Catchella will be taking the spot of what was one of my favorite festivals in the world, Sasquatch, and take place on Memorial Day weekend at The Gorge.
Catchella’s focus is keyed around two main factors:
First, is to be welcoming to as diverse of an audience as possible. Catchella has all of the major categories of music that make up the modern festival landscape: with full stages dedicated to Rap, Pop, Jam, and Electronic music, and runs of different styles of all of these genres with a Latin run on Saturday, and different styles of Rap runs throughout the weekend. Catchella has many of the most critically acclaimed acts of all time between Led Zeppelin, John Coltrane, Van Morrison or Nico, but also has a stage dedicated to acts that are decided not critically acclaimed to make sure that everyone feels welcome.
Second, is to highlight acts that are difficult to see play live in 2020. This is through two different lenses: #1 Acts that are dead, defunct, or inactive. Ex: Zeppelin, John Coltrane, Michael Jackson, Grateful Dead, The Police, Destiny’s Child, The Allman Brothers. Its impossible to see any of these acts anymore unless you are Marty McFly. The other set of acts are acts that have a financial barrier to entry, with extremely expensive tickets for bad seats in Arenas or Stadiums such as: U2, Guns N’ Roses, Eric Clapton, Coldplay, Taylor Swift, Eminem, or Garth Brooks. Sure, for diehard fans these are acts that tour (Clapton albeit only in NYC or LA recently) and can be seen, but for anything close to a good seat these shows will run fans upwards of $200-300 bucks and just getting in the door at a big show is over $100 bucks.
At the end of the day, this festival will have eight hours and forty five minutes of sets by Led Zeppelin, The Grateful Dead, and Michael Jackson. That's what I'm most excited for, for sure.
Friday: KRS-One > Dave Matthews Band > Vampire Weekend > Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band > Led Zeppelin > The Allman Brothers Band
Saturday: Tedeschi Trucks Band > 13th Floor Elevators > DUUUVAL Superjam > The Isley Brothers > Michael Jackson > Drake > The Police
Sunday: Lynyrd Skynyrd > John Coltrane > T.I. > U2 > Eminem > The Grateful Dead
He is by me with Eric B but I'm not following anymore with what's allowed and what's not but I've looked into it and Rakim just plays his own stuff so I'm assuming it's fine?
Idk shouldn't be any different than what we did for Gibbs
Its kinda the opposite so I think its ok. Gibbs was taken and someone wanted Gibbs + Madlib. Like taking St Vincent after St Vincent and David Byrne was ok

most stages have their own headliners each night and The Gorge stage has two. Staggering some times with that as much as possible. Thinking about this as a somewhat Glastonbury style framework.
