HM: Magdalena Bay & Remi Wolf. I've absolutely loved Magdalena Bay, but the hype on that will settle far sooner for me than this Ross From Friends album; I'll come back to this way more as time goes on.
Still trying to figure out this Parquet Courts album.
HM: Magdalena Bay, uniiqu3, HYD, aya, tirzah, eris drew, remi wolf, this feels like the first good music month in a long time, still a bunch of stuff i haven't had time for
Parcel’s new album is a strong front runner for November already. I was expecting some fun Phoenix-esque disco pop, not a goddamn funk-soul odyssey with gorgeously produced string arraignments

If you like Hot Chip, you should check out HARD FEELINGS. It's a side project from members of Hot Chip and, unsurprisingly, it sounds like Hot Chip (just with different lead vocals)
Late October Vote! Gah this was a strong month, and my numbers 2-4 HMs were very close runner-ups; tbh probably would've gone Magdalena Bay if it hadn't already gotten so much [deserved] recognition. It was nearly a toss-up between that and Jonsi though.
HMs: -Magdalena Bay -Hand Habits -Ross from Friends -Remi Wolf -James Blake -Namasenda -Lana
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

it's really really good and i'm kicking myself for only just having listened to it today for the first time1

Curious to see how folks on here react to the new Courtney Barnett. It is incredibly underwhelming for me. Completely lacks energy, and her fun and witty lyrics that are usually album highlights are gone.

Enjoying Silk Sonic more than I would've expected. Doesn't have an original bone in it's body, but you can tell they were having fun recording it and I found that infectious
Kinda bummed about it, but the new Adele is just not doing it for me. A couple of stand out tracks (really like Easy on Me and Hold On) but overall, it doesn't stand with her other albums as far as the production goes.

I was just coming here to say that, after the first listen, Adele crushed it. It's definitely got a different production vibe from her previous albums so I can see where you're coming from, but I was a fan.

I also was popping on here to say how much I love 30. I was fully prepared to not like it as I did not like 25 that much at all, and thought she would just make another album where she belts some high notes, and every hairdresser from Long Island and New Jersey will buy it and she'll win 76 Grammys. HOWEVER, I think 30 is brilliant and I really love the risks. When you look at the team of producers that worked on it, it makes sense that's it's so dynamic from a production point of view. I said this to a friend earlier today, but honestly the only thing I can think to compare it to is A Seat At The Table, but it deals with divorce and mental health instead of race (Solange please don't hate me for saying that).
My Little Love is especially devastating in all the best ways.

Stoked that today is the last real release date for the month. There’s like 1 record I’m excited for next week but I rarely ever vote for a live album. I might be caught up before voting starts.

Vocally she was excellent as usual, and the writing was good. I just didn't really like the more stripped down production style, although I'm sure that was her intent. It's probably my least favorite album of hers overall but mostly just because of the production.

A Seat At The Table seems like a good comparison. I got some Lemonade vibes too, though Lemonade has a lot more variety in sound than 30. I’ve listened through three times so far and its easily gonna be in my top 3 for AOTY, might even take the top spot. Which is a shock since I’ve really only heard her hits prior to this.
