At least with Floyd two of the essential members have blood pumping through their veins and are ripping through huge Pink Floyd setlists once every three years in major venues.
Fwiw, the doors put out Other Voices after Jim died. I wouldn’t mind them being an exception because clearly they are not an active band but they do technically not qualify

They released like three albums after Morrison died, but it doesn't matter - the cut off date is 12/31/2009. They released those albums in the late 70s so there's no controversy.
I'd like to take the Beastie Boys, and I believe their inactivity on both the touring and music release front since Adam Yauchs death in 2012 should make them eligible.

If you are drafting something questionable, just plan to have it sent to a poll while risking missing out on stuff while its being polled. I'm trying to think of an airtight rule, but I think we are going to have to use a lot of polling no matter what.
