I think I maybe would've liked to take some more expensive things for mainframe/mind melt after not hitting my budget, but I also got some things I would've spent way more on (slowthai, autechre, NIN, twigs) so all in all it's ok.
i honestly wanna know what the reasoning was behind leaving so much budget on the table?
For me? Portishead was the only expensive act I really had any interest in drafting. I wasn’t really worried about budget. I drafted what I wanted.
R I love your lineup. It would be a dream come true for me, but I’ll just detail some of the recent shows I saw that make up the top of your lineup.
Massive Attack - Not sure if it was a sell out, but felt full for a 5,000 person venue. It was their first show of the US tour.
Robyn - Played to a half empty LA Forum in 19. It’s a big venue, but she didn’t move 10k in tickets for a show in LA, and floor GA tickets were available the week of show.
Hot Chip - Sold out 1,500 person venue in Portland, but also played to a half empty Shrine Auditorium in LA.
Nils Frahm - Didn’t even sell 150 tickets for his show in Phoenix in 2019. Awesome show though which ended up being one of my favorites that year.
Fever Ray - Played to an 80% full LA Palladium 3,800 capacity venue in 2018.
Air - Played the smallest stage at Gov Ball in 2017, and maybe had 1500 people. I know Gov Ball isn’t their prime demo by any means.
That said, nobody officially said the only goal of this festival was to book something that would commercially do well. I’m sure a lot of people would have changed their strategy if that was more defined. You booked a music nerd’s wet dream lineup and I fully appreciate that.

I wasn’t concerned about ticket sales at all while drafting and I think it’s a perfectly valid critique of my lineup to say it wouldn’t sell well. I just don’t think it would sell significantly worse than some of the other fests like some are saying.

that's totally fair, but you should be able to see how that would lead to a lineup that could undersell, especially when there isn't a single current mainstream act top to bottom.

Using pre-established booking fees set by The Agent (me), your goal is to book a III Points lineup that represents the brand identity of the festival and sells out at capacity (20,000 tickets per day).

I’ve admitted multiple times I don’t think my lineup would sell super well. I just don’t think it would be significantly worse than some other lineups. I’m tired of making comparisons because I don’t want it to seem like I’m picking on other people’s lineups.

Alright this is taking me too long and it's too hard to rank, I'll do the other two groups sometime tomorrow night probably. Sorry if the comments are mostly negative it would take me forever to say all the positive things, all of these would be dream lineups to attend.
Group A 1. Teddy/Gibson: I think the Missy/Flume day sells out but not sure about the other one. This feels like III Points but it almost feels like FYF more? I think you could have used a bit more star power on the Isotropic stage to fix that, or maybe it's that FYF booked a ton of these acts. Despacio is a cool get. Just really good balance of Quality/Feels like III Points/Sales 2. Cash Me Ouside: One of my favorites for my tastes but feels a bit... disjointed/unbalanced? Lots of very rare gets which would be great but I think it lacks some curation specially on the main stage. Not sure your first day sells out, and not sure anyone shows up to the second day until Bad Bunny. 3. JamesTheRam: Dream III Points lineup that feels well curated (love the poster too), but I think this would struggle to sell tickets. I think Freddie Gibbs is the only rap act and no R&B which feels off for III Points 4. KPO: Billie Eilish and Kid Cudi would move a ton of tickets, but I'm not sure why you put them on the same day, feels unbalanced and idk if the second day sells out. I'm on the fence on if this feels like a III points lineup or not, lots of artists that I could see them booking on their own but as a whole it feels off (the pop main stage, Carti/Cudi feels more Rolling Loud, the electronic is a bit too mainstream). 5. Theo: Feels like an amazing indie rock festival but not III Points, not enough of the budget spent on electronic. Not sure this sells out either.
Group B 1. Jimmy: The main stage run on the NiN day feels a bit weird, I think you needed something different in the JMJ spot maybe. Overall this is a great balance of Quality/Feels like III Points/Sales 2. Bing: Good balance and lots of great acts but The National really sticks out, doesn't seem like a III Points act much less a headliner that plays after Disclosure. I don't think your first day sells out, maybe the second does. Feels a little more Primavera than III Points, but still hit the mark overall 3. Pepe: Good stuff throughout but I don't think either day sells out. The main stage runs seem a bit random. Grimes should be a main stage act IMO. Definitely feels like III Points, but Sufjan sticks out a bit. 4. Todd: Your first day feels way too much like Camp Flog and I don't think your second day sells well at all. Still this is packed with stuff I love and the Dan Deacon -> Panda Bear -> Atomic Bomb -> James Murphy run might be my favorite of the festival 5. GoCats: Phoebe -> Pavement -> Vampire Weekend is a cool run but it isn't III Points. Your Isotropic stage feels too small, and tbh kinda pointless because it mostly feels like a worse version of your Main Frame
Group C Fred: Debated Lil Uzi a bunch, best value of the draft for tickets. Your run of Mitski -> Nick Cave -> XX -> Chem Bros is soooo sick. Not a big fan of your Sector 3 stage but thats personal taste. Sang: This is sick and I feel like there's something for everyone. Not sure if it would sell out but it would do well, smart to put Chris Lake/Fisher the same day as Kraftwerk/Atoms to make sure you still move tickets. That second day Boiler room seems a bit too mainstream, but again it kinda works with your niche headliners. Tranter: I think this sells out and I would love to attend. Not sure this is a III Points lineup though, I think Black Coffee is your only DJ in the top 20 names or so. Not sure there's a precedent for a Megan Thee Stallion booking but it would be cool. Rummy: I don't think this would move tickets. I might be wrong and maybe Rosalia moves tickets in Miami but I don't actually believe she has a headliner audience in the US yet. Postal Servie and NMH is double dipping on something this festival doesn't really book. Fearandparanoia: I know the board likes Dua Lipa but I don't think she fits III Points, Robyn is the closest precedent and that's a stretch. Lineup has a lot of good stuff but feels dated, not sure there's much appeal for a 2022 festival audience.
Group D WhereIsPassionPit: This is a III Points lineup that represents the brand identity of the festival and sells out at capacity, which was the goal of the game Jortles: I think if you had taken Travis Scott instead of The Cure this lineup would have been a homerun because you sell out and it's more in line with this festival IMO. For my tastes it's amazing though. Kvothe: Great balance of cool stuff and stuff that sells but is still in line with III Points. Bjork is a perfect headliner and Tyler is much bigger now than when he played last. This lineup would have been #1 in other groups YouCoolMan: Great lineup but doesn't feel like III Points R: Great lineup but would bankrupt the festival
Yaeji and SBTRKT are there too. Plus some non DJ electronic like Thom

good thought on my lineup. Travis / 36 mafia would have been sweet and i prob could have done without the lynch thing
I’m not sure what’s so dated about my lineup. The established names still attract audiences and those like Sampha/ANOHNI could easily rise with another album. Ratatat and Foals are the only ones that really stand out to me, but they are solid to this day so I included them. The vast majority of my acts trend “new” (especially a good amount of my electronic). The older electronic picks I took were mostly goats - Juan Atkins, Flylo, Dewaeles, Robert Hood, James Blake, Jamie, Joe Goddard, etc
