Both have dead members. Neither released new music or toured after said members died. Both are definitely not going to do anything ever again if imagine
That's not the rule. The rule is no activity after 2009 for a band. Only a solo artist become eligible immediately upon death. There are plenty of acts that kept going after their most pivotal member died. INXS toured with a new lead singer. Blind Melon, too. (To site two that came up in my searches.)
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

Yeah but they toured as inxs and blind melon as blind melon. The Allmans and rush never toured under either name unless I’m mistaken. Yeah I kinda feel like they should be taken to poll

Honestly, I'm mostly just annoyed that people were up in arms about Pink Floyd and R.E.M. who were way more inactive than several acts who have been picked thus far. We both dropped them because the rules are clear on it, even if they are imperfect.

Right, because the deaths happened within the last decade. Neither Blind Melon or INXS just up and toured a year later. It took time for them to get around to it.

REM is way more ineligible than any of the other three

Ok but like we don’t really have any reason to believe rush or the allmans will do that. Plus unlike Floyd or rem either the most important member or like all the members who matter are dead with rush or the allmans

Rush is Neil, Alex and Geddy. I know that wasn’t the original lineup but that’s Rush. They would never tour without Neil and to me, it’s basically the same as Prince being dead. If an essential part is dead, the band is dead.

The rule that makes both REM and Pink Floyd ineligible, though a rule I don't like, is cut and dry. They put out albums in the '10s so they're ineligible. Allman Bros have have had multiple key deaths since the last time they tour 6 years ago. They're not getting back together and this should count the same as a solo artist dying.
I don't know about Rush because gocatsnu said something about them playing a show after Neil's death.

I understand your point. My point is that we've got rules. We had a week to fine tune the rules and never agreed on anything. Now the interpretation of the rule is, essentially, 'somebody died - trust me, they're done.'

Hey man nobody agreed on anything and that sucks that the rules are unclear but these are some zombie assed picks

The rule as stated in the first paragraph is cut and dry, too.
any artist that is deceased as of the first pick of the draft is eligible. In addition, any act that has been inactive* since before 01/01/10 is eligible.
There is no rule about what happens if one band member dies because there are so many different ways that's played out. The rule is a deceased artist or an inactive act.

Might be too late but I’m the future, I’d like to see the rule be whether a certain member is so essential, that the band itself is done. I think most stuff could actually be hashed out without a poll. Not sure anyone would argue against Rush or Allmans if it was the case.

So since there's no rule then it's up for interpretation. Unless we want to pass a prop to address this then I think we should take it case by case and poll them if there's a dispute
So if someone wants to let me know which pick is good now and which needs to go to poll
I don't know if I'm going to call for a poll. I'm cranky right now and want to sleep on it. A poll wouldn't go up until morning anyways.
So I’m in limbo here on my picks and no know weather one is good or neither and need to wait until morning cause you’re cranky? I mean this in the nicest way possible because I’ve played a lot of drafts with you and I seriously appreciate all the hard work you do but come on man. I need some direction here
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

For
like I said, it’s too late imo. Could say Rick was essential to Floyd

R.E.M.'s last show was 11/18/08, last album release 3/7/11 Pink Floyd's last show was 7/2/05, last album release 11/7/14 Allman Bros Band's last show 10/28/14, last album release 3/18/03 Rush's last show 8/1/15, last album release 6/12/12

I was saying that there is no rule making an exception for a dead band member. There is a rule for a band and it's based on activity - live performances and/or newly recorded material.

no one in REM died and I agree with Floyd being ineligible but that’s more like a “Pink Floyd” album. I was going to draft REM with my second pick then i realized they were definitely out with the rules. I have no opinion on allmans or rush. I think trantsgiving essential member dying thing doesn’t really make sense because “essential member” is subjective.
