So, if I sold my 2020 passes on Stubhub, and they're sending out new 2022 wristbands for those that held onto their 2020 passes, I'm assuming they'll have to send the new wristbands to me, then I'll have to send those to the buyers of my 2020 passes?
Actually just got an email about this and Stubhub deemed the even cancelled and cancelled the sales (presumably because Coachella is now going to be a “new event”). That just made my Friday a lot easier.
Tin-foil hat theory: They only did this because the prices increased and getting the same passes listed again at a higher price will give them a bigger cut.
EDIT: Now that I think about this more, I’m pretty sure that’s why they released the passes. It’s not a kind gesture from StubHub, it’s a way for them to get more money.

its honestly pretty messed up for people who bought on stubhub and thought they were locked in to 2022. I would be pretty mad if I bought from them and it got terminated.
so, refund window doesn't open until Friday at 10am, the same as the advanced sale, and goes until sunday. do we think that all of those passes that get refunded go straight to Lyte or will they go into the advanced sale pool? seems to me like all those refunded tickets will go straight to Lyte at the tier 3 prices to maximize profits.

Probably will just go to the regular January sale as tier 3

Holding on to their money all year and then cancelling now is pretty fucked up. They could have cancelled when Coachella called off the April 21 dates. There’s some argument that if there’s a different lineup you can’t lock in those buyers but still.
Works out for me though cause I want those tickets now.
Agree that holding onto the money for 15 months and cancelling now is lame.
They are giving people a 120% credit, or at least they're doing that for the shuttle passes I bought, and it's good through the end of 2022. This isn't too bad for people who use Stubhub regularly but could be a drag for people who only used it for Coachella and are now able to get passes another way. There is no option provided in the email for just getting the money back, but maybe you could do that with some effort.
Has anyone rented bikes for this to get to and from the venue? The AirBnb I booked for the likely W1 ended up being quite a bit farther away then I previously thought (2.5 miles).
Well the host ended up cancelling the reservation since the house is "$3k a day during Coachella". Not super surprising tbh, but it looks like Coachella will have to wait another year for our group since the current rental landscape is a wasteland.

don't give up! I'm sure there will be other rentals available even if they are further away. the coachella shuttles are great so just search around a shuttle stop.
or consider camping? you could rent a camper van and still be pretty comfortable even if camping isn't your thing.

This is why I would never Airbnb for Coachella cause youre just at the hosts mercy. Theres still a few hotels at decent prices and maybe some resorts, too. Coachella has their hotels listing up on valley music travel, might be something in there that works.
We have a large group and we all had our hearts set on a house with a private pool that we could walk to the Polo fields from. I think we are at peace with just doing it big when the time is right - there will be plenty of other fests next year.

Have you thought about weekend 2? Not sure quite how large your group is but there are still some options

We all want the green grass for our first Coachella experience
Anyone else just get a Lyte waitlist order filled? I put the request in back in March and forgot about it. Basically assumed they had scrapped it and would just steer everyone toward presale, but got the notification that it got filled this morning. Huge relief I don't have to deal with what I assume will be a shitshow tomorrow.

Just know that next year, it'll be the same story. The large houses with pools walking distance from the fest are always obscenely expensive, and even if you book one at a relatively affordable price well ahead of time, it's practically a guarantee that the host will cancel on you once the dates are announced. Your best bet is to look for something near a shuttle stop or plan on driving into the fest. Even still, they'll do the same shenanigans with canceling on you if you book at a pre-fest price.
I booked an AirBNB with a Superhost this year because I'd heard they're a bit less willing to cancel and risk losing that Superhost status. She's gone as far as to offer to find me a comparable house at the same price AND give me a cash gift if I cancel instead of her canceling. I really doubt she'll find that alternative house for me, but I can play chicken all day. Still expecting to lose this house anyway.

My small claims court date for our rental refusing to refund our 10k from last April is in 20 days! We weren’t legally allowed to stay at the house per riverside county temporarily banning short term rentals during the peak Covid outbreak last year and the host just refuses to pay us back because the contract said no refunds. So I’m looking forward to trying to book another fucking nightmare for next year with this still looming over my head.

Mine got filled too. Surprised that it happened before the presale even happening, hopefully it isn't some error.

I think the timing was intentional. Got filled at 9am this morning and said it will charge and process in 24 hrs unless I cancelled. So it'll process before 10am and lock people in before they can see if they get presale.
Only difference is the convenience fees of like $30 a ticket which I'll gladly pay to avoid presale.
I'm a little worried about that Hilton Garden Inn canceling those great rates a lot of us nabbed a few weeks ago. I did have the Quality Inn Palm Springs (part of Choice Hotels) cancel a low rate on me in November of 2019. And there was that Desert Hot Springs place a lot of us on here booked in 2018 that canceled on us.

I think itll be perfectly fine. They had plenty of rooms at higher rates and considering the rest of their hotels had the high prices and have almost sold out, theyre getting their money. There is usually one or 2 low price glitches like that every year and this time it was the hilton. Besides, one time when a bunch of people jumped on a deal like this and got tons of reservations the hotel cancelled everyone within a couple days after cause they figured it out. Dont think they want a shitstorm right now by displacing so many people. I wont be surprised if they take an early deposit or check on our reservation status come Feb or so. I had that happen a few years ago with a Holiday Inn Express.

A bunch of people scored a price glitch at the Embassy Suites in 2019 (also a Hilton) and they honored the price. I wouldn’t worry as much about a big chain hotel screwing you.
