Okay I watched the first episode of AS6 and I won’t say much yet but I will say the episode has the single most bizarre lip sync song choice in Drag Race history. Hope you’re ready!

It's tough to find stuff to feel that I genuinely cared about in these first few episodes. I feel like a hater who's masochistic enough to keep coming back for more: the reading challenge was bad, the Miss Piggy bits should've been funnier than they were, the variety show always sucks (many of these queens are good singers, but there never been a single good songwriter to come out of RPDR lol), and by design there were way too many similar looks in the ball for me to distinguish between them too much. Similarly, the contestants all feel overwhelmingly okay so far: of course Serena ChaCha went home first, of course Jiggly sucked at making an outfit, of course Jan is once again a one-woman mission to annoy the absolute shit of me at all times. But we also got to see new sides of some queens, too: Silky appears to have toned it down a bit (her piano performance during the variety show, for all its royalty-free generic qualities, may have been my favorite?), Sonique's come out of her shell, and, uh, Yara got a lot of Botox. I don't really have a favorite to win or go home next; Ra'jah, Pandora, and Ginger have seemed the most consistent so far but that really doesn't mean a whole lot. Next week is the first challenge that requires a bit more personality so I guess we'll see how that pans out.
Can we talk about how terrible the Maxi challenge was this week? I’ve never been so bored by an episode before.
As someone who actively checks out spoilers for this show, I knew it was coming so I didn't think it was *that* weird when it happened. What did feel weird was how underproduced it was - no music, just them talking at a table on the runway. I think that the producers are trying to do creative takes on challenges this season (e.g. this one as a variation on the podcast portion of the regular-season finales, last week's episode as a non-Snatch game take on celebrity impersonation/lipsync "musicals") and last week's was pretty good and this one kind of fell short. But that being said...
I've usually roughly agreed with the judging outcomes of most episodes this season, but I agree with Fred: the judging this episode was rough. It really felt like Sonique did the worst job on the challenge and Jan did the worst with striking the right tone for it and yet Scarlet went home for, like, making a joke or two!
Apparently they're shooting an All Winners season right now. 8 queens, no elimination, some kind of point system to determine the overall winner. Can't wait for it!

Kylie did shockingly well in the Snatch Game but I really didn't like her outfit; I liked the neon stole and that was about it. But at the end of the day, Kylie had a lot of really good jokes, and Ginger had even more, and I think she had the better outfit too - I loved the hair and I thought the oversized dress was the best execution out of all of the "put my face on an outfit" looks.
That being said, Trinity had the best look overall. Message aside, that dress and hair were great and that Roy Lichtenstein inspired makeup was a sight to behold.
Either way, I'm not surprised Pandora went home - she started off strong but it felt like she was running on half a tank of gas these past few weeks, which was a shame.
anyway, I'm glad we get Charli XCX as a judge next week (spoiler within a spoiler for next week coming!)

Not even sure where to begin so I'm just going to do a bunch of bullet points:
-The song choices were all incredible. "Free Your Mind", "Song for the Lonely", "Since U Been Gone", "Barbie Girl"...all bangers today.
-Oh, and speaking of "Barbie Girl"; I know she only asked to lip sync because she had on a literal gender reveal under that gown, but goddamn that Silky lipsync to "Barbie Girl" was fucking nuts. An all time highlight of the whole show for me.
-But she did great at all the other lipsyncs. I'm not a big fan of using constant reveals as a gimmick, but every single one of Silky's reveals was really well done and served the purpose of the song well. Like, Jan absolutely owned the Pat Benatar lipsync and was channeling Satan herself the entire time, but how do you say no to pulling a guitar out of your discarded coat and then smashing it on stage?? All of them were great. Except, of course...
-...the botched dress reveal in the final lipsync. But really, even though the editors tried to telegraph it that way, we all know that's not what did her in: Eureka tapped *deep* into some emotions during that lip sync and pulled out a different emotional performance of "Since U Been Gone" that I didn't see coming but one that had *me* feeling emotional by the end of it. Silky put her heart and soul into every lip sync, and this was absolutely the episode where she got the redemption she was looking for, but Eureka won that fair and square.
-And the banter was off the charts this episode too! Carson Kressley somehow nailed the role of "insanely flamboyant sports commentator", Jiggly and Serena's casual reads of each other were hilarious, everyone making fun of Trinity for being depressed about someone coming back into the competition, etc. etc. etc. It was great all around!
- I was expecting to be a little bored by whole episode of lip syncs but they did a really job of keeping it engaging and it was great to see the remaining queens watching. Silky certainly helped with keeping things exciting. - They both killed it but I think Jan should've won that lip sync - It kind of sucks that they got everyone really excited about Silky and now Eureka is going to come back. I like Eureka and she clearly won that lip sync but it will still be pretty anticlimactic if she comes back.

Don’t have much to say about the episode other than I think Eureka’s looks were the best she’s ever had across the board tonight and that I died at Ra’jah saying “My heart is in my bootyhole, bitch.”
