the Texans drumming up phony sex assault claims to punish their own starting QB would be one of the biggest, dumbest, most insane criminal acts ever undertaken, but sure, makes a lot of sense if you think about it
Peterson isn’t really a great player anymore. He’s solid but he demanded a trade and very likely purposefully failed a PED test when they didn’t. Then tried to pretend like he always wanted to stay.
plus he's never gonna fully recover from this
he got absolutely smoked by Julio in a game I was at one time too
tell me what the rational reason there would be for the owner to torpedo the trade value of his star QB
the conspiracy theory is that he eliminates the market for Watson, forcing Watson to stay put
but even for a trash, dysfunctional organization like the Texans, that's some galaxy brainied idiocy
if anything Deshaun is way too valuable to where no one can afford him. I don't understand the theory that the Texans would do this, maybe some team like the Jets at least makes sense?

if the accusations are proven false, I think this draft is a unique opportunity for the Texans to make this trade and it still work out for them. It's pretty rare to have four QBs who are as highly regarded as Trevor/Fields/Wilson/Lance are in one draft, and both the Dolphins and Jets could provide the Texans the ability to draft their next franchise QB + 2 more firsts on top of that.

Not now. League will put him on the commissioner's list and all that other crap. This is worse than being sued.

I understand that it seems that way.
but so much about buzbee stinks on a local level, and it very much feels like we have evil people in charge of our organization, so I just have a hard time wrapping my head around it.
on some level he is a michael avenitti type, who was also a successful trial lawyer that got a felony for extortion, so I definitely would like to see how it all shakes out before I make any concrete judgment.
What seems more likely, that the Texans arranged to have nine women file fraudulent suits outlining a pattern of sexual harassment of masseuses for... reasons OR that a rich dude felt entitled to extracurricular treatment from a series of masseuses?

idk, again, if it was anyone other than buzbee I'm right there.
i could honestly see it being a bit of a and b, where maybe they've known longer than this. there's a lot of timing issue, though a lot of these things come to light because someone gets more spotlight than they intended.
I have only seen a couple headlines so grain of salt. But I saw that MNF has a potential to flex, and Amazon was going to get TNF. I’ll have to read up on it for sure.
Have to say this might sound a bit too cold, but if they went to Deshaun first and asked for 100-200k to make this all go away and he said no, he made a severe miscalculation

if that's the case that makes me feel better? he's worth way too much for that to be the case.
though I suppose woody also turned down a settlement from a celebrity lawyer lol 😬
just going to not jump to blasting him until it's over. if he's guilty than I have no problem cutting him
Not saying Buzbee is telling the truth but there's a lot of gray area between HPD saying they are unaware of contact and someone from HPD contacting him.
So apparently Buzbee is in contact with 22 women now? 12 current civil suits and 10 more are talking with him or something
22! I know these are civil suits but JFC
Something seems weird here.
It's entirely possible that Watson's a scumbag. If you told me there was like 2 or 3, it's entirely believable. But 20 plus? Is this guy hitting up every rub n' tug spot in Houston?

“HPD, for whatever reason, claims now they haven’t had contact with me regarding the Deshaun Watson situation,” Buzbee said on social media. “I guess, technically, they are correct. The truth is, a detective I know reached out to me. And I’ve made clear that when my clients are ready we will submit a package to the police. Competence HPD!”
Buzbee attaches a screenshot of his text chain with “Detective.”
this is the kind of shenanigans I expected, that people who aren't from here who say things on reddit like, "why would a successful trial lawyer put his career on the line", aren't expecting
*also that "Competence HPD!" is so from the trump playbook. undermine the institution you need to be working with a punchline.

This is an extract from the lawsuit, from a woman who was sexually harassed once but did massage him a second time (she didn't know it was Watson she would be massaging the second time until she entered the room):
"Plaintiff told Watson that his behavior the last time was inappropriate. Plaintiff recalls that Watson apologized and told her something to the effect that he had never been rejected by a woman before.
Plaintiff informed Watson that she was a lesbian, so she was not interested in him and Watson agreed not to be inappropriate again. Plaintiff proceeded to give Watson the massage. Watson told Plaintiff that he only wanted his lower body massaged, so Plaintiff started off massaging the back of Watson’s quads.
Watson insisted that he wanted Plaintiff to “go higher,” closer to his butt cheeks. Plaintiff went higher, but Watson was still not satisfied, and insisted that Plaintiff come even higher Plaintiff was confused and did not understand. Plaintiff assumed that Watson wanted his back massaged, so she proceeded to massage his back.
Watson then grabbed Plaintiff’s hands and placed them on his buttocks and moved them around in a circular motion. Watson asked Plaintiff to use more oil and he then put Plaintiff’s hands inside his anus. Plaintiff was shocked and confused. Watson told Plaintiff “I can tell you are a lesbian because you are so good with your hands.”
Plaintiff became irritated and uncomfortable, but she did not want to get in trouble with her manager. Plaintiff told Watson to lay on his back, and that was when Watson became even more aggressive, and started commenting on Plaintiff’s body. Watson then pulled Plaintiff towards him and told her “I want to cum,” Plaintiff was confused and told Watson that she does not perform those kinds of services.
Watson responded saying that he receives that kind of treatment at the spas that at where he usually gets his massages. Watson said the other therapists make him “cum.” Watson continued harassing Plaintiff and asked her to kiss him and suck on his chest.
Watson asked if Plaintiff was really a lesbian, Plaintiff ignored his advances and told him to stop acting like a pervert. At this point, Plaintiff was embarrassed and humiliated, but she did not want to lose her job. Plaintiff just wanted Watson to leave, but she was scared.
She continued massaging his chest, Watson then exposed himself and told Plaintiff to massage his penis area. Plaintiff declined and covered his penis. Watson asked why Plaintiff did not want to touch his penis. He then asked her to perform oral sex on him and to pretend that he was a woman, since she had never been with a man before.
Watson became even more aggressive and forced Plaintiff’s mouth onto his penis. Watson told her “there is a first time for everything.” Plaintiff was so scared and distraught, she was sweating and nervous. She was alone at the spa and feared scared for her life. Watson then proceeded to wrap his legs around Plaintiff’s neck and told her to kiss him and to spit on his penis.
Plaintiff declined and he released her head. Watson went even further and began masturbating in front of Plaintiff and he ejaculated shortly after. Plaintiff was humiliated and horrified. The NFL is notorious for a culture that fosters sexual harassment and sexual assault."
