from my research so far, i can say that for myself personally, if for some reason we don't allow acts to be drafted multiple times, the pool of headliners I would actually want to headline my ideal, fantasy coachella, would be very limited. like less than a dozen, with most going in the first two rounds.
You guys are crazy. There's 20 years of Coachella's to choose from. All of those headliners plus bands that haven't headlined but could. There's plenty for all of us.
This may be a stupid question, but when y'all draft an artist are you truly picking someone who you like the most? Or since it will all be decided by votes from everyone, are you drafting artists that you think the majority of everyone else on here will like?

People do both approaches. Personally, I pick stuff that I like.

Combination of both, naturally I am going to pick artists I like the most. But if there's something I like that the majority of the board doesn't, I won't draft them or I'll save them as a FA and put them against something more inforoo friendly on the schedule.

There should be a master list. I don’t have a strong opinion about whether it’s public or if someone just makes one and sends it to me, but I don’t really have the time to do that myself.
No repeat artists even if they play more than once.
Also, the best Coachella lineups are the ones with a surprise artist you didn’t see playing, like a reunion or just something out of the blue. If we’re just picking Coachella alums you won’t get that. I think everyone should be allowed to pick one reunion or non-alum. Have it be the last round before the I drafted portion.
I think having a reunion add as pretty major fantasy element to this. Seems like a pretty big jump to go from us having regular Coachella lineups and then suddenly they're all populated with Floyd/Zep/etc.
Ya I think it would be more fun to see which smaller acts people will promote to headliners than it would be to have 4 Radioheads and 3 ratm etc.
I like the one reunion idea but I think it should be a FA spot so there’s no real advantage to where you pick and anyone could have any reunion.
My thinking with having it not be FA would be that it would guarantee that everyone would have one unique act. But I don’t care too much.
I haven’t done drafts before but if someone had Byrne, that would mean no one could pick a TH reunion, right?
we would just have to make a rule one way or the other for exclusivity because we’ve never had that sort of option before really but it’s up to Bing and Fred if they even want to introduce that.

Yea, but who wants Jack Johnson, Phoenix or even Coldplay as a headliner. There’s like 30 good headliners (literally, I counted the ones I wanted) and the rest are meh.

exactly. yeah theres plenty to go around, but if we don't allow acts to be taken multiple times, a bunch of these "Coachella" lineups are gonna end up with Firefly level top lines.

i've obviously had no issue bumping artists up to HL in past drafts, but again, if we're trying to do something new here, lets actually do something new.

We only need 48 headliners. We can promote 18 non-headliners easy, and a “wild card” round would make it even easier. Everyone basically having two established headliners and one bump isn’t gonna make this Firefly.

I draft what I like in relation to how the board likes them. For example, I’m not a crazy big Tyler the Creator fan but I took him rd 3 because I knew I couldn’t get him later. We all have pretty similar tastes anyway.

Isn't having Prince or Daft Punk already giving us a big fantasy element? But yeah at the same time it'd be kind of weird to draft Floyd/Zep in the last round.

Well under my thinking you wouldn’t be able to draft Floyd if someone already took Waters, or The Smiths if someone already took Johnny Marr. So by doing it last round, most of the obvious acts would it’d force some creative thinking.

Pretty indifferent on the fantasy reunion idea... if others really want it I don't care, but I don't think it's necessary (especially if we're allowing acts to be drafted the number of times they've played overall, which I think is cool).
I don't like the idea of drafting acts only once as headliners/subs/undercard. Seems like it would get confusing immediately; just easier to let us draft and bill however we want

it's not the bump that makes it firefly, it's the lifeless established headliners that none of us want that people will get stuck with. the killers, KoL, rhcp etc.

Well why would you pick them when you could bump White Stripes or Amy Winehouse?

1. those are both already included in the dozen or so acts i was talking about that i would actually want as HLers.
2. Where do we stand on Amy? didn't she end up canceling?

Has Radiohead really headlined Coachella four times? I see three on setlist.fm: 2004, 2012, 2017. Even then, those are all different iterations of the band and we could use something to make Radiohead lose some of their luster, as opposed to every other draft where they pretty much automatically go first overall to the randomly-assigned person who gets the pick.

My photoshop kept crashing but I finally made a Coachella lineup psd. I’ll upload it later. There’s plenty of creativity to be had with it with colors, fest name, background, etc. I’ll through in some demo backgrounds if you guys wanna use them.
