- Fully realized concept that would be easy to market: American artists performing for a universally liked American cause. No perceived divisive agenda, and something for every demographic at home to enjoy - Huge reunions that would bring in tons of money and viewers (Creedence Clerwater Revival, N.W.A, R.E.M) - Every act except the day openers can play arenas or bigger on their own - First broadcasted Frank Ocean performance ever (I think) - My Chemical Romance sold 228,600 tickets in 6 hours when they announced their 2020 tour that was cancelled, don't forget - Dave Chappelle might be one of the most respected/liked people in the country right now IMO. At this point a Chappelle monologue is must-watch TV, a full set would do crazy numbers - First Fiona Apple performance after a hugely celebrated album - The Chicks and Sturgill Simpson bring in a huge country audience and they don't suck - All exclusive acts except Cardi B, which I think should count for something. Also Cardi B sold more tickets than Garth Brooks at the Houston Rodeo, just saying.
absolutely agree it should. If pretty much all the lineups that move forward to the next round are the ones with some combo of THS/Floyd/Radiohead/Zep, I think it'll show a considerable flaw in the structure (not saying this with any disrespect to the curator, Teddy!). I mean, we literally all could've easily snagged those in the first two rounds: they were available to all of us to take. A contingent of us worked hard to secure a unique top 3/4, and I do think that should count for something on those lineups *shrug*
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

I mean, the first criteria set up for this thing was commercial viability, including filling a stadium and getting a TV audience. I'm not sure if it's a flaw if your qualifiers are the ones with the biggest acts on their top line. That was the stated focus.

This isn't even a frustration stated because I happen to be one of the people who chose not to go the THs/Zep route--I don't care at all if I move forward, and as I drafted things I knew I might not due to the criteria.
It just makes it less interesting if pretty much all the same top lines move forward. If others don't agree, then I guess this is a hot take, but, it is just how I feel about it

I get what you're saying. It looks like the trick was to draft a lineup that was commercial, interesting, and unique. Which really should always be the case I guess.

only two lineups have TH/Zep and one is the control lol

yeah feels like this round could basically be completed based on indisputable facts outside of a few quandaries about just how big a particular reunion would be. Like if you don't vote for the Zep / Beatles one you are being mischievous. Because it would definitely be in the top 12 of selling.

I'm with you on the Zep part of that. I think that I'd push back on the Beatles part, though. That one's pretty much just Paul McCartney and friends. I like Jeff Lynne and ELO's got some great music but he's not George Harrison. And Sean Lennon is not the charismatic icon that his father was. Ringo's great but there's a reason that he plays theaters and not stadiums when he tours despite having an All-Starr band.

Paul already sells stadiums, it absolutely would be a hit.
plant is a midday festival act that plays theaters, his voice is shot, and I don't even know the last time page played
and clever work leaving out the Bonham of it all. considering a staple of their live show was him drumming endlessly while the rest of the band rested (when they were young!).

the Bonham thing is kinda NBD, theyve done a show with Bonham's kid and it sold out the O2 Stadium and resale was $1000 a ticket. the bigger issue is "are they good" which idk I think the answer is probably no.

Feel like the "dont make this real world serious" bit was lost on a few of these
i thought it was "don't make it controversial"
This is just one example of a theoretical charitable cause your telethon could raise awareness for. You are welcome to come up with your own cause, and get creative with it. All I'm asking is, don't make your cause real-world serious, this is supposed to be fun.

I'm not disagreeing with you about Macca. I just don't know if a Beatles "reunion" adds much musically.
As far as a Zep reunion, I didn't discuss that at all so I'm not sure why you're "clever work"ing me about it. Despite Plant's obvious vocal limitations, a million people entered a lottery for tickets to their last show in 2007. It would still sell out and draw viewers. Whether the quality is there is kind of irrelevant in this poll. Was Bonham a huge part of Zep's success? Absolutely. Did the band replace him with Jason Bonham and Phil Collins in the past? Absolutely. You can't say the same for The Beatles.
(Incidentally, Page has gigs on setlist going into 2014.)

really what made me go for it, as far as what the reunion does musically, is the setlist.
sure it's a bummer to lose a few Paul/Wing songs, but no new songs (yuck), plus a chance to revisit some of the songs he doesn't do because they're john's or george's or whatever.
Lynne and Sean aren't virtuosos or anything, but they're very familiar with the music, Lynne having produced all 4 members solo work, playing with George, that it should be seemless as far as stage chemistry.
I suspect that I would enjoy that one over the Zeppelin reunion. McCartney's Roo set is still my favorite of all time. I love Zeppelin but 2021 Plant is clearly not 1971 Plant.
My objection is really just to advertising it as The Beatles. I do see what you're trying to do setlist- wise, though.

If people saw the beatles on a bill it would get more attention that many of the lineups on its own. Its not Paul Mccartney and Friends. It says the beatles. Which we know would end up being likely underwhelming but the curiosity and intrigue would be off the charts leading up to it.
I don't want to sound like a hater because I love Watch the Throne and The Smiths as pure music, but 10 of yall really picked 2021 Morrissey and Kanye West to play a Charity show. I guess Marjorie Taylor Greene will be tuning in
