What do you think? Everything. We should have gotten to play in a super bowl literally like 3 years ago. I think next to the Chiefs, we have the second best record over the last several years. 2021 was an anomaly (Covid, injuries, etc.) and not a definitive look at whether we would just be doomed to become a .500 team without Brees. I think anyone with any football knowledge would agree.
I like the Saints but losing Brees and Payton is going to take a while to recover from. Being $70M+ over the cap and not having an answer at QB are definite hurdles. They may be able to win their division and get into the playoffs next season now that Brady is gone but I don't think that they're currently built to make a run.
There are challenges. We won the division 2020 with Brady in it and swept them this year, including a shutout. Let us have a healthy season - particularly the o line, QB depending on what we do, and have Thomas back, we will be fine. If you define success by winning, we’ve been on a run for several years. We got fucked by officiating so we didn’t win the NFC Championship game in January 2019 and lost a chance to play for the title. But winning a title with the majority of the same front office structure intact should be enough proof we aren’t just trying to be the regular season champs. You just build on that

2021 9-8 2020 12-4 2019 13-3 2018 13-3 2017 11-5
Hey, I hope you're right but everything before this year was with your HOF QB and Coach. 9-8 was really an impressive achievement for this season all things considered. I don't think that they're in a position to compete for the Super Bowl at the moment but that's why they play the games.

to Esteban's credit, the Packers if they trade Rodgers and lose Adams will take a step back, interested to see what the Bucs do because they're still built as a contender but they could see themselves in the same position as the Saints.
locks for playoffs
Rams Cowboys
probably in 9ers Cardinals
next up Bucs saints eagles vikings Seahawks
it's not unreasonable they get the 4/5 seed, but it is an uphill battle and in the end it just seems like the Rams will still be the team to beat

Yeah, I'm not saying that they're bad. But there's usually a pretty big difference between able to make the playoffs and contending for the Super Bowl. And without an elite QB it's a lot tougher.

someone like Jimmy G could feast w the saints buuuut they couldn't afford it if they tried, but like yeah they just need a guy and it seems highly unlikely they'll get one
17-20 are meaningless the brains of that operation are gone
No doubt Brees and Payton are critical to our 2006-2021 era. Mickey Loomis brought them to the team. He’s an elite GM. Plus we have good ownership that allows the football side to handle football shit and aren’t afraid to open the checkbook. I feel like most knowledgeable Saints fans are willing to trust management here as they’ve earned that much goodwill and more. It’s plausible we could have a mediocre or shitty adjustment year or two. But I really don’t see us falling off short of fucked up circumstances.

We’re not jumping off the page as an obvious super bowl contender or the team to beat. I feel like Winston can win big here if that’s the way we go. We need a starting QB and are going to have to pay for it in a variety of ways. Who knows if it’s him or Jimmy or one of the young guys who could be dangled? Jameis could just as easily sign back in Tampa. A lot of shit will go down in the NFCS this offseason.
idk Gayle Benson sucks, her dead husband sucked, and I don't see her opening the check book for Allen and Jameis
Tom was a dick but redeemed himself to the city after becoming PE1. Gayle rules. What did coach Payton say? Never had to ask twice for anything - constant upgrades to our elite facility, players, etc. We front the most cap in history. Mega deals and signing bonuses which you can’t always make work through the entirety of the contracts, but they lay out the cash for whatever they want limited only by later constraints. Best believe we will be under the cap, sign our draft picks, compete and win.
They'll take Kenny Pickett and be great for another twenty years.
OMG that would be the dream but it's not happening. And for Kenny's sake I hope he goes somewhere different. I used to want him to end up in New Orleans but not with Payton gone now.
youre next cowboy, Steelers have most of the pieces and a coach even but no QB
Steelers did pretty well from say 1984 (I don't know when Bradshaw retired without looking it up since I was 2-3 years old) to 2003 with some real schlubs at QB. But of course only made one Super Bowl in that time. And the game has changed enough that it's probably not the way to go this time. But I do think Rudolph can handle a transition year. We really, really need to upgrade the talent on the OL. Taking Creed Humphrey last year instead of Najee/Muth would have helped the running game a lot more (keeping Conner instead of letting him leave).
But also, the run D was just terrible without Alualu and Tuitt. Plus losing DBs, and not knowing whether Devin Bush will regain pre injury form...

Glad to have you. We meet again next year. We own the series at the moment 9-7 and 4-1 in the 21st century. I went to the 20-10 Halloween game back in 2010. Nothing but respect for a team with 6 titles as anyone aspires to have that level of success. I recall the early 70’s dog years when we both sucked the worst. But y’all came out of it and got the 4 Bradshaw titles.

I don't think Rudolph will ever be a good NFL QB. I'd rather they give Haskins a try over Rudolph. But ideally, they'll upgrade their QB situation... Rodgers would be dope.
I wonder if the 8 hour Bieniemy interview was because we're going to bring him back home to run the offense? Apparently Pete Carmichael is staying on staff but not as OC which he has been here since Coach Payton was hired. Maybe it's reporter speculation, I don't know.

It’s because you have to.
You don't think Pete could have handled it? He's been masterful for 16 years. He doesn't aspire to be a HC either. Hopefully he'll just be an assistant head coach and work with whatever our QB's will be.

I mean the Rooney rule.
Oh. Well it clearly wasn't a sham interview since he's from here and they spent 8 hours with him. I'd love for him to be Dennis' first hire, but I don't know if we can pry him away from the Chiefs for the same job. He'd have to be Assistant HC at least I think.
I'm wondering if Bieniemy wants out of KC so that he can prove that his success isn't reliant on Reid & Mahomes and might take a lateral move.
Sports talk radio was talking about that today. Something weird is going on with him not getting a head coach job yet. I think he definitely deserves to get a chance .
