I do think that for comedians it is much harder to separate the art from the artist since the personal life of the comedian is such a huge source of material.
I think putting Bowie in the same category as Louis is a reach.

I saw the pun doc when it came out, and idk that one for me his wife doesn't defend him but she didn't hold it against him because to her no one else saw how bad his life really was.
Lennon was an abusive husband/father the first time around, but he remarried had another kid and seemed to be at a point in his life where he admitted his issues and was working towards them. Something that others simply just didnt do.
What Louis did was assault, it could be charged as assault, those girls clearly weren't saying yes masturbate in front of me, and they all felt off put enough to come forward when they felt it was safe. i did think it was a pretty interesting 'experiment' in the coachella draft that no one pulled the trigger on Gaslamp Killer during the draft, but almost half the people caved in free agency
