I have to say... it was really amazing that Big Ears issued refunds for this year's event. I have a considerable sum of money tied up in "Postponed" events that are either so far off in the future, that I don't know if I will be able to attend, or they haven't even bothered to hint about a new date. I'm likely to be VERY cautious about purchasing any future tickets, without a vaccine in place. Big Ears is the exception. I trust that if things won't work out, they'll make everything "right." So even with my reservations about a 2-weekend event during the pandemic, I'm in. 100%.

So, in anticipation of next week's "2021 announcement," I thought I'd check into TN and see what the usual venues have on their plate:
Tennessee Theatre: Films are screening as early as 10/4. No mention in the event about capacity / social distancing mitigations, that I was able to find on their website.
Bijou Theatre: Limited ticket event as early as 9/25, concert on 10/16. No mention I could find about capacity...
Mill & Mine: Concert on 10/28. Again, no mention that I could find about capacity / social distancing.
So, unless I'm missing caveats on how these events will be held, there's definitely an optimistic "back to business as usual" pattern here. Which does make me think, they're going to go ahead and announce an on-sale date next week.
And if that happens, it'll be curious to see how many will bite. On one hand, the general population is hungry for normalcy and music fans for live events. On the other hand, I'm going to go out on a limb and say that the primary market for Big Ears is not your typical Smash Mouth / MAGA no-mask-rally audience. There may be more hesitation from this audience, in terms of buying tickets during this uncertainty, than a two weekend event could weather.
Me? If social distancing / limited capacity accommodations are accounted for in the announcement, I'm definitely in. If not, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
While I'm confident that if things became really bad, they'd cancel & refund, I really don't know what I'd do. I'm honestly torn between "buy that VIP ticket immediately" vs. wait, risk VIP selling out, and choose to buy closer to the actual date (seeing where we are at with the Pandemic)... as the thought of being packed with others near the front of the stage at the Mill & Mine / Standard, sans-vaccine, makes me a little weary.
