Just kinda catching up on today's news, Wake Forest and Army BOTH hit the over by themselves on their game! Wake scored 70 with only 17 minutes of possession! That's insane, and I'm officially rooting for Wake to win the ACC now
Kinda wild that Army put up 56, considering they tend to run it 90% of the time
Goddamn. I expected Clemson to not be as good this year, but three losses and unranked at this point of the season was just not something I expected.
I won't be surprised if they finish 8-4 tbh. I look forward the idiots on the clemson message boards to start calling for Dabo to be fired.
That is 100% going to happen, and I feel bad for you that you're going to have to listen to it. It's well documented what I think of sang_xcx's opinions on college football, but I know even he's not that dumb to want to fire Dabo over one season.

Lousy crop but Wakes time of possession was only 17 minutes

Matt Wells took over a middling situation, his second year was mid-pandemic, his third year he was 5-3 when he was fired. Tough business. I don't know what it was like in Lubbock, and maybe there were reasons he was a bad fit, but this looks...interesting.
They should hire Jeff Traylor from UTSA and call it a day.
I can assure you that just about everyone in Lubbock is thrilled by this news.
Sure, but why?
While this is indeed Tech's first winning season with him at the reigns, there's been way too many blunders and fumbled bags along the way. Tech barely beat U of H (who we were predicted to steamroll), lost to Kansas State last week going into the second half with a pretty promising 24-10, and dare I bring up the UT game.
I think all this is to say that it's felt like all year Tech has only been a one half team. They'll do great for a half then completely fall apart for the other and everyone always points the finger back at Wells. I'm hoping Cumbie can at least make them a more consistent team for these last few games.
Also last year I won a Halloween Costume contest at the game that weekend and one of the prizes was a signed Matt Wells football and I never got that so I still hold that grudge too.

this sounds like one of the things Tennessee fans got really annoyed with during the Butch Jones/Jeremy Pruitt eras. We'd have some good games/parts of games, but it was obvious when the team just gave up on a game or couldn't close it out. that comes back to the coaching.

I think for any fan base to be compared to Tennessee's right now is...not great for that fan base. Which is kind of my point. Firing a coach in the middle of a season is crazy in most cases, when they are 5-3 it comes across even crazier. I can understand fans not liking a coach but administrators are supposed to be more restrained. Firing a guy who is 5-3 in October doesn't lend itself to other coaches wanting to take the job. Of course, someone will take it, maybe even the top candidate, but it hurts the school in the long run. All just my opinion.
it’s a fair opinion and i honestly expected this to happen at the end of the season.
word on the street is they’re going after UTSA’s coach once Cumbie is done this season. (Which, it still blows my mind that UTSA is undefeated.)
Jeff Traylor, it's exactly who they should hire. I don't think it will happen, but TTU should hope that Gary Patterson doesn't retire, because I think there would then be a bidding war for Traylor's services.

Mike Tomlin on USC HC rumors: "I don't have time for that speculation. That's a joke to me. I've got one of the best jobs in all of professional sport. Why would I have any interest in coaching college football? Never say never. But never. There's not a booster with a big enough blank check.”
Exactly what I expected him to say after I saw that tweet linking his name.

This doesn't accurately capture the tone either. He was PISSED. "Does Sean Payton ever get asked about college jobs? Does anyone ask Andy Reid about college jobs?" I think he's trying to hint at racism. Payton definitely has been asked about the Cowboys job before and it feels like a college job or two.
