Aight, last plug for band-a-day I promise! Hoping this week's release of lineups has sold more people on Roo, or at the very least, the raw, unfiltered passion in next month's write-ups will be an inspiration to those on the fence.
I know I promised to start tagging people, but something something bullying something. So I'll list a few bands that have been discussed AT LENGTH that I'm surprised haven't been scooped up yet: Pretty much ALL the jam bands, including Oysterhead. I know we have some Phans on here and somebody even mentioned that they were going to one of Turkuaz's Remain in Light shows... I'm sure someone has seen Radiohead enough times to be comfortable doing an EOB write-up. I'll throw ya a bone and give you a date after the album is released! Wasn't somebody just asking to be sold on the The 1975? If someone could rise to the challenge, that would be great! And lastly, I've seen about a bajillion King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard playlist suggestions. Their discography is formidable, so best of luck to whoever wants to give them a shot!
Welp, that'll hopefully be the last ya hear about band-a-day in this thread. Thanks for putting up with my self promotion! I'm guessing this is one of those ships that steers itself once it gets going, but this is my first year running the show and I'm looking to start out strong! I'm off to hit up a couple more threads, and keep an eye open for band-a-day write-ups, coming to an Inforoo near you!
I'm not sure how you'd do Turkuaz as this is apparently more/all/most of a Talking Heads show. I'm going to the premier at the Joy on Saturday, May 2, so we'll have an idea at that point what it's going to be. That's at a club, so we might get 90 minutes or so (possibly longer with/if we get an encore). Bonnaroo should give them at least 75 if not 90 minutes also. Jerry said he didn't think they needed to do the album front to back and would throw in other Talking Heads songs as well as Adrian would have some shit he wanted to do (plus perhaps Turkuaz). I could get you 7 Turkuaz songs, but it's not what we're getting at Bonnaroo. If you wanted to mix it up 4 and 4, you'd probably go Once in a Lifetime, Crosseyed and Painless, Seen and Not Seen and Born Under Punches from Talking Heads (RIL album). From Turkuaz, $20 Bill, Life in the City, Suprestatic (not my favorite but for those who like stuff like Chic), and Heat Drop are some of their bigger songs
Oysterhead has only one album, The Grand Pecking Order. Most people know Shadow of A Man. But there are only 13 songs on the album (Little Faces, Oz Is Ever Floating, Mr. Oysterhead, Shadow of a Man, Radon Balloon, Army's on X, Rubberneck Lions, Polka Dot Rose, Birthday Boys, Wield the Spade, Pseudo Suicide, The Grand Pecking Order and Owner of the World. I'd recommend if 3post1jack1 doesn't have any recommendations, just put up the ones you like the best or find the freakiest. They have done a lot of covers and jams/riffs off of covers including Immigrant Song, All Day and All of the Night, House of the Rising Sun, My Generation, Hello Skinny (haven't heard that one in years) and a few other songs. Bonnaroo 2016 they just did songs off the album and some jams. The songs they've played the most that you might want to use on the playlist:
Army's on X - 22x Mr. Oysterhead - 22x Pseudo Suicide - 22x Birthday Boys - 21x Owner of the World - 21x Rubberneck Lions - 21x Shadow of a Man - 21x

Does anyone know of a thread comparing lineups released so far this year?
I was going to respond to the guy who responded to you on that, but it wasn't worth typing a reply. Not even an lol. That thread is maybe good for some chuckles and little else. DOOM had a decent idea, but you see how fast it derailed.
Any of y'all going to this Tool show in Nashville tonight?
Any of y'all going to the Memphis show on Friday? I possibly have 2 free tickets (I already bought tickets with my group and won two on a radio contest) Im waiting to hear from my Brother in law but if he doesn't want them I don't have any use for them.

These snippets of band knowledge have been super helpful! Especially the Tipper post(s)!
Now, how you'd like the OPPORTUNITY to create your own THREAD with BIOS and LINKS and PERSONAL STORIES in a PREDETERMINED FORMAT so more STRANGERS on the INTERNET can praise you for your MUSIC KNOWLEDGE???
Pretty sure Feel It Still will end up being the peak of their popularity. If that didn't push them to the top of lineups then it's not happening. Song was huge (and is still all over the place tbh).
Yeah I’m almost positive that’s the biggest hit they’ll have too. I was just saying if they had a new album that had a few radio songs that got a lot of play I could see it happening. But what’s sad to me is Feel it Still got so much attention but no one seems to know their actual good full albums like In the Mountains in the Sky, The Satanic Satanist, & Evil Friends. Every song on that is better than a reiteration of Mr. Postman. But that’s how it goes I guess
Their Boston Calling set during the height of Feel it Still basically had none of the stuff you mentioned above.1 song pre 2013. It was my least favorite set besides Arctic Monkeys at ACL 18 where they played the horrible new album

yeah, but thankfully they played mostly evil friends which is still a good album in itself.

I feel like they've played Bubba Slide every time I've seen them. Very catchy song.
Yeah for sure. I was just throwing a few of them out there. It wasn't a definitive list because I'm not even sure how to handle for playlist purposes (per my email). Maybe 1, 2 at most Turkuaz songs if that many?

I live about an hour from Memphis and was gonna skip this show for Bonnaroo, but if the tickets are free...
Bonnaroo must be selling well this year; just got a message through the ambassador program that they only have a 1,000 GA tickets left through the program. Idk if they reduced the amount available through the ambassador program this year but I don't remember getting that email at all last year.

I'm thinking they are selling very well, but there are also two tiers of tickets left too.
They have never done this many tiers before. And it's not even March. It's going to be filled this year. Whatever spice they threw on the line up worked.
Bonnaroo is competing with Osheaga inn my group at the moment. I prefer Roo but it's close and geographically closer.
Holy shit that Sunday is stacked. Kendrick, Bon Iver, Brockhampton, Of Monster and Men, Polo and Pan, Chalie XCX, Orville Peck, Girl in Red, Julia Jacklin would be must sees for me.
You forgot two shows of Dan Snaith: Caribou and Daphni

I really thought Roo would get Caribou or even Hot Chip, not miss out on both.....
Adrian. He brought feedback to the forefront in ways that other than an occasional lean of the fretboard toward the speaker, no one had really been doing that much of since Hendrix. What's so incredibly weird about 1980's King Crimson (Belew's first era) was that as a 4 piece, the band was way the fuck out there instrumentally. You have Fripp who is easily one of the most classically talented guitarists of all time relegated almost to rhythm. You had Bruford playing melody sometimes on the drums and never wanting to be bored with lame drum kids or straight time signatures. You had Belew as the other guitarist who primarily worked with noise. And you had Tony Levin on Stick (sometimes bass) playing rhythm and melody on each hand, sometimes both. I know that shit took a toll on Fripp leading to him to once again disband them after 3 albums with a core that rose to the top. In this case, it was Discipline, Beat and Three of A Perfect Pair, the latter will probably be taught to and will be influencing theory and composition students 100 years from now.
When Fripp reformed King Crimson in 1995 for Thrak, Belew was in the new band (which had morphed into a 6 piece). After the initial couple of tours, they didn't often play in the US but would occasionally join Tool on 6 or 7 days of runs in the Mountain West and West Coast. So no doubt Belew became friends with musicians who his bandleader (Fripp) clearly has influenced to a pretty serious degree.
