getting rid of the vax mandate was an absolute mistake. now you have these mouthbreathers going around spreading covid everywhere. Mask mandate also should have stayed, even though it tends to have lower compliance
I loved the vax mandate because you can’t mask up in a bad (or I should say, it’s ineffective). Happily negative though. Hopefully I don’t get charged a $50 copay for this test.
I met a fairly nice older couple drinking outside of a bar last night. They seemed pretty nice and started bullshitting. They saw my license plate and the lady (from Capetown, South Africa) said she loved the "freedom" mindset of Florida relating to vaccines and such to which I replied, oh, so that we don't make our elderly relatives sick? She then started rattling off 90 year olds she knew that had this shot or that shot and still got Covid. I told them I never got it and had a sore arm only after my first of 3 Moderna shots. He informed me that was because I received a saline shot, so I didn't have any side-effects. I said, "I wasn't part of the vaccine trials." He said, "Everyone was" and proceeded to tell me that he used to work for the Department of State and spent a lot of time in the Mediterranean. He started talking about apparent rabble rousers in a conflict often being plants. Then went onto address Napoleon's mistake at Waterloo, taking over the Vatican and Knights Templar. My eyes were glazed over, and I politely went on my way. People are fucking nuts.

Someday I want to ask someone like this how deep they go into crazy theories.
So you believe I got saline instead of vaccine. Do you believe Trump won the election? Do you believe in Pizzagate? Do you think the moon landing was faked? Do you think birds are real? What about leprechauns? Tooth fairy?

A lot of them also probably believe crazy shit like that there’s an invisible and all-powerful sky man who grants wishes if you ask him in the right way, eat a slice of bread in a special building once a week, and treat a book written by humans literally thousands of years ago as the undisputed divine truth as to how to live life in the 21st century.
In all seriousness, though, we’ve made it entirely too easy to thrive in modern society if you are absolutely batshit insane. The Trump cult, Q, all this pandemic nonsense…and yet, people can get by and even be enormously successful as long as they feed the capitalist machine.
A guy who was one of my closest friends for many years has gone off the deep end on conspiracy stuff. We rarely talk anymore but the last time we did, he was going on about how famous people, including Michelle Obama, pronounce some common word (I forget which one) in a slightly unusual way in media interviews as a signal that they've been "compromised." I had a lot of questions but didn't want to hear the answers, so I pivoted the conversation to something else and ended it.

This is why I hate being anywhere else than liberal cities - other people’s insanity could effect my physical health. I hate it. I don’t want to care how other people conduct their lives!!

Let's be real. There are plenty of batshit crazy liberals, too.
One of them cornered me at Bonnaroo one year and before I knew what happened I had listened to between twenty minutes and six hours about why the good weather should be attributed to chemtrails.

Oh yes I never said liberal people! Just the Covid Laws & education that come with cities that put $ into testing, shots, and mandates for public health.
Some liberals are also anti vax. So weird. Stupid dark timeline.

After dodging covid for years it finally caught up to my family via my sweet little niece, who tested positive last night after we spent all day together. Fingers crossed for negative tests in our household later this week, especially because I'm about to leave for my first trip since covid dropped.

Two of my coworkers tested positive this weekend. Went to a pop up tent today & they don’t do free testing anymore. A serious joke considering shit’s rising again. Coworkers wear masks at work but of course all of our social lives have gotten busier & less “safe” in the last couple months.
Anyway, heads up for New Yorkers that ya gotta bring insurance to get tested now!
A lot of satellite testing places lost funding April 1st but I'd encourage everyone to check your local Health Department about free testing!
I have my last appointment with the Moderna study at Vandy next week. I'm going to ask them their opinion on a fourth booster.
I'd be interested to hear what they said. We haven't seen any compelling evidence for the general population but of course are still offering it for those who qualify.

They were not going to offer a second booster to the study participants. They did say it would be a good idea to get one 6 months after the first booster.

Do you have any idea of how your antibodies were after your first booster?

went from having pneumonia to covid. april can fuck right off
Well dang, but at least they didn't overlap? It's wild how many people I know with covid right now, especially since cases are still only slowly going back up. It's basically every person I know who didn't get nailed in December or January.

They separate, was told to go in to er since Im dealing with brain fog and confusion. Thankfully oxygen levels are good and symptoms don't seem overly concerning compared to what I dealt with in 2020 which would have gotten me a spinal tap. Hopefully vaccines continue to mitigate everything

Yeeeah, so if they could go ahead and authorize that for errbody, that’d be pretty swell.

My GF flew from Newark to Chicago this morning and WOW have people have really leaned into the non-mandatory aspect of mask usage in the airports & plane ride. She preemptively apologized for if she gets Covid on this trip. Her doctor did say that vaccines & mask usage does highly protect her, but of course it would be a lot better (and probably stop the virus in general) if everyone else did, too.
How fun to never relax even when you’re supposed to be excited about a trip! 🙃

My kid tested positive the night before my trip, but has been completely asymptomatic. I followed CDC guidelines and still went on my trip since I was vaccinated, boosted, & negative.
Vaccines work! My niece (3) and son (4) are the only people in the family who have tested positive. Even my 1 year old nephew is negative, we think he must've gotten some antibodies from my sister in law when she was pregnant or breastfeeding.

CDC is saying that 3 out of 4 kids have had covid. Vaccines do work, but I think a bunch of kids had it, were asymptomatic and weren't tested because, how would you know?
