The issue with the Beasties is that they completed a long in the works album after the cutoff. It's unclear what happened - if anything - post 2009. What we do know is that they stopped performing in 2009 and there has been new activity since he died. They were off my board because I didn't feel like they were eligible but nobody challenged it.
In this case, both acts were active until about five years ago. It's not about whether they will become active in the future but whether they were active after the cutoff and they clearly were. In the early discussion of this draft I floated the idea of moving the cutoff date to the end of 2014 to allow more acts to be eligible and there wasn't really any enthusiasm for it. To come back now and say that five years of inactivity is fine when we signed on for ten is what is frustrating to me. If we want to change the rules to something that makes more sense to the group then I'm fine with that. But to just arbitrarily ignore them is wrong, IMO.
See I didn’t ask for the date pushback and I’d imagine other people didn’t as well because I took that as a band that has simply broken up but all members were still alive. We’re talking about bands here that have had not only members die but integral parts or the literal founding members and namesakes die and are clearly done for good. To me the death of those members is the exact point of this game
Then we need a rule specific to acts that have had band members die. Which is fine. But it doesn't exist now.
I agree for sure but if The Doors aren’t eligible then The Allman Bros probably aren’t either. Don’t know if you all decided that The Doors are actually eligible
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
