Passion Pit, Bing, KPO, Tranter pretty much are guaranteed sell outs. And there are a couple more that could sell out but would require some work on the marketing / promotion end.
I like the lineup but does Tame/Solange/Rufus really sell this out? They don't seem like they would move a ton more tickets than some of the past big names that have played the fest. Looks like that upcoming Tame show in Miami is going to be really undersold.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
that might be because they were just everywhere that summer. i think we should be looking at the big gets like Sade, Outkast, Portishead, Fugees if they were taken, as single comeback shows, not part of a comeback tour.
This seems a bit arbitrary since every act would hypothetically sell more tickets if this is the only show they play

For my personal taste, R probably had my favorite lineup, but I have serious doubts that thing would come even remotely close to selling out.
We talk about things like Aphex Twin here, and while he’s absolutely amazing the fact is he couldn’t fill half of the Mojave Tent at a festival with 100k each weekend. This festival is obviously more niche than something like Coachella, but people need to be real that a lineup that caters primarily to 30+ would do commercially well.
I feel Kate Bush could do well if she had a stand-alone show in NYC or LA, but throwing her into a festival I feel would be a disaster in the US. It’s the Stone Roses and Blur all over again IMO.

but those are the acts that actually aren't playing any shows besides this one hypothetical one. its part of their value, or at least thats what i've been told every single Infinity Draft when i don't have enough dead people.

I generally agree with this but I also think that theres a big difference between Sade, who never tours and plays arenas when she does, and Portishead, who never tours and plays theatres when they do.

I think you're exactly right abut the rare stuff. Things that music nerd internet freaks out about don't always sell well. Plus, I think you have to consider that its at a festival. Some people that are willing to buy a ticket to see Kate Bush at a standalone show in NY/LA might not be willing to go to a fest. Just because we are festival people doesn't mean everyone else is.

totally fair. i said in my voting that Sade is probably the best HLer in the game.

I think they have added value for being a big reunion, but assuming it’s a singular show in the entire world is just a step too far IMO.

now what Gibson Guy and R said about people not wanting to go to festivals, that fits Sade to a T imo. My dad has seen Sade multiple times but I've gotten him to go to one festival, Bourbon and Beyond, because he could bring a chair and sit. He ain't going to III points lol
which ones? Seems important since general consensus seems to be that selling out is a given for most of the lineups.

well trying to factor in "maybe Bings lineup isn't that good because if Sade came back she'd probably play Coachella or Primavera and not just iii points" is complicating things way more IMO.
I thought the "holy shit Radiohead is playing III Points" factor was gonna have more power in voting than it has so far, got lucky not trading up for them.

Of all the super rare headliners listed here, I still think Sade would do okay in a festival setting, and would ultimately move tickets. However, you may get the Beyoncé effect. Meaning you have a ton of people go for just one act, and it brings down the crowd at every other show for that weekend. Coachella 18 was easily the worst Coachella I went to, and I attribute a lot of that to the Beyoncé fan base.

anyone here watch Big Little Lies?
just remembered that time where Reese Whitherspons character was eating dinner at Zoe Kravitz's house, and thought the Sade she was playing was Adele. that joke got me.

The key is to have artists that complement those headliners. Bing having Badu sub for Sade works but I think that’s the only other show that Sade fans would be excited to see.

why don’t you think the biggest artist in the world can move 20k tickets?

He does move 20K tix. He sold out American Airlines Arena here. But for a festival it’s harder to sell out since the tickets are more expensive. So it helps to have added value for the people who only want to go to see Bad Bunny.

I think this would be a very different dynamic than Coachella since theres a ton of other stuff to do in Wynwood/Miami before Sade/Kate Bush/etc 's set time. go to one of the Groot hospitality spots or a wynnwood place for dinner/drinks then head in at 8 or 9PM

I don’t think his lineup would be worse if Sade played a couple other festivals. I guess I was just trying to push back on the idea that the reunion acts get some added world audience, but I’ll support that under the assumption I’m going to sell 200 VIP tickets to rich Japanese people that want to see my YMO world exclusive show

Totally, but how does that make the other acts feel? Building a festival isn’t solely about selling out for one year, it’s also about creating a fun and exciting experience for the weekend that you drive to make repeatable, but with different artists each year. More importantly an experience that is positive for all stakeholders involved.
Your stakeholders include your vendors and other artists. So building a festival around one act and telling yourself it’s cool if everyone spends their money outside the fest until showtime is silly in my mind. You want your smaller artists to come out with a positive experience, and want them reaching out to you the booking agent each year. You want to have killer crowds at every show. You don’t want a bunch of under attended sets or vendors that sell way less than originally anticipated.
