I agree on the year end lists coming out too soon. We actually do ours in January, which is probably too late, but we're a monthly publication and we're not about to release a list before The Avalanches album drops. Also if anyone would like to contribute, just lemme know. Dave Maynar usually takes part. By the way, you in this year, Dave?
I haven't listened to enough album this year to make an honest list. You'd think quarantine year would be the time to really hit up all the music as it comes out, but here I am.
Don’t think it’s been announced on social media yet so I don’t have a text list. “WAP” #1, followed by “People, I’ve been sad” and “I Want You to Love Me”.
I'm unsure how much reviews I'm gonna write (I've the new Kali Uchis still on my hands) but a benefit this year was def the fact that I've written the most reviews in one one year of my 3 years being a writer for our music blog by a landslide. (So far 34 reviews done, last year I had 22 and the year before that 19). And the fact that I was pretty burned out of music from april till june, makes it even better.. I guess.

Same here to be honest. I've got a lot of work to do this month. I don't even know what I did this whole year to be honest.

I always like these lists for finding a few cool things that slipped by me through the year.
Also, really surprised they didn't go with Shameika as one of the Fiona songs to highlight.

My favorites thus far are Sault (Black Is), Haim, Spillage Village, RTJ, Janktape Vol. 1 (buddy) and Mondo Cozmo. That's pretty much all hip hop and R&B cept Mondo.
I like Roison Murphy a lot. Same with Ólafur Arnalds. Discovered both of them via this board and need to listen to them more.
I discovered Siti Muharam, Chloe x Halle, Victoria Monet, Lianne La Havas, Lido Pimienta and Buscabulla from the NPR list.
So what have I missed that are in a similar vein to these? What's the best indie rock this year? I'm short on that this year.
I can affirmatively say that this is the year of the lady. Almost all of the stuff I like is made by women. I dig it.

It's been the year of the lady for like the last 8 years.

Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
People are so much higher on Eternal Atake than I am, I thought it was pretty underwhelming.
Edit: I'm glad to see Kelly Lee Owens getting some love too.
Kelly Lee Owens is dope.
I feel similar about Eternal Atake. Lil Uzi Vert released like 60 songs this year. At some point, they all run together. If you play me one, I'll say "yes, this sounds good." Then after a dozen, I'm underwhelmed.
