The at home ones take 15 minutes if you can find one. Fever and cough are two of the more common symptoms.
I will try to see if I can find one in time. If was more of a mucus cough than a dry cough which is why I didn't think Covid
Best to eliminate the biggest health concern before potentially interacting with others, you know?
Rite Aid, Walgreens and CVS seem to have a fairly decent stock of rapid tests in my experience. Eventually I just ordered some from Amazon just to have them on hand.

Decided to not go. I Will just play it safe, both for others and myself (ngl I was already worried about going to a show w/ Omciron still kinda high. Lmao this is at least the 4th time I've just skipped a show I had a tic for during Covid, I need a better plan, so I'm going to get some tests stocked up for next time I have large crowd plans, which isn't until 2/25, by which time, if case trends continue, cases should be pre-Omciron levels. Plus I'm being forced back into the office next week, so the anxiety about shows being my only Covid exposure will go away, which is a silver lining.

you did the right thing for sure. I ended up missing Modest Mouse and Eric Prydz when I had my breakthrough case which Sucked but keeping people safe sucks less

Yeah, I'm like almost certain it's not Covid, rather a sinus infection (I'll get a test if it gets worse), but better to play it safe when you're feeling under the weather at all, at least for now until cases are at a more reasonable place.

Just to let you know, I thought mine was a sinus infection too. I had our school nurse test me (bc it’s free) since I’d been exposed so much and it was positive.

My mom (who I live with) just had a test today (as a requirement before a procedure, not because she thinks she has it), so if she comes back positive I'll know I have it. I did order some rapid tests though, so if I waking up feeling worse tomorrow I'm definitely testing. Sinus medication has seemed to help so far, which is what pushed the needle in that direction.

Speaking of tests, should I have received my 4 free tests from the post office yet? I only got the initial order confirmation email and then nothing since.

I ordered them the day they became available, got an email from USPS saying they'd been shipped a few days later. Tracking showed them out for delivery a week ago Saturday (1/29), didn't arrive. The tracking since then has been a bizarre bouncing around from regional facility to post office and back to regional facility to generic delay messages. But this is probably an outlier. My mom got hers that Saturday I was supposed to get mine.

Proud of you. You did the right thing, even though it sucks.

I thought I had a sinus infection/post nasal drip. I had thick mucus (clear) that I was coughing up. My symptoms were drip, wet/mucusy cough, dull sore throat and a very low grade fever. Plus, my oxygen levels were low (I have asthma so I check that regularly).
Surprisingly, San Francisco and a lot of counties in the Bay are following the state guidelines and dropping the mask mandate in most indoor areas. I think it'll still apply in schools though.

Turns out restrictions can drop (safely) sooner in areas where more people get the vaccine, who'd have thought? That's what's annoying about this whole situation. Areas that want to drop restrictions are low in vax rates and it would be unsafe to do so, while areas that are willing to put restrictions in place often don't need them thanks to high vax rates.

So I had an epiphany at the store today about the "end of covid". Even if you think covid is over, can we keep some of the stuff? I was really enjoying the person behind me in line not being directly up my ass. (phrasing) Since East Tennessee has been declared covid free, I've noticed people creeping back up closer and closer behind me, and I do not care for it one bit.

I want a 6' zone alarm to sound when people get too close to me. I agree that can stay.
Unfortunately the idiots amongst us, and there's plenty, will inevitably revert to their selfish, arrogant, and stupid ways...And they'll do it pretty quickly.
Finally got a tracking number for my covid tests. Would have been nice to have them a month ago.
Oh right...I literally forgot I asked for them.
Also NYC has a way you can access the oral anti-viral medication if you get Covid now - you can read about it here. Sucks that I'm across the Hudson but I can get it delivered to a friend's if need be.

Has Paxlovid been approved for vaccinated people, yet? My understanding was that it’s only for high-risk, unvaccinated individuals. But it’s possible I missed something.

Criteria for Paxlovid
-Have tested positive for COVID-19 and have not yet been admitted to the hospital -Are high risk for developing severe COVID-19 -Are 12 years of age or older

Yeah, I was about to say, it'd be complete bs if unvaccinated people get priority access to it. They should try the other life saving drug first.

Imagine living in a city where people are constantly in and out of bodegas. There is zero chill when space is limited. Even when they could back the fuck up

7 day national average of Covid cases is as low as it's been since 12/20. Promising. I've jumped the gun with thinking the pandemic is over twice before, but maybe it's for real this time (or at least in 1-2 months when cases bottom out). By being over I mean not impacting the average person's day-to-day life in any major way, not going away forever which it'll never do.
