I'm groomsman in a wedding in two weeks. Its outdoors, thankfully. But idk what to do about the reception. Grab a plate, eat outside and then rock the mask inside at all times...
Careful on the alcohol too. Makes you do shit like take your mask off and dance to girls, girls girls, on a table top. Not that I would know anything about that.
A large, Phase 3 study testing a Covid-19 vaccine being developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford at dozens of sites across the U.S. has been put on hold due to a suspected serious adverse reaction in a participant in the United Kingdom.
Well Fuck. There goes the Oxford vaccine. I hope the participant is going to be Ok.
not necessarily gone, it's possible the adverse reaction isn't related to the vaccine. they should know in a few days if it was related to the vaccine. if it was though then it will kill the vaccine.

True. But AstraZeneca's is struggling anyway. They were having a hard time getting the participants they needed for the phase three trials. And the storage restrictions will make it difficult for pharmacies to carry.

So bizarre to me
Not really. People are scared shitless of this vaccine.

they only need .05% of the UK population to join the study to get to 30k. I wouldnt think its that hard.
Right, but you need people across a span of age ranges, ethnicities, health conditions, and other demographics. It's not just about flinging the door open and letting whoever in.

Adults with positive SARS-CoV-2 test results were approximately twice as likely to have reported dining at a restaurant than were those with negative SARS-CoV-2 test results.

Makes sense since most people in a restaurant aren't wearing a mask. I feel so freaking bad for anyone working in a restaurant right now.
It also makes sense that the people more comfortable with putting their lives at risk are more prone to put themselves in that position more often
100%
I can't even imagine being comfortable being inside a restaurant right now! Or a movie theater. Both of which have recently opened up here. I'm sure they'll be shut down again in a few weeks when we see a spike again.
I've been going to restaurants for lunch for a month or two. Counter orders, not a server or anything. Only going to restaurants with some space. (We're at 50% capacity for dining here.)
It hasn't felt too weird. Everyone's wearing masks unless they're seated and eating. We haven't seen any impact. Statewide infection rates are still around 1%.
I had my first covid dream the other night, where I was in like a ballroom/conference hall sized room, and I freaked out and was like I can't be here I'm sorry I have to leave.
Pretty sure that was a subconscious "don't do it" for gatherings.

I’ve had several. I’m usually just walking around somewhere (grocery store, fast food restaurant, church, oddly enough) and suddenly realize I’m not wearing a mask. I wake up pretty soon after that.
I have them every night lol They’re all guilt dreams where I go out and do something and feel horrible about it the whole time. Same thing happened when I gave up drinking soda and I would have nightmares where I drank soda and felt horrible about it

Yeah, the COVID dream thing is real, and it's crazy that everyone seems to have the same one about forgetting to wear a mask and only realizing it when it's too late. The worst ones for me were when I was actually sick, because then, in the dream, I would realize that and know that I'd just spread it around to all my friends and family.
Sorry to hear it's been a rough week, Vieux. I feel like a lot of people I know are hitting a wall right around now. For me, it's been a series of walls, followed by a brief period of, "I'M OK THIS IS GOING TO BE FINE LET'S DO THIS," followed by another wall. Kind of this:

Movie theaters aren't open here yet.
I've been eating out a little bit. Took the wife out to a nice steakhouse the other night and it was great! All the servers had masks, gloves, and shields on. It's actually pretty normal if you mitigate the immediate risks. Wash your hands frequently, bring sanitizer, wear a mask when required. Don't be a dumbass.
Fun can still be had. Just have to be smart and recognize potential hazards and frequently touched spots.
jorgeandthekraken thanks, that's pretty much exactly what it's like. Masks making has been busy and a big distraction.
My covid dreams used to be catching it and dying. After Kyle had it and I didn't get it, they've turned into everyone else dying and the world being stuck jobless in quarantine for forever.

Some low-key good news: AstraZeneca has resumed the Phase 3 trial of its vaccine candidate. The press release didn't disclose the review board's findings, but given that the adverse event was reportedly transverse myelitis and required hospitalization, I have a hard time believing they'd be resuming if they'd found a direct link to the shot.

So we went to do curbside pickup at McAllister’s today. That place was packed, and we definitely saw people walking around inside without masks. Passed by several other places, all with completely full parking lots. None of them have outdoor seating. I can’t help but assume that a lot of these people came from indoor church services too.

there's a fullblown dominos game happening outside of the bodega near me, all unmasked. I have felt direct anxiety recently over this and it's ridiculous what I'm seeing in groups of people who live in my area. It's literally people who have to go from place to place totally masked up and people who are constantly on the block never masked. They think they are invincible. And more unfortunately some of them have stores (aka lot of friends of the bodegas) and they are gonna be the winter wave of cases.
I feel bad that every day I feel less about it. I don't want anyone to contract it, but holy shit, they act so brazenly. And not knowing a language doesn't mean you don't understand body language (they don't believe they can't get touched, and it's obvious)

Went to the grocery store yesterday to stock up for the "hurricane" that is now not coming our way. About 20 mins in I look at thejeremy and tell him I am about to have a panic attack, let's hurry and finish. 10 mins later while in the checkout line, the cashier decides her mask is uncomfortable and drops it below her mouth (it was below her nose at first) and then an old, frail dude gets in line behind me sans mask. Needless to say I am done with the grocery again.
A lurker bought one, Druid has bought one. Other past inforoo'ers have bought. They are great, I promise and it will make you less mad at the world knowing you have a super cute/awesome mask on.
