I’ll be skipping. It’s a shame because I don’t get an ounce of confidence nor do I believe anything they say because it’s mostly all bullshit. They’ll probably offer to cut taxes for the rich and demonize immigrants and democrats because the show is off script.

The numbers were seeing for US cases have to be so off. All I'm seeing is posts about how expensive it is to get tested and how few test kits are even available. We've probably got like 10x the number of reported cases and we don't know where they are to help prevent the spread. This administration has dropped the ball on pretty much everything, but this is really bad.
At the university I serve a professor was saying that while they haven't officially moved online for the rest of the semester, they're absolutely acting like that's gonna be the case. The great part is that they're not making the students move off campus because they don't want to have to reimburse them. I'm a ways removed from being college-aged but I'm excited for them at the prospect of having a couple months without having to go to class and not having to live home with parents either. Aside from the deadly plague and all that's a pretty sweet deal.
I'd guess it's safer for them to stay on campus instead of going home to possibly infect their older parents, too!

I was really mad that our university president said we have zero cases on campus in an email yesterday... NOBODY IS BEING TESTED, how can you even say that? UGH.

As someone who works in hotels, the impact has been severe at a lot of our hotels. Hasn't impacted my property yet but we're in early days and I've already had to budget for some pretty significant spending cuts for the rest of the year.

Yeah, it makes sense to help those industries. Travel related industry like this will be hit hard but then again so will pretty much every business in the country. I'm just sick of seeing his administration focus on things that help him and not the people. Like, the focus should be on testing and quarantine and helping the medical industry. But you just know he really is concerned with his own bottom line.

Its a very serious thing happening and I completely agree with all decisions the NCAA and individual schools/conferences are making. But as a former athlete and a fan of sports, it really fucking sucks and I am irrationally mad at this virus I can’t control.

Only a matter of time till the NBA suspends/cancels the season.
They have to do what they’ll have to do. It blows for all the workers who rely on probably the second job money they make working games to make it. It sucks for us who are trying to fight our way in. I’m not going to be mad at a responsible decision though ill still be disappointed. NBA gets me well into June before sports wasteland (in years with no World Cup or Olympics) until football season.

He said all travel including cargo I believe. But not including the UK. Said Europe is at fault for not cutting off travel to Asia and then Europeans brought the virus here.
That’s ridiculous. But I guess it’s a way to help bail out the U.K. and fuck over the EU. Always blaming somebody instead of taking charge of shit. Dismal.

Some may say a lot of decisions have been made later than they'd ideally have been made, but honestly I'm thankful they are making these decisions now at all. Could you ever imagine even say 5 years ago, professional sports shutting down games to fans? March Madness eliminating fans altogether a week before it starts?
God this thing really has picked up steam in a matter of weeks, re: going from a "yeah, China has this bad virus going around" to rapidly "we're in the midst of a world pandemic."
I had two separate work conferences/multi-day meetings cancelled today for later in the month, already. One made sense as it was going to be about 100 people, but the other was only a group of about 20 for next week...nonetheless, if this level of action is what it takes to prevent further widespread contagion, then so it goes.

Maybe tested positive for exposure from being sick a few weeks ago? NBA suspending the seasons is wild. I guess they have to give it a few weeks to see what happens. Good news for the Gizzlies. :/
