Time for Florence to make a return if/when she has new music released. Not sure she will every cross that line from Sub to Headliner but either way, it would be good to see her back.

She headlined Lolla 2015 and has headlined every NA fest she's played since then to my knowledge. I can't see Coachella booking her as a headliner unless she releases another big album. Not sure if she'll take a sub spot. The last few years would indicate no.

I don’t think we’ll be seeing new music from her for awhile. I think she mentioned that she was drained from touring, so it sounds like we might have to wait 2 or 3 years.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol

I knew she headlined some other smaller fests but forgot about Lolla in 15. But yeah, it would probably take another big release for Coachella to snag her in a headlining spot.

So with Coachella 2020 (and festivals in general) looking unlikely, we thinking that 2021 is going to be a new lineup or a sort of 2020.5 with around half or more of the 2020 acts rejoining the bill for next year?

It's too early to say if 2020 festivals are looking unlikely. If 2020 were to be cancelled though, I'm guessing a new lineup with a handful of crossovers that would make sense for next year. Perhaps all 3 headliners COULD stick around for 2021 but I'm guessing someone would drop off if someone like Rihanna or Adele becomes available. I'm guessing retaining Frank would be the highest priority over the other two.
Besides that, I could see Megan Thee Stallion, Danny Elfman, Doja Cat, Orville Peck, Koffee, 100 gecs and a few others cross over but they're probably better off with a new lineup.
Who are we feeling for this? Is a Kendrick return possible? Will the world still exist? So many questions.
The world will be engulfed in a fiery hellstorm and all of our bodies will be contained in one giant bucket of atomic goo but that will be no excuse for them not booking Rihanna
IF this were to happen then I'd say it would be 50/50. This would mean that no one had been playing any shows so it's not like anyone on the line up would be "old" since they hadn't played anywhere in the past year. They'd probably keep Frank and Rage, Travis would be swapped if someone bigger became available. A lot of smaller names would move up a couple lines like Doja Cat. Could see half of the second line falling off.. especially the likes of Daniel Caesar, Ari Lennox, Megan Thee Stallion (who were way over billed imo). I could see some 2019 small name repeats being available for a jump in 2021 like US Girls
It depends what happens with most larger record releases and marketing pushes. Since a lot of big releases are shifting from spring/summer to summer/fall, if the releases keep shifting outward, I think it'll be a lot of the same lineup. If there's a big glut of new music in the fall/winter and a completely new set of spring 2021 releases, reunions, etc. to push, I think it'll still be mostly a new lineup with 2020 acts getting preferred booking treatment in future years.

I'm guessing less than 20% would cross over but I think releases being delayed would bode well for artists who probably have upcoming releases like Frank, Flume, 21 Savage and others. I'm not confident that artists who are riding 2019 releases would still be on the bill for 2021 which includes Thom Yorke, Rex Orange County, FKA twigs and a ton of others. There are still going to be artists with newer releases competing for spots and it would be smarter to go with them instead. Coachella tries hard to stay on top of relevancy (more so than any other US festival) so I don't see them trying to rehash a year-old lineup.
Say if Rihanna actually drops an album by the end of the year... sorry Rage/Frank/Travis but one of you is probably getting dropped for her. Coachella ate millions by dropping MCR so I don't see them having an issue dumping a ton of the lineup for something more enticing.
Which makes it easier to say no if you’re not ready
If he's not ready by April 2021 then he definitely would not have been ready by April 2020.
I agree but some people may work under pressure and he may felt he had to produce music by then. And now he can use this as a cop out. I think we still get Frank. Just saying he is the only 1 that didn’t have a tour laid out which included label commitments, financial commitment, etc
With all that said him and Travis already had a large portion of their stage complete so they will be there

I feel like Frank's new project is already done, he'll probably just wait later to release it now.
If the icons on the bottom of the DHL and In My Room covers are any indication, he already had his tracklist fully mapped out.
But I agree with your "under pressure" point as well. In the case of Big Sean, he had Coachella as his target for finishing his album, but he's probably slowed down and taking more time on it now. It would have been released already if Coachella was still going on in April.. or it would at least be releasing tomorrow at the latest.
All the bands I like will be rebooked and all the bands I don’t will have to fuck off.
That’s kinda what I was getting at. Seeing a lot of people thinking they will keep frank and rage but let travis walk if someone bigger (that we like) comes along ready to replace him. I don’t know much but sounds pretty unrealistic imo

My semi-optimistic guess is RHCP or MCR - Frank - Travis if this gets moved to next year
