I wanted to get excited about approval, but the theorists are just on to their next excuse, i.e. the FDA is crooked and can't be trusted.
That was inevitable. These people largely aren't engaging in good faith arguments. They'll just keep moving the goalposts and complaining about the score.

In good news, five music venues in Knoxville that together cover almost all the non arena shows announced effective today that they're requiring proof of vax or a negative test for entry.
From what I gathered. If you got sick from the shot because your employer required it, it would be considered an osha recordable because of not being fully approved.
I’d imagine it won’t be an osha recordable at this point.
I know it’s dumb, but I’d say most major companies in industrial have a set requirement for the safety record of contractors (in order for them to even award them contracts). OSHA recordable incidents count against it.
I’d be shocked if I we didn’t see more employers able to start requiring it from employees. Not necessarily because they care about employees, but they can’t afford to keep sending people home for covid.
I wouldn’t be shocked if we’re not too far off from health insurance companies requiring it. Though I’m sure that will create a huge storm.

Insurance premiums should also go up for anybody who’s not vaccinated. I know current laws don’t allow for that but they do make an exception for smoking. They should add COVID vaccination as another exception.

Supposed to go visit family this week. Family has delta now. All vaccinated except young kid that wasn't eligible yet. Just fucking sucks to be born in this timeline. Can't get excited to plan anything anymore, can't do anything without double and triple guessing yourself, have to sit around and hope people's symptoms don't get worse so you hope to see them again someday, the virus mutates faster than the vaccine can keep up with, people that take precautions, wear their mask, and get the vaccine still experiencing immense suffering.... What's the fucking point anymore?

I know it's just a stupid movie, but I've always found this speech helpful on some level.

Does seem bleak right now. But you will get through it. Since your family is vaxxed they will be ok. May be difficult for a bit, but you will get to see them. And yes, the virus is fucking with us, but the mRNA can be shuffled around to take it out. We will beat it, eventually. Hang in and find something that brings you joy and partake.
Ugh, coworker tested positive. Luckily I didn’t work with her the day or the day before she felt sick, and I stay masked at work. I’m not overly concerned but it’s always scary when it gets close

I definitely feel as if there is no hope. Eventually a variant will render the vaccine totally useless. If the variant doesn't come from the unvaxxed by choice it'll come from those with less access to the vaccine. I'm also expecting to die of covid in my 40s or 50s now instead of some other disease in my 60s or 70s, regardless of how many boosters I get.

Dawg that’s a little too pessimistic. I’ve actually read that covid could actually mutate itself less deadly and serious in a sacrifice of itself to be more more contagious (if that makes sense?). I’m trying to be optimistic that delta will burn through everything in its path and then it won’t have anywhere else to go, because there isn’t a more contagious strain out there to replace it, and so many will have either been sick or vaccinated.

I was 45 years old when I caught COVID, and while it sucked, I was never hospitalized and made a full recovery. Even in your 40s and 50s, if you’re relatively healthy, your chances of dying of it are really low. And if you’re vaccinated, all the better, even with whatever variants emerge.

I told my GF this morning she should quit. I'm tired of her having panic attacks at work or coming home and crying in the morning after a shift in the ER. I almost called in sick again today to try to help calm her. This pandemic has put her into therapy which is probably one of the last things helping her hold herself together.
She cares too much to nurse. And fuck all these unvaxxed people coming in and doing this to her. I hope their horse de-wormers kill them. Typical patient load for her unit is 3, max 4 patients...last night she had 8. They were intubating people in halls.
There's all this talk on the news tonight about how long it's taking people to get an ICU bed in the Houston area because there arent enough health care workers, well.....where the fuck do you think they're waiting to get that bed? In the god damn ER where they're even less equipped to deal with them.
Nerdluck I send your GF much love and courage. If she needs to quit to keep her sanity, no one can blame her. Health care workers are leaving in droves. I did and I couldn’t be happier.
