I think even when Fitz retires (if ever), we'll be fine at WR with Hopkins Kirk Isabella but it would've been fun to watch. The OL isn't as bad as it's made out to be. I think the tackles are accounted for and there wasn't a G worth taking. Simmons / Jones is a deadly pass rushing combo.
They got our boy some line help
he won’t start but it’s nice to have depth at a position where our guys always get injured at
Tennessee got someone picked in the second round. Thank fuck.
Jimbo and Herman are the two highest paid state employees, zero first rounders.
Texas high schools produced 7 first rounders, next closest state had 3. Obviously with your stat I quoted, 0 of those 7 Texas HS kids went to Texas or TAMU. Just astounding.
Ruiz and Baun makes for a solid draft when you start off with only the #24 and the #88 for the first two days. Basically a starter on offense and a starter on defense. Cost us a next year’s 3 (got a 2020 7th back), but that’s a small price to pay. It seems this year may be overall one of the deeper drafts in a long time. There’s always lots of great players drafted every year, but 2020 looks to me like a solid infusion of talent.

11 of top 40 drafted, none went to ut/atm. They finally got a b2b in the 3rd and ut had a second drafted in the 3rd as well. But you went from a ut player at the top for most drafts in the 00s ATM with a lot of guys early in the 10s and then first draft of the 20s nada.
Trautman was coming to us as part of our 3 player draft class. No doubt we could trade back in to the draft today, but most experts agree there aren't very many spots on our roster. We are known as a team who isn't afraid to go after FCS and Division 2 players. And we are also known as a team that no matter how you got here, you have a chance to compete. UDFA's almost always end up on our roster, and we've had a lot of success there. But being upper echelon and complete (regardless of how bad we've fucked up and been fucked over in recent playoff games) means that maybe you can go a different route and trade 4 picks to move up to get the guy you want.
I thought we needed to take TE, but I thought they were trading for Trautman.
Same with pick 101, even more so because who the fuck is Dalton Keene and why did he go before Trautman?
Yeah idk why those were the two we got, and don't know why we traded up for both of them. I doubt they would have been picked before our 4th rounders and now we don't have as much capital going into today

Tbh, I don't know much about these guys beyond what I've read on ESPN or elsewhere. Asiasi, slight reach but coulda been fine at 98/100/101. I really wish we had a more "known" quantity with the other TE pick. Apparently Keene was projected much lower.

Feel pretty decent about the Steelers dealings so far. They traded what ended up being #18 overall/ Austin Jackson for Pro Bowl safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, who won't be 24 until mid-November.
Second round pick Chase Claypool is an athletic freak. Steelers have drafted WRs better than anybody for awhile now, so they get some slack there. Third round pick is an edge guy/OLB from Charlotte, Alex Highsmith, and he won't be expected to play a lot right away with Watt and Dupree outside.
Need an OL or two, maybe a RB, and some secondary depth today.
I have no idea on the kicker, but it's frustrating to see Dalton Keene get picked at 101 (and traded up for, no less) while Hunter Bryant was available at 159.
Sometimes I think that Belichick and Ernie Adams try to outsmart everyone all the time, sometimes to their own detriment.
Also saw that the Texans took a WR from URI... I didn't know they had anyone worthwhile down there.

The trade up I think was a good trade itself. The pick not so much, he seems like he'll be good but we didn't need to make that trade. We had a surplus of picks and it isn't like we'd realistically be able to sign everyone anyway so it makes sense to just cut off some of the fat to try to get our guys. Still hoping DPJ falls to us
