Well, see you all here tomorrow morning. I'm going into the lineup drop with really low expectations for seeing anyone I really like below the top line, but I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised by at least two artists other than The Strokes that I'd pay money to see.
alright, pretty easily best case. metallica has been second on the bucket list behind rage for a while for me. let's roll
edit: also, i basically never say this, but greatest hits set please
I just checked out their recent festival setlists on Setlist.fm. Most were festivals where they headlined two nights, so it seems unlikely that they'd be representative of single night festival appearances.
Do they really have any hits other than Enter Sandman and One?

Their cover of Last Caress hit #1 in 12 countries and sold 6 million copies
edit: replaced Doja with Megan. Former seems way too big to sub anywhere but coachella
Megan or Doja would be so out of place there I think, I think similar to 2020 they are just gonna ignore the more top 50 acts. I could see it being this, just minus Megan

good point, i would just hate to see only one non male artist in the top 9

I would expect something similar to Atlanta and Hollywood, FL last year. The 4 festivals last year where they did 2 nights each, they did first night of hits, second night Black Album in full, but they aren't doing Black Album at regular shows (like ATL and Hollywood). Atlanta and Hollywood got a greatest hits set but added like 4 Black Album songs and Seek and Destroy on it. They do 16 songs nowadays so for a festival they will do Sandman, Nothing, Bellz, One, Master, Seek. Personally I hope they throw a EU festival set since they always play better setlists over there and that is where they are heading to after Boston lol
Sources tell Stereogum that Metallica was booked after all the positive feedback from the leaked poster for Coachella that we reported on earlier this month
yeah, average show for sure - i just hope to avoid the "Black Album in Reverse" show that they did a lot of last year since it takes up so much of the set with songs I'm not too concerned about hearing

yea boss - For Whom The Bell Tolls, Sad But True, Nothing Else Matters, Creeping Death, Master of Puppets, Fade to Black, Battery, The Unforgiven amongst others

Kind of an irrelevant question because neither will be on this lineup, but are you saying Doja is a bigger name than Megan? That can't be true. I don't really listen to either of them but i feel like way more people know megan thee stallion. And i guess by "more people" maybe i mean "more old people", where old means my age (33) plus. (And given the headliners, the crowd is going to skew older than a lot of other festivals.)

i was just going by billing and streaming numbers. Doja is 2nd on her day at Coachella while Meg is 3rd. Also Doja has nearly double the monthly listeners of Meg

Finally feeling excited about this lineup for the first time in a bit. I seriously just assumed they were gonna get someone terrible to replace Rage, but Metallica is about as good as it gets. Can't wait for this thing tomorrow

I’m very excited to see it as well. also two headliners i’m indifferent about means I have a lot more reason to be excited for the red and blue closers.
inb4 Tyler Childers is subbing for Metallica or some shit like they did with Isbell and Foo Fighters
that would be absolutely hilarious BUT they also had 2 stadium acts and rage eating up all the budget. the strokes being the 3rd should leave them with some extra money for the undercard
ok the rapist part i cant find anything on but he is a pedophile https://www.reddit.com/r/h3h3productions/comments/q7xky9/machine_gun_r_kelly/
I'm not a fan of the guy at all, but trying to paint him a pedophile for some stupid tweets about teenage girls when he was 18-20 is a big stretch.
Theres probably a lot more shit buried somewhere pre twitter. And you cant just say the dudes being dumb cause he was 18. If everyone excused what people did at 18 we would be in a bigger pile of….. wait, sorry, bret kavanaugh is a supreme court justice, nvm.
