Love how Juggs has one minor inconvenience with a rule and pretends the rule shouldn’t exist when it’s actually made the drafts a lot easier
What inconvenience did I have? I didn’t draft the presently disputed act.
you’re doing this with absolutely with absolutely no stake? That’s even worse. The rule works fine. The DJ rule was made to differentiate Plastikman / Hawtin, Caribou / Daphni, etc. acts who are solo who go by different names. It was kinda unclear draft to draft in the past.
Ok, after further investigation and realizing that my team had actually done this event, ZHU Blacklizt is actually not even an act but a secret party concept.
It’s just a ZHU dj set where he likes to debut unreleased music. The tracklist I pulled up originally was from the Do LaB secret Blacklizt set and that had more than 6 ZHU tracks.
The Joshua Tree Blacklizt party that Bing pulled up had a full 28 minutes of new ZHU music being debuted.
So that means Peter Hook and the Light contains no members of a previously drafted act and the rule doesn't apply. Why even bring up Hook? He can play whatever he wants. New Order's Substance would be my pick.
lmao I hate these stupid rules and I really didn't know where Hook fell.
Felt very Phil Leah/Dead and Co. Went Unknown Pleasures just to stay on the safe side.

shhhh Juggs is the only person who thinks the dumb rule is poorly constructed

And the rule just seems silly in a lot of contexts. Like say Raekwon and Ghostface played 6 Wu-Tang songs at their show. Does it make sense that the fact that they performed two verses from 6 songs means they’re completely excluded? Seems silly.

Also before I forget to clarify this, in voting, you’re free to use decimal points. I plan on voting like 8.8, 5.2, etc. I think some end up really close. I actually encourage this.

The six song rule is just silly, especially in regards to DJs and rap acts and should be put in the toilet
I get why the rule would appear unnecessary to someone who doesn’t understand the history of these drafts, but it was a way to define exclusivity and it actually expanded the amount of acts you could take.
Originally, if someone took Planetarium, that person would have the rights to every single band that included those humans. If you took Gorillaz, you got Gorillaz, Blur, Albarn solo all with one pick. Pretty sure at one point drafting Tame Impala took Pond off the table.
Then when we went all the way in the other direction and removed that sort of exclusivity l, especially in the Infinity Draft the following acts were all drafted separately: Beyonce, Jay Z, Beyonce & Jayz, The Throne, Jay Z and R Kelly, Jay Z and Linkin Park, Drake & Lil Wayne, Drake, Lil Wayne, Colle Grove, Miles Davis, Miles Davis Quintete, Dr Dre, Snoop Dogg, Dr Dre & Snoop Dogg.
Then the 6 song rule came in and made it to where we have like 4 exclusivity questions per game. If you can improve it, go for it. Write out the rule that makes most sense. Nobody should turn down a clearly better option.
damn this Tkay pick was a heater. Im way behind and just listened now. Feels like the Little Simz Grey Area of this year. Really fucking good and perfect Thursday Roo act that they would stupidly book at 12:30 pm on sunday.
I'm listening to it now after this comparison. It's so good.

That wasn't the original rule. That rule was put in place after krisp, who is no longer allowed to draft or even post on the site, bitched about someone drafting Blur when he had Gorillaz, which was dumb as shit.

Remember when someone tried to draft Eminem & Rihanna as an act bc they did a tour together. 😂 It went to poll. Can’t remember if they were allowed to keep it.

I want to know the story with Krisp
He made multiple accounts to vote for himself and still didn’t win. Lifetime draft ban.

As far as betting banned from drafts, he supposedly had made additional accounts to vote for himself in the draft.
As far as the site, he was a right-wing troll in the politics thread. I forget what exactly was the final straw though itrainmonkeys

oh man can I draft Cage and Beck? They even had a song together!

That's not how festivals work.
this actually predates me then. That sounds like the Joker in Dark Knight “here.. we... go..” moment

What you’re saying makes total sense and I agree with it. When you draft an act, you draft the act itself and not the people who make up the act. Im not arguing otherwise- for example, I don’t think that you should draft Phish and also get the Trey Anastasio Band.
I just think the six song rule seems a little unnecessary. Like, even if Trey played six Phish songs at his show, it’s still a completely distinct act. Like I mentioned earlier, I don’t think it diminishes the value of taking Phish because very few people are gonna be like hmmm I really love Phish but I’d rather see the only few Phish songs Trey plays. If someone prefers TAB to Phish it’s probably not on the basis of the Phish songs he plays. Like I stated earlier, I’d actually prefer seeing Damon Albarn to Gorillaz and it’s certainly not because he plays Gorillaz songs in his set list.

This was all Fozzie. But I can assure you she’ll have a prime time Thursday spot at our fest.

What was the original issue in non-infinity Drafts with just having the backing band rule to where you couldnt take NY and PotR after someone else takes NY and CH?
Theres no question in my mind that the vultures need to be dealt with in the Infinity draft. It doesnt seem like there are as many important examples in the current drafts.
