I don’t think you can really say someone is cancelled if their career is literally not affected at all
Is Bill Clinton cancelled for Epstein island?
no he’s still very much in the public eye, attending events. We can form opinions on people and that’s separate from them being canceled. Some people just don’t get the treatment they deserve (Bowie on this board lol).
.“The internet is such a stupid-a*s mess right now. Everybody’s so sensitive. A grown man can’t be a fan of an artist? There are so many people that the internet should be more worried about. Like, you’re really going to say that Drake is creepy because he’s a fan of mine, and then you’re going to go vote for Trump? What the f*ck is that sh*t?” Eilish declared.
yeah to be fair I hadn't really heard about the Billie thing before doing a quick Google--I was thinking back to that video of him groping the teenager and some other reports of similar behaviors being a pattern w him.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
canceled means that they’re shunned from the public eye. Drake hasn’t really faced that.
hmmm ok so that isn't really what it has meant in prior drafts tho?
people have at times picked an act that had said/done a shitty thing but not to the level of like full on rape/assault and we called it "they're cancelled" even though they were still performing and selling records just fine.

I don’t know if the Billie or MBB stuff is bad. Billie is an artist and they can relate on those terms. Drake was a child actor and can likely have something in common with MBB. The main issue I take with grown men talking with underage / young girls is that they have no reason to talk to them except for exploitive reasons. Not to say that Drake is innocent, he very well could be grooming these girls. I just don’t think that stuff is cut and dry.
Now the “kissing a 17 year old” thing is certainly an eye brow raiser

there are still plenty of valid examples of non canceled artists who shouldn’t be picked. I also think this board has an issue of consistency on the topic. Again, David Bowie is ok but MJ isn’t.

also two things can be bad without being equally bad

the MJ stuff is the most interesting one to me about how people take it because he has beaten the allegations in court three times, but everyone thinks he did it

sure but if those accusations came out now against a smaller artist, it would be an obvious “don’t draft this person”. This board gives exceptions to people they like
Fwiw, I only thought to raise this re: Drake because I could’ve sworn it came up in a prior draft & that general consensus was he is cancelled round these parts, even if not among most mainstream America.
But I must’ve been misremembering since it seems most folks disagree w me here

The only repercussions for drafting a "canceled" act were that people might not vote for your lineup. Nobody had to get rid of anybody if they didn't want to. (Hell, Michael Jackson still seems to get drafted regularly.)
When it would come up in previous drafts it was almost always a matter of the drafter not knowing some shitty stuff an act had done before they created them.
We let people do them but it wasn't (always) a reflection of their commercial viability. Just a possible reflection of the perspective of the drafter.

MJ gets picked every infinity though
someone will cave and it’s usually met with groans. Even slack traded him last time

what percentage of rapes end in a conviction?
Especially when pitting a billionaire against the word of a child.

Mhmm. In the US judicial system, no less, which is obviously flawless with respect to how wealthy the parties happen to be.
The Katt Williams (also cancelled lol) bit on this basically closes the door on MJ, as far as I'm concerned:
"I like [women], so at my house I've got stuff [women] like. I've got silk pillows. Those aren't for me, those are for [women]. Michael Jackson has a damn amusement park in his backyard."
If that doesn't do it for anyone, watch Leaving Neverland.
