Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
I’m against the schedule template. What made Bonnaroo of old special was the “anything goes” approach to scheduling. I think it’d be good to reflect that if the team wanted.
I definitely understand this from someone who hasnt done like 7 drafts in the last year in a half.
But I think even you would find that there really isnt much fun in creating your own schedule, and since you have the freedom to create your schedule however you please, you wont be as focused on who you are drafting for what timeslot throughout the draft.
I keep telling you people I am not a draft guy. garageland and I covered a long time ago that we would love the shit out of any festival we booked but would like sell about 40 tickets. People don't care about Botch reunions like they should.
We could use your knowledge of random noisy rock bands for our undercard.

Disagree. I’m already looking forward to scheduling things based on who we have in mind. I think it’d be OK to have both options.

So if the set schedule has a slot from 2:00 am to 4:30 am, you are here to say that stretching to end of that set from 4:30 to 4:45 is a game changer?
I'm skeptical of the idea that you have such a foreign schedule timing idea that it would significantly change what you are trying to do in the game. And if there was something so shitty about the template, we would just edit it and agree upon a template that would work.
I don’t like a schedule template but I like the idea of having a set number of slots per stage / per day. The actual timing could vary
An interesting compromise for sure. And I'm thinking about just making a template that people can start from if they would like... to reduce work for some that don't enjoy that random 5 hours on a Saturday.
My main worry with a schedule template is it’d potentially neuter Late Night and side stages. I think a blended system would work.
I don't mean to be mean or annoying or anything, but I really want to talk through this idea on a conceptual level as I am playing the long game and hoping for this to become a thing in a draft maybe a year out from now when I run one.
How would it neuter late night or side stages? We would all agree on this schedule and make sure it didn't do that.

If the template and/or metrics were decided collectively beforehand, that’d be great. But I don’t like the idea of having, say, only one to two late night sets per stage (especially if we are including things like House of Yes and Kalliope). It’d be cool to have some all-night artist(s), for example, even on the Which.
However, I understand Bonnaroo has changed a lot from inception to now, particularly with scheduling. So I’m open to ideas, but just wanted to say I don’t like the idea of a “one size fits all” template decided by one person. It’s a tough one.

There was 117 artists on the 2020 lineup for roo. Maybe we can do a slightly longer draft and everyone has to end up at a similar level of artists by the end (like no one can take 10 free agents and call it a day) but 100 rounds of drafting would suck

The rounds will go by faster with less picks and two people picking.

we shall see about that. I could see deliberation taking longer

i think it would be reasonable to have this draft be 50 rounds considering the normal roo draft is 35 rounds and you’re in a team so you can cover more bases but those last rounds are going to be rough

5 acts per pick during the final 10-15 rounds. would be absolutely lit and people would be interested throughout the entire draft.

i'm down for that.
esp since I'm not sure I could do 50 rounds. That's a big reason I don't do the infinity draft. My attention span struggles for 35 rounds.

I tentatively like this idea, with one big reservation: won't it be wildly skewed to benefit teams that are near the beginning of the snake, as they'll reasonably be able to snag 5 "higher rated/more desirable" picks in a row, til it eventually gets down to the last-pick team where tonssssssss of shit has been snagged that round already
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

It'd be at the end of the draft so hopefully you would've already nabbed the good stuff you wanted

FWIW, we've been all over the place with the number of rounds.

I think you ramp it up as I mentioned in an earlier post. 1 act through 20 rounds. 2 through 25. 3 through 35, etc until we have all our acts. If you went from 1 to 5 you could just randomize the order at that point again.
Tranter said on the pod that the draft runners absolutely want Free Agents though, which is one of the worst parts of the entire game. I pay a lot of attention to this game, but I didn't look at a single free agent reveal list this year. I only looked at the posters and schedules that came with them. Not 1 time did I give a shit about those lists, and it reliably causes an obvious amount of crossover and for the front half of every scheduled day to look boring.
