I mean I’m up to see if Rage can happen, possible month long hiatus at the end of their tour though assuming they do Coachella, unless they sneak Shaky in there.
It will be interesting to see if Kendrick announces a tour with the new album tomorrow.
Kendrick cycles operate so differently than most others, i wouldn't expect anything tomorrow besides the album drop. (That being said, i also wouldn't be shocked if he announced a tour.) Based on no actual info, I feel like he's lined up to headline Coachella, which could roll nicely into a few festival headline slots like BC. Would love for that to happen.
Not necessarily disqualifying from BC 23, but not sure if he'll be doing anything in 23 either.
The Killers played in January 2018 and headlined Boston Calling in May. If a Garden show is a fairly quick sellout, I don't see that as preventing an act from playing Boston Calling within a year. There were only around a hundred or fewer tickets left for The Killers when the BC lineup dropped and I'm sure that ticket sales had been brisk from the start, which suggested to Boston Calling that The Killers might be a doable booking, even despite the proximity to their Garden show.
Right now, Kendrick Lamar has both massive popularity and immense critical acclaim, and is an absolute win for any multi-genre festival that books him to headline.
I wouldn't rule out any 2022 Garden headliner for BC 23, except for Roxy Music, who appear to have sold so few tickets that they could move the show to the waterfront pavilion and fit everyone who's already bought tickets.
Are these people who picked up passes primarily due to 2020 or 2022 headliners who dropped off the poster for one reason or another?
By now, it's clear what Boston Calling is -- a second tier multi-genre festival with a little bit of a lot of different things, but not a lot of any one thing. You may not know who's on the poster when you buy passes, but you have a fairly good idea of what to expect. If that's not something which appeals to you, why not hold off until individual day lineups are announced and buy passes for that one headliner you like (assuming that they'll still be on the poster by festival weekend)?

I'm guessing a lot of ppl bought tickets to see RATM. It's also been 2+ years since ppl got these tickets and schedules change. Hell I can't go to Riot fest for similar reasons.
When you click on the link in their tweet, it's made clear that you don't have to register your wristband or connect it to a credit/debit/gift card, but cash will not be accepted on the grounds and you'll need to use a credit/debit/gift card for any purchases if you haven't connected a card to your wristband.
FWIW, EARTHGANG is opening for Gorillaz at TD Garden in October. That's likely the first announced date by a Boston Calling performer taking place after the event.

I think it’s 70% people who bought early in 2021 off of the Foo/Rage announcement and 20% people who carried over from 2020 with their fingers crossed. That pairing is a big time ticket mover, I don’t think secondary would be nearly as bad if they didn’t announce anyone till Jan like usual. Have a fall time blind buy for the folks that know BC is already on their to do list. Loosing Foo would have caused a dip but I don’t think it would have been this bad.

I always buy a prepaid gift card and use that so my bank doesn’t freak out when I’m using my card 20 times a day.
The FAQ is contradictory: “CamelBak-style water bladder systems are allowed empty into the Event Site, however the water bladders themselves must be capable of being removed from the carrier and must be transparent enough to allow security to visually inspect the empty bladder” Vs. “no backpacks are allowed inside the festival.”
Also, I’d have to assume that the blue/default tubing and bladder for a camelbak passes muster?
This isn’t entirely academic. I had my camelbak confiscated when I last attended in 2019 (I think, Tame headlined).
FWIW, the Weather.com forecast through Memorial Day weekend has literally been changing every day. Given that we're still 10 days out, for once I'm neither complaining about nor celebrating anything I see there. Not until next Tuesday, anyway.
Wow, I suppose that the probably-not-unwritten rule about not announcing your post-festival show in a city until after you've played the festival doesn't apply if you're halfway down the poster.
I don't know why artist and promoter didn't just wait two weeks so that the show announcement would be dropping in social feeds right after people saw her at Boston Calling.
Fun lil BC app notification this morning saying “Welcome to XYZ”. Think it’s just an innocent app testing mistake or think there a chance of a late add?

shes probably one of my least favorite acts on the lineup. i dont get why shes being pushed so hard

yeah what the hell was that?! i assume it's just testing mistake but it's weird that they'd schedule something (especially a test notification) to push at like 2am

This far out, the models aren't exactly reliable - especially if some storm system may pass through around that time.
Though some have been hitting hard on 90+ temps this weekend for a few days now

I'm just really thankful that this weekend's heatwave isn't hitting a week later. Highs in the upper 90's are not my idea of perfect festival weather.
I'm kind of impressed the models were picking this out 4-5 days ago
I'm also thankful this heat wave is now and not BC weekend. I remember Vibes 2011 where it cracked 100 every day - and that shit was awful. I saw maybe 5-6 sets the whole weekend.
I can't recall an edition of Boston Calling where the weather wasn't really bad for at least one day, whether excessive heat, cold, or heavy rain was the issue du jour.
Back in the days when BC sent three separate wristbands for each day, I sold my Saturday wristband for Fall 2014, due to the forecast, for a daily lineup that's only gotten more impressive with time. That turned out to be the day when they moved the crowd to a parking garage due to the storm.
I left after seeing a couple of acts on Saturday in 2016 because it was so hot. I walked out at some point during Børns set, after having seen Lizzo, Palehound, Battles, and Nemes. (That was my least favorite lineup in BC history and I ended up not even going at all on Friday and Sunday).
I walked out on Sigur Ros a few songs into their set in 2017 when the rain hit, and did the same towards the end of Fleet Foxes' set the next year, even though I had wanted to see Eminem.
I (probably like a lot of you) just received an e-mail with info about this year's sponsor installations and promotions, and with the number of additional lounge and viewing areas for VIP passes, I may have to start doing VIP only beginning next year, for the increased access to covered and seated areas. The increased cost comes with the increased benefit of having open air, yet covered viewing areas.
so, something im just realizing is that, with the huge post pandemic wave of pickpocketing and low ticket price for this. these fuckers are going to be rampant all weekend. highly would reccommend keeping your phones and wallets in a fanny pack across your chest to avoid this. also call them out immediately, theres a lot of power in a crowd
