I should preface this with heat is my natural enemy, but I'm loving the weather forecast. I'm still waiting for it to change to pouring rain during Nine Inch Nails, but hopefully I'm past that jinx.

i've refreshed weather.com's 10-day like 3 times today and the weekend forecast has changed every time, so it's wayyy too soon to tell. that being said, at the moment it's looking like the temps will be perfect (low to mid 70s) but the precipitation will not be perfect (25-45% chance of rain each day as of now)

so happy about the temps. honestly if it mists/ lightly showers i wouldnt really mind it. just hope its not too heavy so it doesnt get muddy
so, something im just realizing is that, with the huge post pandemic wave of pickpocketing and low ticket price for this. these fuckers are going to be rampant all weekend. highly would reccommend keeping your phones and wallets in a fanny pack across your chest to avoid this. also call them out immediately, theres a lot of power in a crowd
Your post scared me enough to run a couple of Google searches, and Boston's not coming up on any of the list of cities with rampant pickpockets.
Still, I've decided that I'm going to leave my phone at home and take anything particularly important out of my wallet before I go, bringing a VISA gift card with me for purchases. Sure, it would be fun to take a few photos and tweet from the event, but I use my phone for two-factor authentication for some work-related solutions, so I may be better off not bringing it.

I did the same, and the latest (which will undoubtedly change) is that Saturday afternoon and evening are the only likely times for rain -- mostly showers, but scattered thunderstorms may occur is some locations.
Of course, Boston Calling is still relying upon a daily newspaper for their weather forecast, so they're not necessarily working from the most up-to-date information:

this seems like an extreme overreaction. just don't be careless with your stuff and you'll be totally fine. basically the only rule is to keep your phone/wallet in your front pockets instead of back

I still think fanny pack is the move. my phone was taken from my front pocket which was p loose.

Oh, I always do keep them in front. I hate the feeling of sitting on anything of substantial size in my back pocket. (Still, at the very least, I might leave my credit/debit cards at home, taking only the gift card with me.)
Thanks for the advice. (Actually, these days it's a relief to have something to worry about other than COVID.)

So I'm not from Boston, but I've been so many times and this is the first time I'm hearing of this being an issue , interesting. I will say pickpocketing is an issue at almost any festival just be aware of your surroundings. I have a shoulder bag I'm using because their bag policy is all over the place.

Going by the venue right now and the green and red look almost parallel to each other now, still not directly next to each other but in the past they weren’t ever facing the exact same direction, right?

I've gone every single year with a group of 8-12 friends and never had any issues or heard of anyone else having any. I'm sure it happens to a small extent (really everywhere, not just here) but i don't think it's a major issue at all

I think the Red was like a 30-40deg angle off the Green in 2019, but I wonder if they flattened it out more to make more “space” in the field. Might also be part of the reason they moved the Ferris Wheel

I would be so happy if they shifted the red stage. As I have said before the old red setup sucked. The entire left side was VIP so you either weren't close or you were crammed in on the right for the more popular acts.

Looks like there’s a video of the grounds up on their Instagram, looks pretty similar to the way I remember it. The 2 story VIP bar to the right of the green looks pretty legit though, I’d be curious to see how crowded it gets

Weather pending, I think I'm going to the Sox-O's game at Fenway on Sat 12PM. I only really have interest in Gizz and the Strokes, and being a Baltimore natives it's just too convenient an opportunity to see Fenway while the O's are there. Any suggestions related (be it Fenway related or travel)?

If you're going straight from the game to Boston Calling, take the Green Line B branch outbound to the Harvard Ave. stop, cross to the opposite side of Commonwealth Ave and wait at the bus stop on Harvard Ave for a 66 bus (be sure that you're heading to Harvard Sq.) Then, when you see Harvard Stadium, get off at the next stop.
Or...after leaving the game, take any Green Line branch inbound to Park St. and switch to the Red Line, heading to Alewife. Get off at Harvard Sq and follow everyone who's walking to the grounds.

went by it again and noticed this time that the red stage is definitely downsized, it was clearly smaller than green

Red was always a decent bit smaller than the Green, like 75% if I had to shoot from the hip. The Green really had a glow up from 2017 to 2019
