This dude just walked into Tropical Smoothie without a mask and the employees told him to put one on and he was like “oh I have to wear a mask? Sorry.” And went to his truck to get it Like bro we are a year and change into this thing. How do you not know that
This interaction is happening every 30 minutes where I work. Except they usually get pissed and don't come back. Or they threaten to fight the staff.

So, yesterday, my wife and I went to see a Grateful Dead cover band in which one of our friends plays at a local microbrewery. It was outside. Most people were masked, and I overheard a bunch of convo along the lines of, "Yeah, I'm fully vaccinated." It was pretty spread out.
And yet.
I think I have a long way to go if I'm going to be comfortable in big crowds come September.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?
UPCOMING SHOWS 5/14 - Neil Young & Crazy Horse @ Forest Hills 6/8 and maybe 6/9 - Governors Ball 8/17 - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard @ Forest Hills 9/4 - Pearl Jam @ MSG 9/7 - Pearl Jam @ Wells Fargo Center 9/11 - St. Vincent @ Brooklyn Paramount
I attended this event through an invitation from work. There were still plenty of precautions taken. In addition to vaccination proof, our area was also required to get COVID tested outside 30 minutes prior (I don't think the fans in general seating needed to do that), and they still blocked off one out of every three seats on the floor. It was also a logistical nightmare since the stadium hasn't had any public events and the employees are very new to directing people where to go, but once we were settled, it felt relieving to be at a large event again. I even missed using the porta-potties!
I feel like it'll still be several months before I get to experience something like this again, but it was indeed nice to get a glimpse of this feeling back.

Yeah, I got tickets to see how they were gonna do it all. Wasnt able to attend cause gf got her 2nd dose on Thurs so it wouldnt have worked for us. non vip people had to show their vaccine card and have it be completed by April 18th. It was a good idea to get a lot of people sorted out before they got to the stadium, but I didnt like that they werent adding the extra layer of checking the vaccine cards against the database. But Im sure they thought the honor system for an event like this was going to keep anyone trying to fake their status pretty minimal since this was free. Friends who did go had a great time and got emotional cause its been over a year without a show. Hopefully the telecast on Saturday does its job and gets people to get their shots so they can go back to things like this.

I had such a shitty experience last night. My in laws are in town visiting for a while, and wanted to go out to dinner.
I was super uncomfortable about it already because we'd be taking our 3 year old to eat for the first time in well over a year. But I didn't want to be a stick in the mud, so I picked a place that has a spacious patio that they like, took a Xanax, and off we went...
All was fine until a large party (like 3/4 tables of humans, but one group) started getting up and congregating right next to our table, inches from me and my son, adults and children all with no masks. After a few minutes, seeing that this wouldn't be a very temporary situation I simply turned around and asked "Excuse me, are you guys taking a picture or something?" and they looked confused so I said "I'm not comfortable with how close you are to our table, can you move?" And this one woman apparently took major offense to my perfectly reasonable question and yelled "IF YOU'RE NOT FEELING SAFE YOU SHOULD JUST STAY HOME" so I just kept repeating things along the lines of "okay, please go" It turned into a whole scene because she kept coming back and saying shit, and I kept telling her to go away...
So basically, I'm not taking my kid to anymore restaurants for a very very very long time because people are careless and awful.

that sounds like my area as well. I haven't felt comfortable enough to visit any of the restaurants around me because people suck. sorry that you had such a terrible experience.

That just absolutely sucks. Sorry you had to deal with that shit. I told you when we visited East Tennessee we were laughed at and told we should go to California. I don't have a child to worry about so I could laugh it off and go about my business. But I was very uncomfortable at one restaurant and we did not go back. People are real assholes about this.
I wonder why Cuomo would possibly want to make people happy even though it’s probably not the right thing to do
Maybe he's seeing the recall and flack Newsom is getting? It's all crap/politics.
There arent enough goo in New York to even organize a recall. And there is no way it can even come close to the shit show we’re gonna have. Especially when day 1 of campaigning starts with this.

Ugh. I'm so sorry you dealt with this. I still haven't eaten in a restaurant for this reason. People are horrible. Hugs.
Re: Cuomo, he's still +10% in approval rating and has the support of 75% of NY Democrats. He probably won't seek reelection because a primary is a whole other animal but he's in no recall danger. Also, NY doesn't have a recall system.
