysterhead Lana Del Rey Leon Bridges Turkuaz Primus Yola Miley Cyrus Vampire Weekend Tame Impala Run The Jewels Tool Orville peck Mandolin Orange Nelly Liz Cooper Marcus king band Marc Rebillet Dashboard confessional Caamp Still Woozy
His curated events are super dope. He's a very versatile DJ and can mix together different tempos to set the mood right. His fest sets are almost always the uptempo variety, though.
For this NOLA run he did Beats Friday, Downtempo Saturday and Ambient Sunday.
In a just world, we'd get a Tipper sunrise set on the Other, but I really doubt it for Bonnaroo. He'd play ambient stuff like this:
