Probably doesn't mean much, but last year, all of the acts that were bolded/in color ended up playing a stage (What/Which/the Other) with the exception of Prine (who got moved up on the poster after the initial lineup release).

Saturday: Lizzo, Oysterhead, Jason Isbell, King Gizz, Sylven Esso SJ, Kevin Gates, Denzel Curry, The Growlers, Yaeji, EOB, Slowthai, Nilufer Yanya
Sunday: Tame Impala, Lana, Vampire Weekend, Young Thug, Orville Peck, Pinegrove, Femi Kuti
I actually like this lineup decent enough, it would be nice if they tried at all for Thursday. I agree with the rarity thing, there's a lot of bands here I would want to see but EOB is the one thing I'd probably travel for.

This kinda feels like a home run for Bonnaroo in 2019. It’s missing a “legend” Jazz Fest type act, and Thursday seems smaller than usual, but I really like it. I would go if it was convenient for me. Funny that Bonnaroo booked Young Thug before Coachella
It's decent to good.. but unless the HLers really get you in, I'm gonna have to see this schedule first... I'm still seeking out an act that surprises me (Miley does, just not in the "I'm gonna buy a ticket way, but get why others might") -- I'm sure digging through some of the undercard I'd be into it.
There is research to be done for sure especially Thursday. I know a solid majority of the lineup without looking up anything, and there is not a ton that grabs me hard. That can always change as the gaps get filled in though.
I'm not even hot on the specific hip hop/rap acts on the lineup.. but com'on now....
That being said, I'm also not at all surprised by the choices at this juncture - but at least they went for some heavy hitters if you're gonna go pop about it.

I'm not much of a hip hop person anymore tbh. I'll probably do Kevin Gates if he doesn't conflict. I just don't really enjoy hip hop like I used to. I've also never really enjoyed a live hip hop set besides Em, Mac, Cudi, and Lauryn Hill. these new hip hop artists don't do it for me anymore
The problem with this lineup is the lack of rarity. There are only 8 acts that I've never seen that I would like to see... and like 20 I have seen before. It seems like most artists can been seen at some point anywhere in the country over the span of 2 or so years.
Interesting. I've only seen five artists on this entire lineup so the rarity is a plus for me.
I live in a relatively small market for touring artists, but of the 20 I have seen, 11 played in my city within the past three years (or are playing in the next ~6 months). To me it just doesn't feel real special.

I like that Bonnaroo is back to carving out an identity for itself. It was so depressing in 2017 when it was basically a carbon copy of every other fest. I do think we are inching closer to a point where you can tell your friends about the weird fest that has, Tool, Miley, Oysterhead, Primus, Nelly, Tenacious D, Young Thug, Lana, Lizzo, Flogging Molly... along with some more down the middle good stuff like Tame, Vampire Weekend, Gizz, Denzel, JID, Slowthai, Jason Isbell, Yaeji, Pinegrove.
And so far it does sound like there are some cool wordl / jazz acts that I'm unfamiliar with. This is Bonnaroo in it's zone.
However, I do wish they just hit on a few more obvious wins... FKA, Charli, MadGibbs, Danny Brown. Three 6 Mafia would have been a great surprise.
Too Many Zoos is going to be a party on Thursday. Really digging them. Have some Rudimental vibes.
they played ~500 person club here a few months ago and it was quacking wild, whole place was moving. they are definitely a party type set, but they have a pretty singular sound.
Overall I think it's pretty solid given some of the lineups these past 5 years. There's not enough there for me personally that I would manage a trip back, but I'm happy you all like it.
However, I must say from what I've seen reaction wise by outside non inforoo Tool fans I doubt they are worth the price tag from a "high attendance" perspective.

Still surprised that no major US festivals seemed to have picked up Danny Brown... Was surprised that Charli XCX isn't returning too -- that seemed like a natural choice. But also if you go and grab up with Tool, Miley Cyrus and Lizzo - where's your budget gonna end up?
I don't like that I like this lineup. Every year, when people are listing who they want to see on the lineup, 90% of the time its just people's favorite bands they want to see all in one place. Very little thought is given to rarities like international bands, collabs, and semi-retired legacy acts. Though this lineup is lacking in several areas that I miss from the early 2010s lineups, they throw me bones like Tool, Primus, Tenacious D, King Gizz, and Vampire Weekend, ALL who I've seen before, but ALL who I'd 100% see again. That was a dirty, dirty trick, Bonnaroo!

Plot twist: On top of the fake lineup picture, Meatball was actually running the reddit account that said the lineup was coming on the 14th and was dropping names every few days like Beck, MMJ, Grimes, Pussy Riot, etc. He was also running that account on reddit last night where they claimed to work with live nation and they created that AMA thread where they confirmed that kid cudi, excision, and pretty lights. He also ran all those other accounts where they “confirmed” Cage the Elephant, MMJ, etc.
So long story short, I truly believe that our beloved meatball is the greatest, most amazing, most dashing, bonnaroo troll.
(ps I love you meatball and thank you for making this thread fun this year)
