So, you know how Boston Calling would always follow their next edition's performers on Twitter before the lineup drop? Well, now they're doing the early follows on Instagram.

i’ll be honest, this aint doing much for me. Gizz, orville peck, phoebe, hinds, avril lavigne are the standouts for me.

Again, don't assume that anyone from the 2020 poster is in the 2022 lineup. I can't imagine that they unfollowed everyone from the cancelled 2020 edition just because it was cancelled, so don't take any of this as confirmation that Orville Peck, Phoebe Bridgers, Djo, Jack Harlow, etc. are performing in 2022. Only the names which haven't been on any of their previous posters are likely 2022 bookings.
Some of them could very well be back on the poster next year, but not because they're currently followed on Instagram, because those follows date back two years.

Unless this is a new development since 4+ days ago, the Boston Calling instagram also follows Elton John, Taylor Swift, Beyonce, Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Stapleton, Pearl Jam, Guns n Roses, Rolling Stones, etc... So I wouldn't really look to that for clues

Well, those follows certainly weren’t there when I first checked.

King Gizz all but confirmed due to new dates putting them in vermont two days before the fest and a gap for BC
I don't listen to them but it seems like they're pretty popular, right? Would they be blue stage closer opposite Run The Jewels or something like that? Or are they not quite big enough for that?

Well, they have a long track record of following acts they've booked, before they're announced, on social media. Maybe they follow a handful of superstars because of their importance to the music industry.
Or maybe they're trying to throw us off the scent, after I tweeted them asking when they're going to be following The Strokes.
In any event, in addition to following a bunch of superstars very recently, they've also just followed a whole bunch of new acts who aren't arena/stadium headliners. A few of them almost certainly *aren't* playing Boston Calling; they now follow Wilco, who are running their own festival across the state on the same three days.
Something just occurred to me...what if they're bringing back Eaux Claires festival this year and that explains all of the Americana follows. Or maybe they're launching another festival, in Boston or elsewhere, with more of an Americana focus.
I'd be thrilled to get a second festival inside the Rt. 128 beltway with a similar focus to Newport or Beach Road. That would be wonderful.

Those gizz dates have to lock them in. It’s tough to tell exactly where they’re billed but I’d guess either second to last on green or second to last on red, like the Lord Huron or Big Red Machine spot

They're playing a bunch of large club/ballroom shows in the northeast right around Boston Calling, for whatever that says about their popularity. They'd probably play Roadrunner or House of Blues if coming to town as a headliner.

Could PJ be the third headliner? Rescheduled US tour coming in May and no previously announced Boston show.
nah thats doubtful, 1: they charge a shitload for their fee and 2: the strokes not opening for rchp on only the boston date of the tour raises many more eyebrows to me

I put together a mock. Based on 2020's with 13 artists per day, not including DJs or comedians. It's more optimistic than what I think we'll actually get and I didn't check all the tour dates so some of these artists might be ruled out, but let me know your thoughts.
