I kinda like the idea of having teammates randomly assigned just to avoid any awkward situations, but if we do get to pick our teammates I have a few good ideas for pretty logical collaborators

I think randomly assigned teammates could create more awkward situations throughout the draft than we sorting it ourselves.

Though it could be cool to see what a team with completely different tastes could come up with but I'm not sure how fun that'd be for the people involved

That's a good point. People with differing tastes could disagree on drafting tactics, plus I could see people who check the site with more or less frequency getting frustrated with each other.
Just wouldn't want anyone to feel like they were being boxed out and no one wanted to draft with them. But below all the levels of trolling and irony, I think we're a friendly enough group that probably wouldn't happen

You don't think that would make it more awkward?
I was thinking awkward solely in terms of people not being able to find a partner. Definitely lots of potential for interpersonal awkwardness after that initial process

The bolded is a big concern but yeah you've got a point there with people being left out as well. But I agree, I think we're a friendly enough group for everyone to be able to find a partner fairly quickly if they want in.
I kinda like the idea of theme rounds and each round being randomly ordered. Everyone has to fill the same genre or theme slots on their line up but they can obviously bill however.

At some point I think people dont want big name acts that potentially take away from whatever names they want to showcase on their poster. I happen to have no such issue lol
