Now that I’m actually reading this thread it sounds like a lot....
Your effort would be reduced dramatically if we all have the same list of artists to work from. So just take the correct side of that argument and play with us.
Just to let everyone know before we start. I'm still working. I know most of you are not. So I'll probably be slowing down the flow. Anyone else still working?
original questions where we felt we needed feedback; 1) How do we handle the tournament when it's 18/20 people? - Random.org. The highest seeds get first round byes. (Cdev, Pablo) - also, just set up a poll and allow multiple options for voting, put the competing acts next to each other on the poll, ex; (King T) - Randomized qualifying groups that advance a certain number to elimination play seems logical... (Nathan Fielder) - Sorry if it's already been suggested but we could have one round of voting for all twenty lineups and then the top sixteen move onto the tournament. (Jaz)
2) How about if there is a tie in the tournament phase? - Run off poll. Results hidden. (Cdev)
3) Voting during tournament? - poll? (Cdev) - public voting, Voting always is a little boring imo and hearing people's reasoning about why they picked one line up over another will generates conversation. Also gives us an idea of what people value and don't, which I think is always fun to see. (JTR) - For public voting (Silver Surfer, Tristan, Pablo, Jortles, Cap)
questions that came along the way; 1) Artists can be picked multiple times - yes (King T, Cdev, Pepe, Monie, Silver Surfer, Jaz, Pablo, Jortles, Cap) - no (Tristan, sang)
2) Allow a public list for eligible acts - yes (Cdev, Silver Surfer, Jortles, Cap) - no (King T, Nathan Fielder, Monie, Todd, JTR, Pepe) - indifferent (Jaz)
3) Allow the Coachella 2020 line up, even though it hasn't happend yet? - yes (King T, Todd, Pepe) - no (Cdev) - indifferent (Monie)
Correct me if I'm wrong here.
I'm a strong yes on a public list, but looks good otherwise!

Just my thoughts on this from the outside, but what if you just limited picking acts as headlining performance or not? Or headliner-sub-mid card? I.E. the max an artist could be picked would be 2-3 times, depending on if they played at Coachella multiple times and where they were billed (or up to 3 if you increase to that level). Someone can only pick an artist to "headline" if they headlined Coachella. Then someone can pick them as a sub if they subbed. I feel you could drown out too many acts that have played like 4 or 5 times that way.
So as an example: Tame Impala has up to 3 (and only 3) possible draft designations. Headliner (2019) sub-headliner (2015) and mid card (2013).
That way you broaden the scope of who can be drafted but eliminates gray area of acts drafted to like 6 different lineups.

definitely like the idea in theory, but i feel like it would become wayyy too much to keep track of

This sounds overly complicated imo. Also, unless we come up with an easy way to keep track this, I've become against the idea of multiple picks. I think it's good in theory, but I have no idea how we'd monitor and enforce it. Half the time we can't even keep track of who's up once people's turns run out.

For the record, I'd probably be more inclined to say nobody can be drafted twice at all. But if you are going to allow it, you have to limit it somehow.

No, cause we're drafting acts as they would be placed as of right now (there are also a few acts that have disbanded or have passed away but if they were still alive or active, you could place them on your line up as they would have been like the infinity draft) meaning Tame Impala would headline or atleast be on the topline of your line up if you already have a strong headliner-set. We're not drafting sets as pointed out earlier.

as i mentioned earlier, even if its not included in the master list, i think a good way to enforce it would be to state how many more times an act is available after its first time being picked. I.E, Tame Impala goes in round whatever, and then we establish that they can be taken 2 more times.

I just picture the masterlist having Tame Impala listed 3 times, and then once they've been picked once, the masterlist gets edited in a public excel doc and now they are only listed twice. Would be pretty sweet.
Kinda joking about the public doc, but that's how my version of the list will be edited throughout the process.

I actually said basically what Jaz said, having a first round where the bottom four are cut, and another thing cdev (I think) had said before about making five-person pools and eliminating the bottom vote getter in each pool. I'm pretty strongly opposed to anyone getting a bye out of pure luck.
On the list, I think it should be available. We're not tricking anybody. The lineups are out there, and if eligible artists are limited to a certain pool, we might as well know what they are. Saves us time so maybe the draft can run quicker, and I think part of the genesis of the idea was that it would be a brief jaunt relative to other drafts.
Just started with a possible board, this is hard as fuck.
In regards to 'not having enough headliners', there will be more than enough 'headlinerworthy' acts in the undercard that would be a headliner now I feel like. Do you guys want us to say how many times an act is still available every time or how do you guys see that? In regards to not having enough acts in general, I think that should be fine with 150-ish acts across 20 editions but we will double check ofcourse.
I don't think DoLab/Heineken House or any side stuff stuff going on should be included, right?
Yea, I think allowing acts to be chosen based on how many times they've played could be a nice little change, but the more I think about it I'm not sure how we'd keep track... If an undercard act has played like 6 times, would we just have to know that up front and then count down how many picks that artist has left? That sounds complicated. Maybe just keep it to once per act.
List every artist in the OP. If they played multiple times, list them twice. Cross them off as selected.

Fred and I have been discussing all of the questions that have been asked throughout the pages and are trying to find a compromise. We're gonna start working on changes and see if they're both good for you guys but also managable for us. We will try to post that as soon as possible.

Me. Also, I've had to lay off 2/3 of my team so I'm doing like three people's jobs.

Same. I just finished my sheet and without removing multi-listed acts, and no DoLab/Heineken House/Secret Sets there are 2,700 acts.
