So not only do I have to go back in the office next month, but the university also no longer requires masks indoors and also has dropped social distancing requirements.
FML.
I'm really sorry you're going through all of this.

You can still wear the mask and social distance if you so choose.

The Lambda variant (hit Peru earlier in the year) has now appeared in Texas. Fortunately it's not as transmissable as Delta or Delta+ as there are only 700 or so known cases in the USA. Motherfuckers need to get them some vaccines before one of these mutations puts us right back where we were. As it is, I got a text from the LA Governor's office that they are reporting 5,388 new cases today which is the 3rd highest count since the pandemic started. People are fucking idiots.
Trying to figure out if I need to quarantine when I get back from Roo. (I'm vaxxed. My wife is vaxxed. My kids are too young.)
Yeah, I'm toying with this, myself. My wife and I are both vaccinated, but she's also four and a half months pregnant, and statistically, pregnant women have a little bit of an elevated chance of severe disease with COVID-19.
I was thinking of booking a hotel room back home for 3 or 4 nights after the festival and getting tested. It's not perfect - ideally, I'd quarantine for, like, 5-10 days - but that'd be a super-long time to be away from home, and it's better than nothing.
Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?
UPCOMING SHOWS 5/14 - Neil Young & Crazy Horse @ Forest Hills 6/8 and maybe 6/9 - Governors Ball 8/17 - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard @ Forest Hills 9/4 - Pearl Jam @ MSG 9/7 - Pearl Jam @ Wells Fargo Center 9/11 - St. Vincent @ Brooklyn Paramount

I can wear a mask but I can't socially distance. I have a shared workspace with 2 other people within arms reach and people drop in to our shared space regularly for meetings. It's basically the worst office setting ever for avoiding cooties.

are they requiring vaccination?
They're aiming to, but they can't enforce until it has full FDA approval. Right now they're just asking people to voluntarily give their vaccination status.

my employer is enforcing mandatory vaccination might just be because they are small

My hospital is requiring everybody to be vaccinated by Oct. 15th. They released a FAQ but regarding the requirement itself...
Can ***** require me to get a COVID-19 vaccination?
Businesses can choose to make certain items a requirement for employees, as a condition of their employment. Examples include background checks, driving record checks, and employee health requirements. ***** has determined the COVID-19 vaccination to be required for employees.

That sucks. I’d probably double mask and have alcohol spray for the phones and keyboards within arms reach.
Maybe bring a little rechargeable fan and set it up in a way that makes you feel a little safer? Not sure if it would really help, but I got this one a couple years ago and it moves the air pretty well. (I assume you're not allowed to bring in a larger plug-in fan.)

Quarantine would be the responsible thing to do. I'm probably not going to roo now because I won't be able to quarantine and I don't want to get my kids sick.

Damn that sucks. Does anyone know if the symptoms for those that tested positive after vaccinations were slight enough to warrant a test or if they were fully noticeable (I.e. no sense of taste, smell, difficulty breathing, etc)

Good question right here...I'm curious too. Anybody got any first or second-hand accounts of how it's been going for the vaccinated testing positive?
If only we could f*cking put all these irresponsible, jackass anti-vaxxers into a rocket and shoot it to the sun...This all just makes my blood boil to the highest degree.

Just read an article from the St. Louis County Health Department saying that mask mandates are becoming a requirement indoors again starting Monday. Good. That's what happens when you live in a state with a shit ton of anti-vaxxers. Can't wait to hear all of the complaining.

That would be me. Tested positive last week. Vaxxed with Pfizer back in March/April. At first, I thought it was a sinus infection because I didn’t lose my senses. I had 3 rough days of high fever, fatigue, body aches and an annoying runny nose. And the headaches. The headaches were the worst. I didn’t have issues breathing though so I’m fortunate. I’m left with a pestering cough that comes and goes.

And this folks, is considered a mild case. So join me, the cuck, and put your mask back on.

Thank you for that rundown dude...I wish you a total and speedy recovery.
And yes, this should all be a wakeup call for everyone. Nobody wants a shutdown again, and for our vaccines to lose efficacy, so masks should be back on for all.
It's not ideal, but tough sh*t...It's the lesser of all evils, by a longshot.
