Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Also I know we all want King Gizz late night Which but like because Bonnaroo, what if they aren’t. Where else could you see them if let’s say Oysterhead or Tenacious D get late night Which.
They're confirmed for late night, so if not Which then it'll have to be a LN tent. A tent is honestly what I see happening. I know they're a "colored name," but I just don't see them as being popular enough with the masses to be LN Which.

oh damn, didn’t see where they were confirmed late night. I feel they could play a tent too and just get a long set like JRAD

honestly while maybe some of us here don't like the type of electronic music they book, the people that come to bonnaroo do. spend five minutes in the (always large) crowd at The Other. they are very excited to be listening to that music with their friends. i don't think bonnaroo is desperate to book I Hate Models and 9999999999999. just come to detroit memorial day weekend it will be fun.

The two guys that book Roo confirmed during an interview on The What podcast Gizz will play LN. 🤘🏻It’s all happening!!!!!

Just some more diversity would be nice. Give us something like Kaytranada or Lane 8, that shouldn't be hard. I don't mind them catering to the wook bass crowd with Bassnectar, Tipper, and Rezz because that shit works for them. But if they changed it up more often, I think some of the crowd that's always at The Other might discover they like other types of dance music too.

The only thing that has me thinking they might be on Which is that idk if a Tenacious D show has quite the right energy for LN and I don't think they'll have Oysterhead and Gizz overlap. Those three bookings all feel in-a-line with one another and it'd make sense to just do Tenacious D > Oysterhead > Gizz LN all on the Which.
And while I think I'd personally prefer Gizz in a tent, it's worth noting that most of the venues on their spring tour are big theaters and it could be they have some new production that will play better on the Which
Listening to the podcast now — for the benefit of those who don’t, an important distinction is that the guy who books The Other is C3, not AC. I feel like that matters for why that stage lineup continues to feels so disconnected and unadventurous.
The electronic acts ACL has booked recently have been streets ahead of Roo. I don't think it's a C3 issue.
I’m not agreeing with this at all unless you’re going back more than a couple years. There is usually festival crossover as there was with several acts last year. Bonnaroo usually outclasses ACL in EDM arena unless pop and banger songs are more important than substance. That’s not to say all Bonnaroo EDM is substance. Far from it. But I’ve left more EDM sets at ACL from boredom than at Bonnaroo. I don’t care about “banger” songs or hit EDM. I don’t listen to that shit. Both have had a couple eclectic acts.
I’d like to see ACL remotely come close to something like Tipper this year. Also Bonnaroo has a dedicated stage with much more electronic. So for all the crap and filler, there is cool shit. Ultimately I don’t think it’s close to an Apples to Apples comparison. Plus ACL does get cool shit. But I’ll stand by my disagreement 100%

I think most of the crowd at The Other over 18 have already been exposed to different genres of electronica. It’s not like Inforoo is particularly clued in either since it’s all considered Wook bass by the posting masses. I know better.

eh I know a lot of people my age who still don't know how to dance to anything that doesn't have an obvious drop.
Thur: I'd honestly probably pop around to a bit of everything if the schedule was like this. You forgot Liz Cooper & The Stampede though. Also 99 Neighbors are the only hip-hop act on the day so it's almost a sure thing they play at night
Fri: Yola > Altin Gun > Mdou Moctar > Uncle Acid > Turkuaz/RTJ > Miley > The 1975? > Tool > Primus This is one of the better Friday schedules I've seen. Turkuaz/RTJ conflict is the biggest bummer here but I'll probably catch RTJ at Boston Calling so I'm not too worried.
Sat: Jupiter & Okwess/slowthai > JID > Denzel Curry > EOB > Jason Isbell > Billy Strings > Oysterhead > Lizzo > King Gizz Not a bad schedule. Some conflicts but I'd hit pretty much everything I'm really into. Hoping for not too much overlap between Oysterhead and Lizzo. I think DaBaby or Kevin Gates are probably more realistic for daytime What than Denzel
Sun: Makaya McCraven > Femi Kuti/Grace Potter > Orville Peck > Vampire Weekend > Pinegrove > Lana Del Rey > Tame Impala this would be rough with the back and forths from the What. I'd be surprised if Makaya McCraven and Bill Frisell conflicted, they're both jazz artists. Much more likely they're back to back in the same ten.
(Todd) How many of them would get down to some Justice though (a decent recent ACL booking) or Mel spinning some cool shit or someone like Mannie Fresh? Even Claude pops up sometimes on some stuff. If it’s just about the bass drops, they probably do need to be exposed to more shit. Look at someone like Terminator X or later day DJ Lord. Idk. I guess the younger EDM crowd I know sort of branches out even past bass and IDM.
DMS, yeah I knew the reference. It wasn’t serious. I have as much to learn as anyone.

In a way this is sort of my original point. A lot of them don't really listen to Justice or anything like that, but if they saw them at Bonnaroo they'd get down to it. Which is why Bonnaroo should book more than just dubstep and wook bass.

On a serious note though don’t they book more? I didn’t go to Where in the Woods last year, but I think I might have recognized one or two acts (fucking Afra autocorrected off acts - fuck you Omar). Kalliope was bass one or two nights and absolute house the other late night I was there. There is some variance at Other but I do get why people would group a lot of it. But didn’t Zhu also play on Other? Maybe he was in a tent?

I was actually satisfied with the electronic lineup last year. I only made it to The Other for Iglooghost and the last 30 minutes of ZHU but that's better than not at all. Also saw Girl Talk in That Tent which was a lot of fun. I wouldn't mind if The Other consistently had dubstep and bass going all night and Where in the Woods consistently had house music going all night. I went to Where in the Woods after Girl Talk and there wasn't any music going on, which unfortunately put an end to the night.
Also I saw where they posted Tier 4 would be gone by today. Anyone know how many tiers there are? I have my tickets, Seems a little early if Tier 4 means anything?

Yeah Tier 4 is gone, seven tiers total. They definitely played around with the amount of tickets in the tiers (there were a lot more tier 1), but looking back at last year tier 4 sold out on February 11th.
Justice headlined a stage two years ago, Thom played this year, bonobo three years ago, idk just from a personal standpoint too hasn't had anything I like as much as those in the last three years

All fair. It doesn’t matter to me what they play as I’m generally at a band or rapper unless there’s something I want to see. There were maybe all or parts of about 11 acts I saw there and had a good time and met lots of nice people, freaks and hippies. I still think they need a warehouse type structure so they can have raves and dance hall and acid house and other freakier/cool elements of EDM. They could easily do it like they do their silent disco (on a much larger basis). They’d be guaranteeing they were reaching out to a core group of a few thousand that would probably make plans to party there some of the weekend and be exited about the inclusion on the lineups.

I had to catch Justice on TV when I got home but I wasn’t really referring to live band structure stuff like TYTMB. That’s killer anywhere. I can’t remember if I got by Bonobo or not.

In that interview they referenced the idea of “The right moment for this artist” and I feel like they may be trying to recreate a similar MMJ Latenight Which set, which is one of the most talked about Bonnaroo sets in history. I could see them putting Gizz on The Which for 2 hours and let them go wild. This feels like a perfect time to give Gizz a push.
I'm thinking Oysterhead won't be LN because Les and/or Trey might want to pop on over to the Superjam. It's wishful thinking, but not the most outlandish thing in the world of wishful thoughts.

I bet they'll both just go watch Gizz from side stage
And if Gizz are gonna bring out anyone it should be Stewart Copeland

They just need to bring out all three of them. Let me dream.
