My school district is going masks optional starting Monday. Spring break is the next week so I really don’t understand why they wouldn’t at least wait till we got back?? “Luckily” I got omicron in January or I sure as hell would get it now. Of course the district emails say “unvaccinated should remain masked”. Oh so you mean all my kids?? (Only 1 out of 16 is vaxxed. 😭)

My best friend’s dealing with this in nyc too. She says all her kids and the staff want to stay masked (staff is all mandatory vax’d) because they’re all still too nervous. Should be a real weird March.

I don't understand all the back and forth with the restrictions, and having mask "recommendations" like, the people who aren't vaxed aren't going to wear masks unless they fucking have to. Can we just stop with that bullshit that people are going to do the right thing on their own???

OMG for real! I told thejeremy just yesterday that they need to stop getting rid of then reinstating the mask mandate. Just keep it in place. You think people are mad, but when it gets reinstated due to ANOTHER surge, they just going to be even less likely to comply. It is so fucking annoying. People suck and rarely do the right thing.
When transmission and hospitalization numbers are low in a given area restrictions should be relaxed in that area.
I'm all for dropping stuff like mask mandates when cases are low, and leaving those up to the individual (N95 masks actually provide strong protection for the individual, even around unmasked people), but the vax mandate (for jobs, entertainment, etc) is one thing that should never go. Getting society as vaxxed as possible is how we prevent future surges and variants and they should continue to put max pressure on these holdouts to get the shots already.

Totally agree. I also support vaxx mandates as a punitive measure.

Dropping mask mandates AND vax requirements at the same time is insane. I hate my life and by life I mean work & also all other non-household activities due to these new policies

Can you hook a girl up with some links for N95s for small humans?

Let me know how they work out! I think our kids are around-ish the same age.
I bought them in late December/early January. They fit as fine as any of the KN95's do. My daughter's 8 and has a smaller head and doesn't have any issues. She still prefers the cloth ones, though. I'm not sure if we even tried with the 3 year old, though. It's just cloth masks for him. (Then again, he did give the whole family Covid in January.)
Whoa...today is the day that we went home for "two weeks" and I didn't work for over a year and half. It is also my one year vaccine anniversary.
I never got to go home. I had to work more to cover everyone else who went home and never came back.
I didn't have much of a choice and I did eventually go back. I literally finished the show that I started, just didn't do any of the actual filming or stuff in the middle. I started and finished the show.

That wasn't directed at you.
I'm just generally tired and salty today. (I'm on my eighth shift in the last seven days.) I would've loved to have got laid off and then gotten double unemployment. Working remotely isn't an option either. So instead I got to lay a bunch of people off and then cover their workload on top of my own. I honestly would've loved to have been locked down for a year or a year and half and now, knock on wood, that opportunity is gone.

I am on my 6th day and they are threatening a 7th, so I feel you. I personally did not get double unemployment. I burned through a bunch of savings, then filed but the double stuff ran out shortly after. I only got like one month of the stimulus unemployment. I had a mental breakdown during all that happening and started slinging masks because money was uncomfortably tight. I defaulted on three credit cards that I am now trying to pay off and due to thejeremy's reaction to covid and just back at work last Thursday, shit is still stupid tight.
I honestly couldn't have gone back to work even if I had even wanted to due to the mental issues that I experienced during lockdown. Others in my field did go back, but that wasn't even on the table for me. It was hard for me to go back and I had bad anxiety the first few weeks.

I know it was rough on you and I'm sorry that it set you back so much.

The week before layoffs happened at the restaurant, our dishwasher said “I gotta get something out of the car” and drove off to never return. I think a lot about him and wish he could have held on.
Sorry that you’re having to pull so much weight though. It sucks, I’m sure.

Hey everyone! If you want another round of free Covid tests, you can get them from the US Post Office website again. Ya never know when the next wave's gonna hit (*weeps*)
