Spoon, Yola, and Kikagaku Moyo are pretty much all I’d want from Bottlerock.
Yola would be great and I feel like BC normally gets Americana names the year after they play Newport so that’d track
Yola was one of their new IG follows before they then followed 50+ more artists to throw us off the trail. I do think that she's got a February show at Big Night Live, but they've booked artists who played a club/ballroom venue in Boston a few months before the festival before.
I'd be happy to see her in the lineup. She's definitely one of those artists whom I'm not going to spend money to see headline, but would definitely see at a festival or as an opening act, if I was going to see the headliner anyway.
It is a full three months between Boston Calling and Beach Road. Plus, artists have played Newport Folk and done Boston shows within a few months of each other in recent years, so I wouldn't rule it out entirely.
even so, itd be more likely they make appearances at Solid Sound the same weekend, because that fest books mostly Americana stuff which BC seemed to be pivoting away from in the 2020 lineup aside from Isbell
Wilco tends to book a lot of indie rock, jazz, and avant-folk at Solid Sound, including their own side projects. Dawes seems a little too middle-of-the-road for their lineups.

You should spend money to see her headline. She’s fantastic. There’s a video I’ll link when I get to my computer of her singing with Dawes at Newport in 2019 that I rewatch pretty regularly and I think you’d enjoy.
Also looking at last year’s Newport lineup I could see BC booking Caamp, Erin Rae, and Lake Street Dive
The Shaky Knees lineup is a thing of beauty. Two of my top half dozen favorites, another few that I have bought or would buy tickets to see, and plenty more that I'm curious about...but not so much that appeals to me that there are too many frustrating conflicts in the schedule. Not one act in the top line that I wouldn't be excited to see (again or, in the case of NIN, for the first time).

Lake Street Dive is out. They're doing two nights at Roadrunner within a week or two of Boston Calling.
So, no one's seen any Boston Calling "big news tomorrow" posts on social media yet, have they?
I suspect that all of the Rage uncertainty is pushing the announcement back by a week or two.
I don't buy that there could be Rage uncertainty today that didn't exist on Monday, and if it existed Monday then they wouldn't have teased that the lineup was coming this week. Whether they're on it or not, I still think we are getting the lineup tomorrow.

Exactly. I feel like they would’ve informed both Coachella and Boston Calling at the same time.

Perhaps since Rage hasn't said- either the members themselves or their team- anything, they are waiting for Coach to drop to put out a 'so we are {insert postponement of first few shows/postponing to 2023/calling off tour entirely) due to (insert covid related or otherwise reason here). we are sorry to the fans who held on...' statement so as to just not deal with further 'why did they drop/are they dropping' questions...? Idk, the argument could be if they were gonna drop from Both they should have said something already, but who knows lol

That makes perfect sense, but does the fact that Coachella hasn't announced yet mean that Boston Calling will wait until Coachella drops first?

Just a reminder that the artists they followed on Instagram (not including already announced artists), before adding a bunch of additional names to throw us off the trail, are:
Poorstacy Charlotte Sands Paris Jackson Pom Pom Squad Julie Rhodes OGSwaggerdick Evan Kenney Avril Lavigne Blackbear HINDS Maggie Rose King Gizzard The Backseat Lovers Mob Rich Oliver Tree Trackstar the DJ Yola
Add those to the lineup already announced, and that's around half of the 50+ artists. But, if twenty of those 50 or so artists are local comedians and DJ's, then there are really only around half a dozen Green*Red*Blue performers not yet announced or in this group.
We'll see...hopefully tomorrow.

There's a ton of great stuff on that Coach lineup I could see BC pulling through with
Baby Keem IDLES Gizz slowthai BADBADNOTGOOD Amyl and the Sniffers Megan? Caribou?? Caroline Polachek Freddie Gibbs & Madlib Arlo Parks Japanese Breakfast Beach Bunny black midi Mannequin Pussy Doja Cat? Jamie xx J.I.D. Vince Staples Chicano Batman Orville Peck Channel Tres Yola Crumb Sampa the Great Viagra Boys Altin Gun
Would have loved to see them on the lineup, unfortunately they have shows at the Paradise May 18th/19th so I think they are pretty much out at this point

Coachella lineup will be a nightmare for conflicts, I gotta start cross referencing whos there and at Prima lmao
There should be a festival app where you enter all of the festivals you're attending that year, give performers 0-5 stars based upon your level of interest in seeing them, and then it suggests daily schedules for you which enable you to see as many artists you want to catch as possible over the course of that festival season.
It could also sync with your streaming music platform of choice, or integrate a self-selected 25 favorite artists of all time list, to make suggestions about artists you might like, but don't necessarily know enough about to put on your schedule. (It would work more effectively than the Netflix algorithm which suggests shows to watch, hopefully.)

This is actually a genius idea and you should not put it out there on the internet bc someone will steal,it and make millions

I work in tech, but I don't write code or engineer things, so I can't do anything with my software ideas, anyway.

ya that million dollar market for that massive segment of people who are as deranged as we are about festivals
