After watching the Coachella livestreams I hope Dave and Girl in Red dont fall off BCs radar after being dropped from 2020. Also pretty hyped for the energy I expect RTJ to bring to a set closing red stage rather than the mid afternoon bullshit Coachella stuck them with.

honestly ended up missing all 3, that rtj placement was awful and it was the hottest day of the fest so i went for orville peck instead. would love for BC to book electronic acts again, Fred again.. closing arena would be a godsend

BC is in a weird spot when it comes to electronic acts, I feel like they just get their token act each year and call it a day although I know people were happy with the way the Arena trended in 2019. That Fred Again... set was something else, I just feel like we would be more likely to get the Emo Nite type act! Also, speaking of acts I hope they dont forget about, get RJD2 back in the lineup!
So, Governors Ball dropped it's food vendor lineup today, despite being two weeks later than Boston Calling.
I don't know many of the vendors, not having been to NYC since '95, but it was nice to see a few things we haven't seen at Boston Calling...like multiple ice cream vendors selling ice cream made with real milk and cream (It's great that Boston Calling has FOMO each year for vegans and the lactose-intolerant, but having dairy-free frozen desserts at BC without any actual ice cream would be like going to a coffee place and finding only almond milk and soy milk, but no actual milk, cream or half & half.) New England is arguably the country's greatest region for ice cream, and it's a shame that they've only been offering the non-dairy dessert options. (The now-defunct Vice Cream was there for a year, but they weren't scooping/selling ice cream, it was more of a display booth and they'd occasionally give away free pints, but you couldn't just go there and buy ice cream.)
They also have multiple donut shops at Gov Ball. I'd love to see Kane's, Union Square Donuts, Lionheart Confections, and/or M***hole Donuts at BC.
There never seem to be enough pizza options at Boston Calling. It would be great to have a couple of slice-focused pizza sellers at Boston Calling; there are plenty of decent places in the Boston area where you can buy slices, which really seems like perfect stand-and-eat festival food.
I definitely want either the food lineup or schedule to drop this week.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but the food lineup rollout festivals do now is so dumb in my opinion. Unless you're Bottlerock and have a whole part of the fest devoted to it, I'm just going to whoever has the shortest line unless Gouda Boys are there.
he/they '12 - Firefly '13 - Firefly, Made In America '14 - Firefly, Made In America '15 - Mountain Jam (Sunday), Firefly, Pitchfork, Made In America '16 - Boston Calling, Firefly, Osheaga, Made In America, Roots Picnic NYC '17 - Boston Calling, Gov Ball, Firefly (Sunday), Pitchfork, Day For Night '18 - Boston Calling, Mountain Jam, Osheaga '19 - Form, Firefly (Sunday) '22 - Boston Calling, Firefly '24 - Solid Sound, Soundside
Not only is this not an improvement over past years, it's a major step down. It feels like there are fewer food vendors and less variety over all. Flatbread Pizza is just about the worst pizza I've tried in the Boston area (They use what seems like a low-fat pepperoni which doesn't get greasy at all, and grease is half the fun of pepperoni pizza), and despite New England's status as the home of more great ice cream parlors and manufacturers than any other region of the country, all they can offer is a non-dairy frozen dessert stand?
Sure, there are a lot of good options within a 5-8 minute walk from the gates in Harvard Square, and a Trader Joe's five minutes by foot in the other direction, but who wants to have to leave the grounds just to get something to eat?

as a vegetarian i am pretty pleased about our options but arancini bros is a massive miss. that sucks so much. also, would have liked to see more places like beatnic, taco party, or veggie galaxy as vendors

1000% agree. Nobody goes to this thing for the food, it shouldn't be some sort of grand announcement. Seems ridiculously over the top.
...that being said, I am bummed that Arancini Bros aren't coming (for the first year maybe ever?) because they were the absolute best, and more importantly it was something you couldn't get in/around Boston outside of the festival.
Yeah it would make more sense if they were nabbing more food vendors from outside the Boston area, but realistically it’s one little nugget of information that just gets me more excited for the weekend.
Mr Tuna is out of Portland, would love to see some more stuff from that area show up in the coming years.
i think flatbread, el pelon, chubby chickpea and roxys will be my go tos. falafel would be such a perfect festival food, didnt even know they were a past vendor
OK, just got some intel. Top Shelf Cookies will be doing ice cream sandwiches at Boston Calling, and they always partner with high-end super premium ice cream makers, so there's that.
Also, checked out their site and their cookies look incredible. They will have six different varieties at BC.

So if you assume the original plan for 2022 was Foo Friday, Rage Sat and The Strokes Sun, all of the days have a different headliner than originally planned. You think BC will try to fiddle with the schedule to make “common sense” changes from their original plan? Do they flip some of the late afternoon/early evening acts between the blue and the Red/green?
I guess Sat is the only day I’d wonder about, Friday there’s no real adjustment to be made and Sunday seems pretty fine too (Assuming GA close the Blue). Would they ask Earthgang > RTJ to close the Blue? Have King Gizz, Black Pumas, Orville Peck on the Green/Red leading into The Strokes?
I wonder if they are punting on the craft beer scene with only Miller and Sam’s listed under the beverage options.
I'd much rather see Harpoon/UFO than Sam Adams as the local brew. UFO always has a lot of interesting seasonal fruit wheats and IPAs. I've got to pick up their Splashdown summer mix pack soon.

What you're suggesting for Saturday makes perfect sense, but didn't someone else here note that the second listed act for each day is always the Red Stage closer?
Personally, I'd really like to see Orville Peck -> Black Pumas on Blue. The Blue stage vibe is perfect, especially as the setting sun works its magic upon Harvard Stadium, looking like something out of ancient Rome in that light. (I had been interested in seeing King Gizzard, until I checked out some of their music online. The only song I liked was the one sung by the keyboard player. I might as well catch some of RTJ on Red while I'm waiting for The Strokes.)

I don’t think it’s been the case every time, could be wrong though

Yeah so every instance since 2017, the second name on the day has closed the Red, with the Blue closer being #3-5 with it trending more to 3. I’ve been kinda assuming King Gizz would close the Blue just because I think Black Pumas fit better between RTJ and Earthgang, but that’s just a feel on my part. And again why I was kinda posing the question, would the headliner jumble cause them to buck their trend for the #2 closing the red

I think it would be nice if RTJ subbed green for the strokes and Gizz closed Red, sort of like how they closed outdoor at coachella

RTJ already got dicked over with their slot at Coachella, don’t put that bad juju on them!

Then again, Black Pumas tend to play a lot of the Americana/Roots festivals and are thought of more as old school R&B meets rock, as opposed to hip hop, which would make an Orville Peck -> Black Pumas late afternoon on Blue a great fit. Similarly, an Earthgang into RTJ transition on Green/Red works perfectly, too. (This all reminds me of the year at Gov Ball where The Strokes were literally the only rock artist in the lineup all day, with pop and rap leading up to them all day long on every stage, if I recall the poster correctly.)
