If we get a good mix of that I'm there
Also I know she's playing Boston in Feb but Remi Wolf would crush a set here and I'd be super excited to see her on the lineup
Sources tell Stereogum that Metallica was booked after all the positive feedback from the leaked poster for Coachella that we reported on earlier this month
Damn. I thought this quote was fake when I first saw it. Then I saw the lineup and thought it was real. Now I realize once again it’s fake. What a rollercoaster of emotion!
I just don't know so many artists on here. They may be quality artists but it just feels like a fairly different vibe than what the lineups they were putting out in 2017-2019

it feels like a watered down Shaky knees with much bigger headliners. I honestly prefer something like 17-19 as well. This is a huge step up from 2020 but its just, meh

Yeah Shaky's falls off for me at the bottom too though, but it's got a handful more names I'd be excited for. Amyl and the Sniffers, Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, or Acid Dad would've been nice to complement King Gizz, who I feel look a little out of place on this lineup.
Honestly all the lineups this year feel like they're missing that last little something for my tastes. They're all 50-70% of the way there

I feel like you could say this about festivals across the US in general though

That's what I ended up saying in my last post, it's definitely a down year. I'm hoping the more niche genre stuff like Newport and Desert Daze pull through
Also to be fair, I would've been a lot more interested with Rage still on there. Metallica are definitely the best possible replacement, but I've just never been very into them while RATM is a top 10 bucket list show for me
I'm fine with the top half of the lineup, there's some decent stuff there.
The bottom half, either I need to do a bunch of exploring or I can show up at 4 everyday.
Same here, but starting the day late makes it more attractive to catch a late show the night before, or tour something in Boston (Sam Adams brewery comes to mind).
Definitely still in for this. Excited to see additions of Japanese Breakfast, Goose and Modest Mouse- love MM's new songs. And this is the prime opportunity to see Metallica for the first time, as they've never been a priority attraction for me.
Bummed about Rage dropping out, but their whole tour lay ahead, with plenty of shows in the northeast, and maybe a Fall festival (Firefly) or two...if we're lucky.
Note to Weezer- do NOT play your "Enter Sandman" cover the same night you're subbing for Metallica!
somewhere in between butt rock and shaky knees. not buttrock enough to book acts like chevelle, but still books butt rock headliners and a few butt rock undercard acts
It's a slow buttrock pivot. They're playing the long game. When Avenged Sevenfold and Disturbed headline in 2 years it will have felt gradual enough where it's not jarring.
They’ve pivoted like 3 times in their existence lol
this festival has just never had a true sense of identity and its kinda sad. I would have preferred they stuck to the Gov Ball New England trend they were going toward the last 3 iterations
Anyone know which year in this bigger format sold the best?
not sure as a whole but I know Saturday of 2019 and Sunday of 2018 were the best selling days ever. Sunday 2018 was Eminem, so stadium level act and Saturday of 2019 was like a mini Coachella quality lineup

But GovBall has gotten away from their sense of NYC identity in the last year and become a mix of JingleBall and Rolling Loud with lower level headliners.
it's gonna be real weird if The Strokes aren't on this thing
if they aren't i have no choice but to submit to the theory that they all have warrants in mass
Oh, I'm heading down to Encore Casino right before the festival and putting $500 down on three Massachusetts State Police officers walking onstage in the middle of The Strokes set to arrest one of them.
definitely more well balanced than 2020 but still falls off pretty quickly
This. After the top 2 lines (including the headliner as the top line) i care about 0 people friday, really like 2 people saturday, and casually like 2 people sunday. Big dropoff.
Seeing Olivia Rodrigo on your list of upcoming shows, you might want to check out Pom Pom Squad.
