I have been going to a few concerts recently but most have been pod/drive-in shows or shows with a lot of room to wander and space out. Just got tickets for Phish Hershey next week and now kind of freaking about being in that packed in GA floor crowd.

Vieux are you selling any masks that have plain colors or neutral patterns? I’m looking into getting another non-surgical mask for shows that are having mask requirements but don’t want something with too busy of a pattern
These are really comfy, fit well and have the filter pocket if you even wanted to add a layer. Lots of colors and seems to be a decent amount at one location in Chicago. Theyre also on clearance.
According to the document, which was obtained by Variety, all of its shows will require proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test for entry, and effective October 4, “all employees in the U.S. [must] be vaccinated to enter one of our events, venues or offices – with limited exceptions as may be required by law.” The document was signed by Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino.
Just saw Green Day/Weezer/Interrupters at Citi Field (I was also looking forward to Fall Out Boy, feel ripped off that there weren't partial refunds offered). I've been trying to find a TL:DR mask recommendation at shows but keep getting conflicting information. Are masks strongly recommended in large crowds OUTDOORS as well as indoors? I didn't keep my mask on when I was in the GA section but put it on when I was walking through the crowded concessions area. Keep going back and forth on what the best etiquette would be.
If it is crowded outdoors, put on the mask. Cloth masks I buy from Vieux for cooler temps, surgical paper masks when it’s hot AF and I’m going to sweat.
Imagine wearing your skull mask in front of two famous rappers in hot ass temps because, it's way safer than your one ply mask edit: for 15hrs

Man, if only someone had attended a LiveNation event the other night, overheard a security guard talking about this, and told us about it here. It really would have been great to get that scoop in advance, rather than just having to read it in the trades.

Oh, well.
Only a scoop if it gets published!!
Edit: thing is with the memo saying Oct 4th they could skip Bonnaroo having it but not ACL

I should make some to bring. I have two different Grateful Dead fabric. I can get more music notes. And skulls, of course.
It is ridiculous the amount of people I see around St. Louis with Phish masks. Get yourself some of that blue fabric with the red circles and you'll make a killing.
the October date is for staff to be vaccinated. I was confused when I read it, too.
Alright, yeah, whoops.
Ok so this article is gonna make the rounds and make people think its a bad idea to be outside. Yet it points out the data is coming from low vaxx rate areas which you know is going to increase the chances of getting it. But are the “experts” going to end up comparing the events which had protocols in place vs the ones who didnt or what

I’ve been gloomy about transmission at outdoor festivals lately, but after reading the article, this is way better than the 4.5% positive rate coming out of those Catalonian festivals. Despite the tone of the author and doctors, this actually gave me hope.
First things first, neither of these festivals required vaccination (and I don’t think they required negative tests either). These were also country music festivals — headliners like Toby Keith, Luke Combs — trying not to judge here, but guessing the crowds may have been less vaxxed than average. (That may mean there’s underreported cases here too, so take everything with a big asterisk:)
Faster Horses has 96 cases, and it looks like several in that count are secondary transmissions, based on other reports. Attendance was 36,000. So, even counting secondaries, and rounding up a bit to 100, we’re looking at 0.28% of attendees catching COVID. 25 of those cases are vaccine breakthroughs, so if you’re vaxxed, the odds drop to 0.07%. We’re getting close to two weeks away from the fest, so these numbers (for primary transmission) may be settling soon (I hope).
The Oregon festival has 62 cases out of 10,000, so 0.062% of attendees caught COVID.
Maybe I’m missing something here, but this actually seems better than I’d guess, based on those fests in the Netherlands and Spain. Sounds like we may not get organized data out of Lolla, but I wish we would.
I think we're going to start seeing a lot more symptomatic breakthrough cases with delta going around. Im just worried its going to fuel antivaxxer rhetoric despite the fact that I KNOW id be a wreck right now if i wasnt vaxxed. I only have lack of taste and smell and a super mild cough rn.

this article frustrated me and could be termed “fear-mongering.” I’m seeing it being shared for the headline, which doesn’t even follow from the data. But it could just have easily been used to demonstrate that outdoor transmission is difficult, even with middling vaccine uptake, even in packed-in crowds.
went to see my cousin play a show (he's merc'ing for an all black old man band), first show I've paid for since Cale 2019, was fun to get out, but venue/patrons had me spooked. probably not going to be comfortable at club shows for a minute.
have a few bigger things coming in September so hopefully I can try to work up a little more courage.
