Yeah i really loved it. Had a few qualms but they could mainly be blamed on my own over-theorization. really felt like they were teasing this season ending up with either Homelander or Stormfront snapping, and causing some major destruction in NYC (the shot a few episodes ago of them standing over the destroyed city film set seemed like foreshadowing, as did Homelanders fantasizing about lasering a crowd of people), that would then mark the end of vaught and the 7 being seen as superheroes. so when i realized the finale was gonna be taking place in the woods i was kinda bummed, but again, that was just my fault for overtheorizing. my only other qualm was that it really seemed like Billy was gonna take Ryan and be forced to raise him after Becca died, which i thought was really smart, and then he just gave ryan to Grace and the CIA. ultimately it probably makes more sense as he trusts her to find him a real mother that can raise him the same way becca had been, and Billy is still terrified of passing down the demons his father passed to him, but regardless i do really hope Billy does become a real father figure to Ryan in S3. Other than those little nitpicks, fantastic fucking episode. edge of your seat the whole time, everyone smiling at Billy and Becca in the beginning was so cute, the scene with Homelander actually being a caring father to Ryan was great, and that Nazi Bitch getting stomped tf out by Kimiko Maeve and Annie was just....*chefs kiss*. Becca dying was sad as hell, especially knowing Ryan is going to blame himself even though it really wasnt his fault. That whole scene just hit hard as hell.
And that ending bit......holy fuck. so perfect. the best murder mysteries are always the ones where the answer to the reveal is unexpected, but you realize you could / should have figured it out, and thats exactly what they did with the senator. sooo interested to see where it goes from S3 forward. really one of the best shows on TV.
i've gotta imagine that she's working with Stan Edgar. The attack on the hearing saved Vought's asses, while creating what should be their new oversight division over supes within the white house. but wtf do you know it's already being secretly controlled by Vought before its even been actualized. such a genius plan tbh.

and right before the church of the collective guy got popped, he was saying how he has the dirt to do what they did to Stormfront to a bunch of other Supes. so she and Stan are basically just playing Palpatine, owning both sides of the war so you can never really lose. wouldn't be surprised if they had some Order 66 equivalent up their sleeves as well.
CIA deputy director Susan Raynor got popped first, right after verbally realizing that Vought was responsible for the Super terrorists. Then Jonah Vogelbaum, one of the scientists who raised Homelander and could testify to a lot of the awful behind the scenes experiments Vought has ran, right before he did testify. Those are the two biggest ones that really implicate her as being on the side of Vought.
I dont see this as an Emmy show or anything, but good god give Antony Starr something. Seriously the best villain in anything since how long ?
I think we'll see some emmy noms for this season. It's a hit for amazon and generally a popular show. Anecdotal, it's been a while since there has been a season of television that all my friends are watching as it airs. Monocultural moments like this are getting rarer, so I bet amazon will court it for emmys.

pretty much agree with all of this. i do turn my brain off a bit when watching this show and just allow myself to be entertained, simply because there are definitely some hollywood-y moments throughout. particularly when a supe clearly has an opportunity to kill one of or all of The Boys and instead just pushes them out of the way in classic hollywood villain fashion.
the "girls get it done" fight was incredible, easily my favorite action moment of the season. when maeve showed up i let out an audible "fuck yeah". i think maeve is my favorite character in the show.
about five minutes into the episode it dawned on me that Stormfront was going to get really fucked up this episode. her lying there mumbling in german in the monty python black knight "tis but a scratch" style was soooo satisfying. she isn't technically dead so i wonder what we have in store for stormfront next season?
becca dying was super sad but it gave as an emotional moment in a show which otherwise doesn't have a strong "heart".
my favorite moment in the episode was homelander's subtle facial reaction to Stormfront's "white genocide" explanation to Ryan. made me genuinely laugh and clap and was nice to see the tiniest bit of humanity come out of Homelander. like he's a monster but even he is like "yeah that's some racist bullshit" lol.
hated seeing the head of the church go down like that because i love that actor, but it was a shocking ending to a great finale.
and finally while i picked at the show a bit for some unrealistic moments, Maeve's blackmailing of Homelander to leave everyone alone with that plane video completely works for me. nice job by the writers wrapping up multiple conflicts at once.
generally a story device i love is when characters who were previously at odds come together to defeat a common enemy in a way that serves their own interests. so a-train, the church, and maeve all doing their part to help The Boys defeat Stormfront and her white power agenda was great.
really excited for what they come up with next season. they've spun a hell of a yarn and developed some great characters.
"It was beautiful. How we sat there under the shadow of the apple trees. Do you remember that day, Frederick? Chloe put her arm outside of the car's window. We found a perfect spot next to the river under the shadow of the apple trees. It was the first time that Chloe had eaten (ate) a fresh apple. I was so happy, it was wonderful. I wished that it would never end."

Just watched the pilot, it's pretty cool so far. Grimdark superhero stuff is pretty saturated at this point, but the acting is solid and having the hyper-capitalist marketing machine behind the superheros is a really fun angle. Sounds like I have a lot to look forward to!

Appreciate the spoiler tag usage haha
One thing the show does well is that, whereas there is that very cynical edge to the show with that hypercapitalism, there is always a strong sense of humor to the show. Several of the actors on the show have great comedy timing and expressions. Also, the show has so much parody of existing superheroes that is honestly what we need a little bit of after the last decade or so of superhero movies.
Jensen Ackles (Supernatural) has signed on to play Soldier Boy, leader of a team called Payback. That's the depth I read the article because I have never read the comics, but the name makes me assume he will be our Captain America parody.

a really incredible archetypical comic villain. sort of get vibes of Luther + Superman. kind of superman by day, lex by night attitude. I think the lex vibe really carries over into his views on his upbringing/his son. especially with storefront and the white genocide comment, small impactful layer where just a smirk conveys an entire inner monologue about how "I don't like this, and it's stupid, but this is best for me right now so I'll play along". touching on what Pepe was saying they really threaded the needle in keeping him just hinged enough when everyone is expecting this explosion of anger. Starr is an excellent casting choice and may be the most perfect person for that role.
but I still think I'm going to give deep like 3 of the top 5 laughs of the show, on top of being written with a lot more layers than some of the characters

Even though I already saw part of it in the trailer I still lost it when they drive the bought into the whale. Like, he gets set up to block them and looks all majestic and heroic and then realizes they aren't slowing down. So good.
Also loved when he was interviewing candidates for his wife.
