If I'm reading Wikipedia right, NIN right now is only Trent and Atticus
Dude that show is going to blow your mind just based off of their movie scores over the past decade. Wow.
Member wise it is both of them now, its just really a formality and likely credit/royalty stuff too. NIN was really just Trent up until about 5 years ago. Go look up the live band line ups and youll see a nice list of talent theyve had over the years. The main staple in the live area has been Robin Finck who has been there since 1994. And they dont play their movie score music live anyway. The closest they got to that was in 2008 for Lights In The Sky when they had tracks from the Ghosts releases put in the setlist. You can watch that show here. I honestly would say to not expect a crazy stage production either.
This kid is seriously out here tagging the Better Business Bureau and a band called False Advertising 🤦♀️
Oh, this guy's a trip...
The urge to troll is so strong. I've already yelled at three southies (who are acquaintances) in the last 24 hours who are still mad that Foot Fighters "need that long to recover"

Well I am certainly not one to complain about the change in acts... Still a very strong lineup.
but unfortunately for me, I am needing to sell off two passes, which I purchased early May 2021. A lot can happen in a year's time, including a newborn. Despite efforts, it does not look plausible to make this trip.
So if anybody out there is interested in two 3-day passes, I'll take $333/each, which is about what I paid for early bird layaway. Message me if ya interested!
Unsure of the likelihood but as a poster collector, I hope both NIN and Metallica have lithographs for this fest. Metallica did for OSL 2017 and ACL 2018 but they didn't have any for the 2021 festivals.

this is gonna be interesting- Modest Mouse just announced a show in Providence legit 11 days AFTER Boston calling, for the 2nd week of June, and in years past I dont recall any BC acts playing even close to Boston within a few months after, never mind days, of the festival. makes me wonder If BC's radius clause changed/if we'll see any acts from BC announce post-festival area-shows almost directly after the festival over the coming weeks. would be great if glass animals returned to RI instead of me paying a single day pass lol
Bad news for anyone who lives on or near the Blue line or has secured a hotel or airbnb in or near Revere, MA. There's going to a Blue line diversion in May, running through Sunday, May 29.
This means that the MBTA will be running shuttle buses following a portion of that subway line, stopping at each station along the diverted portion of the line. You can still get where you're going, but it will take a lot longer, due to the wait for shuttle buses and traffic delays.
This is the first MBTA diversion I can recall taking place on a holiday weekend.
If you're driving in from the north shore, NH, etc., you're better off parking at Alewife (as you would be, even without the diversion), or somewhere along the "north of the city" Orange line stations, and avoiding the shuttle buses.

Maybe that has something to do with where the artists are in the lineup. They're probably more concerned with headliners and Red/Blue closers than acts farther down the poster. Modest Mouse appears to be in the same sort of slot that Anderson .Paak and King Princess were in on Saturday 2019; the acts that go on before the subheadliners.

The red line has been on shuttle busses from alewife to at least Harvard for the last few months. Not sure there's an end in sight honestly.
Actually, that's been a thing for only around eight weekends per year over the course of the last couple of years. They did the Harvard-Alewife diversion for the last two weekends, and I'm sure that it will be back again eventually, but that's never been in place for more than a couple of weekends at a time. I vaguely recall that it may have run for one longer stretch of weekends a few years ago.
I live in Arlington and I'm car-free, so I notice these diversions when they happen. The 77 bus line is constantly delayed during the diversions, due to sharing the upper bus mall at Harvard Square with so many shuttle buses. I'm sure that the same thing happens to every other regularly running line which starts at the upper bus mall.
I bet they don’t do construction on Memorial Day weekend though
They are doing it on the Blue line, through that Sunday, anyway.
if it was closer to the city it would be an issue. when you first posted the link i thought it was going to be between like Maverick and Aquarium. anything out beyond Airport barely exists. won't have a substantial impact on boston calling commutes

I live on the red line near alewife and I am also car free and have to go into the city every weekend, there's been at least three weekends within the last month or two it's been shuttles. The past two weekends have been alewife-harvard but before that it was alewife to either central or kendall.

I know, it all blurs together after a while. I know they've done some Harvard to Kendall and Kendall to Park Street diversions from time to time.
I can't see them doing any of this on Boston Calling weekend. With downtown Boston events and Fenway Park, there are multiple subway, rail, and bus lines that can get you there, but Boston Calling (at the current location, anyway) has always made the walk to-and-from Harvard Square the recommended means of arrival and departure. It would take some sort of accident or unforeseen infrastructure issue (similar to what happened at Government Center recently) for them to shut the Red Line down that weekend.

As I'm seeing lineup drop after lineup drop, I'm increasingly impressed with what Boston Calling has booked, compared to other multi-genre festivals of similar size, but I absolutely hate the poster.
Not the lineup, just the poster.
While this has been a banner year for graphic design in the festival industry, with so many lineup posters filled with art that would look great on a wall or a t-shirt, the Boston Calling poster looks like the graphic design equivalent of brutalist architecture. It's just so incredibly ugly.
While Boston Calling has never had particularly eye-pleasing graphic design, what they came up with for 2020 was terrible. And while they could have taken that year's subsequent cancellation as an opportunity to spruce up the artwork, they doubled down on the ugly.

After doing Coachella this past weekend, Ive come to moreso appreciate the yearly tradition of Boston Calling. having northeast weather instead of desert weather w no dust or bullshit is something i never realized was such a benefit of BC. Not to mention the shorter walks from stage to stage. Big fests are fun but its really nice to have this option of a more compressed festival. Definitely not a lineup i’m crazy about, but those top couple lines each day are bound to be fun.
